Any chance for a preview of the medal we'll receive during the next event? Any hints on the medal levels?
edit: also, not sure if this was answered elsewhere, but for the next event, will uniques portals be in the context of the event or uniques that count towards explorer?
@MatiasM20 Who in their right minds has the time to do 50 KC? This is a little ridiculous!! Can you not make the challenge enough for regular people to be able to get a gold!? I'm just saying I'm always up for a challenge but not this one!!
I don't know if I'll be able to achieve 50 caps... But I'm glad they have extreme tiers for these challenges. It was the same thing for the EXO fielder badge... A lot of people complained about how many thousand fields to get gold.
Bronze and silver for the casual player and gold for The Maniacs.
didnt brian wanted global challenges to be easier? i feel the gold is crazy high and without proper adventure sync it can be tough just for a gold.... exo 5 was never meant to be easy atleast not the highest tier back then but things was alot different so many years ago. but problem is that now we dont have tiers higher then gold now yet this one needs 50 completed kcaps.
We are now edging ever closer to the next event being;
August 20th - 30th: #MeetYouOutThere Challenge
I know for the Harry Potter: Wizards Unite forum (https://community.harrypotterwizardsunite.com/en/categories/announcements) where they do a monthly overview similar to this, they post up a thread a day or two before and that’s fine for that game. However, for Ingress agents, more time is needed for planning key farming, or thinking about AP engines and such.
It would be nice if we got a thread with further details in about these events three or four days before moving forwards to help with planning out.
NO, achieving the base level to get the badge should be easy. Getting the top level should be difficult and require a decent effort. It's also pretty basic 100km over 10 days (and that's if you didn't do any at all previous).
In my point of view, top% is a bit unfair. Because it depends in which city you are - whether you live in a major city or a small town. And, hence, whether you have a good "infrastructure" to grind AP or not. When visiting other cities, I was able to get twice as much AP in half the time.
Field test/Hexathlon was good. Because you were able to compete against other people by using the same "infrastructure". A global competition is challenging, because not everyone has lots of portals around them. The portals around me are hundreds of metres apart from each other, not just a few metres.
And if the Apex helps towards the medal goals, then someone could argue that it is also pay-to-win in some way to get the highest possible tier.
So, a fixed goal should be implemented. People should know what goal they have to achieve during these COVID-19 times, if they aim for the highest tier. This would make the event more enjoyable for the majority of the community.
Important is that you stay save and follow the local safety and health guidelines.
So the #MeetYouOutThere challenge is just a few days away. Do we have a final decision on the tier levels? Do we have a start time?
I am currently working on the assumption that the AP amounts will be the numbers on the picture a few pages up (88,888 bronze, 888,888 silver, 2,888,888 gold), and it will start at the usual 4pm UTC. But it would be nice to get confirmation!
I was very certain that i was able to see in my profile under events how many kinetic capsules i have finished during the first event. But now this progress is gone. I know that i made 39 runs. I still see how many capsules i made entirely but i cannot find the event progress

Hello for the kinetic capsule challenge II the previous kinetic capsule count or in this timeframe we have to complete the capsule?

XMAs like @MatiasM20 do not create official Ingress events.
Feel free to criticize the event, but please refrain from directing the criticism at @MatiasM20. Thanks.
Awesome news

I'm waiting on if it's a total amount that's the goal or if it's top %.
You can make a case for both but personally I would rather chase a goal, less stressful lol

This is incremental from previous event, I'm sure I did over 30 before so another 20 will be OK, currently do about one 8km KC per day.

Hello? Anyone out there? Niantic, can you throw us some more details?
@NianticThia any insight? Please halp!
We've gotten event announcements on Wednesday night UTC time for some time now, I would expect the event announcement then.
Thanks, that’s helpful. Will hold out until then 🤞🏼🤞🏼
@NianticThia Hi. Any news about design medal and AP for bronze/silver/gold for tomorrow event? Thanks.
hopefully later today as its only 2 days left.
Google translate, copy and paste))
@NianticThia @NianticBrian @NianticOfficial Hello🌞
What event starts tomorrow?
Perhaps it's the 19th where the responder is located, so tomorrow would be Friday the 20th?
The poster asked on 8/17 (by the forum date/time stamp). Maybe their clock / calendar was fast
The medal looks nice & it will be a good challenge AP wise

Is that normal that the event progress is gone?
Yes it vanished a few months back
So who comes up with the events? I still think the top tier is a bit crazy!
