What's wrong with the portal defense?

This is a known issue. An attacker with a bad connection (accidental or deliberate) can stack up bursters that all get released at once when their connection is restored.
wasnt this patched some time ago that stacking doesnt work ? thats cheating to me doing that.
but sometimes VR shields can fly off with like 1 US or something, if the portal was not linked then its not enhanced with protection from fields. but still suspicious.
No, the connection to the network in the place where the attacked portal was was excellent, moreover, the portal was on a mountain, next to the city. So we can't talk about a bad connection here. I also had this problem in the center of the city when an enemy agent was standing nearby.
Only Nia knows the data is in the game logs.
Report the incident for investigation?
Sometimes you don't get the attack notification soon enough, sometimes the shields get unlucky rolls and pop off with the first few attacks. Don't get attached to portals in the game, it's a chance to rebuild and get more points.
Your signal strength does not necessarily match the signal strength of someone on a different network, someone with their phone set to a different 4G/3G/Edge setting, or someone who has simply switched their phone to aeroplane mode.

I got notifications the other day for dense CBD area. Lost like 50 portals - all reported in COMM alerts in same 1 minute window. (ie all at once). It's LAG.
Games not playable for remote defense a lot of the time. That and lockups requiring restarts.
Yeah sounds to me like lag = realtime platform not synchronized
When you first get an alert, compare its time to the current time. It's probably 5+ minutes old when it arrives = too late to defend.
Defending really isn't an everyday part of the game anymore.
