Hey everyone, I just wanted to follow up on my previous post about COMM. We've found the issue and while it wont be solved in the next patch, it should be in the one after that (along with a couple of other fixes). Please let me know if you see any other COMM issues after that date.
Thank you for the update, very much looking forward to defending portals again ;)
Great @ofer2 :D
Great news! Looking forward to it. Thanks for sharing @ofer2
Thanks @ofer2 Will anyone else from Niantic answer any other questions in this thread?
If not, the forums are basically a waste of keystrokes. I see @NianticBrian is still posting on Twitter whilst this threads been alive.
I’m honestly surprised this has straight up been ignored for this long… lol
But hey, y’all got any of those 5* reviews?!
It hasn't been ignored.
I mean, I suppose it’s hasn’t been completely ignored, sure. But, it has mostly been ignored…
Nah I ceased putting 5* a few patches ago. Now that we have months of "bugfix" releases, the game (including all what is connected to it - poor support, poor communication, no storyline) is not 5* for me at this moment.
By just ONE person who cares. I mean ofer2 of course. And they're a developer! Not even someone who is supposed to talk to the community. Others are apparently intensely "listening" or "reading everything" LMAO
Yeah, its been ages now. Forums basically a waste of time it seems.
You shouldn't have to keep checking back for over two weeks to see if anyone from the company responds.
OP probably moved on by now...
I'm still hoping for a reply by Niantic (ofer aside, he is a legend as always, but he "only" mentioned COMM), but I hate being pushy and drawing attention to myself. The letter was written after like 3 months of starting to write, then deleting, then deliberating if it's a good idea to post etc. I know that Thia has "read the forums" and has "read recent top threads.", so I'm sure that they are aware, but if they haven't replied yet, they either won't at all or have reasons why a response is delayed. Hope dies last, but I don't want to ping them or bump this thread every day.
Ignoring this thread and replies to it is not the way.
I waited enough for Niantic reply, now it's time to do things I can do to force it. So I put that juicy 1* to Ingress in google play. It was the first time I did it with Ingress. You deserve it by ignoring this open letter. I'll lift it as soon as this thread gets some good reply covering all points from Niantic :)
Serious question: if you were Niantic what would your reply to all this be?
I'd cover every point of the original letter with honest explanation, if the company thinks it is even a problem, what did lead to the problem, what was (is being) done to tackle the problem, if there was a possibility to do better but they didn't then apology, what lessons were learned and what guarantees (not "we have to do better" bs but guarantees) can be given for future. I'd also cover some concerns from the comments to the letter too, not just the letter itself, because it doesn't cover everything and people expressed more in these 6 pages (and tbh because there are my posts I want answers to too 😏).
As I said, a one liner saying standard "we have to do better" is not an option and would infuriate me personally even more. I am tired of this. I don't want Niantic to say "noted thx bye", I want answers and concrete communication. I think ofer2 is a legend exactly because he answers in detail. But for questions outside of ofer2 field, there's emptiness, and this needs to change. @NianticBrian loves talking to people in twitter but almost totally ignores official forums, is this some kind of a joke?
atleast someone else then ofer2 could throw in some input on the things OP marked are issues with. We know that they read but a little input here from them would be nice. This is after all the community so work with us, dont give us silence...
I don't need everything explained once and for all. I at least need either some people from various teams explaining, or someone telling that this is indeed in their attention, and giving about when they'll give us the answer.
Again, I can wait. But silence, ignoring, another delay without a deadline, or even answering that they'll give details and gone missing afterwards, are not what I(and possibly many of us) am expecting.
when in any topic righteous anger at some vanguard begins, then this topic is covered up in a few hours with a response from the administrator. also, if someone posted for example a photo of a pornographic context on the forum, they would simply be removed from the forum. and very quickly. but the company cannot answer the request to users, even with the help of the community manager. or rather the company does not want it in principle. it is disrespect for their customers.
Yes. But at least a developer has given more information about whether the COMM problem would be fixed or not.
As you may see, post like https://community.ingress.com/en/discussion/15551/support-ingress-urgently-requires-attention/p1
Has proven that some players seemingly urging Niantic/Ingress team to give a reply for several problems in this post, so that Ingress game could improve, do not care about other players and the quality of Ingress game at all. Instead of comprehending significant system problems and ideas and feelings presented by others, they respond with pure trolling and shaming collectively. They just want to make fun of and bully other players and sneer at Niantic. Surely it's better for Nianric to review this post and reply with more information but if I were the stakeholder I won't bother answering anything to players that disrespect other players and shaming my team and caring more about being the strong voice in the forum than really helping building Ingress a better game.
See the disagree on your comment? They do it despite the fact that you are speaking for the petition they are doing, as long as you are not their guys. Just let it go, before someone thick-skinned shouting at you "the system is good and you are the problem". Forget the community. This game and this community is not worthy of your warm-hearted efforts because everything here has lost controls and ultimately the gaming environment would be software bugs along with problematic players everywhere.
back so soon, derailing the conversation on this thread about how unfair the world is. This is exactly why people slam that disagree button on anything and everything you post.
Derailing a post that "nobody was responding"? The conclusion made by you applies to your comment precisely. "You’re not understanding that these forums are a place for discussion. Discussion often means different points of view, ideas and in general back and forth."
"I am free to say what I think about discussions held here." And I don't care about for even 1 second what disagree or what unfair or hear from someone that supports bullying by generating totally off-topic "unfair" concepts regardless of the fact. The team is not responding this post as you want surely for a reason that we all know why.
If you guys want for example Mr. Brian to anwser something, at least show some respect rather than "hey you can't always hide behind her that's ugly", etc, or advise somebody to stop saying so. Otherwise you all are still creating a situation merely to prove that "See? Niantic does not respond to players at all, I said it".
Trying to slap somebody's in the face and then shouting "how could you not be responding" is ridiculous. Some players versus the Ingress team..I really can't say that the latter one is more arrogant than the former even if not making replies here.
If you guys are happily embracing shaming and insulting from sombody and see it as a good way to "force Niantic to respond" then it's fair for this post to embrace silence. If you guys are happily expressing "None of my business LOL" attitudes in posts of other players seeking help then it's fair for this post to be treated with "None of my business LOL" by stakeholders. I'm not saying it's good or correct but it's fair.
I put disagree for every spam. I used to read everything that agent from Shanghai posted, but to be reminded of all that trash in every single thread about Niantic, I now think that he and a few more agents have some sort of paranoia, delusions, or some other problems I cannot fully explain.
And now, I like how he reacts to disagrees.
You are shaming players by throwing negative and bad words like this. I don't even care about and I don't even mention a word about Disagree on me. Players have their rights to pick any reactions. It's you cooking up this story and making it sound like "another Disagree complaint". Actually The case is about inappropriate, offensive words, not about whatever disagree, OK?
What I mention is that your team is not respectful towards players and Niantic by using inappropriate words in multiple comments on the forum. Calling players "i","paranoia","have some problems", "trash", and secretly shaming Mr.Brian is problematic and everyone can see it.
But your team is kept telling everyone and fooling moderators that "he is just not handling disagree well" or "it's him too sensitive about disagree forever". Your team is never letting this disagree story that I no longer refer to since months ago ends, while under this cover, you are shaming players and Niantic to a greater extent. I just advise you guys to refrain from shaming Ingress team with inappropriate trolls if you really want some anwsers, and I don't care about your likes or dislikes and I don't need your review of my posts, have I made it clear?
Maybe you have also noticed that some of your comments, or some comments that you "Liked" have disappeared or been blurred out. It's because those comments are pure personal attacks against other players (not me). I report them via "Flag" as long as I see any. Maybe your team is accustomed to shaming players verbally throughout a long history but I have to tell you this would be stopped now.
And where is my unknown team/teammates? Or as you mentioned elsewhere, there is no global ENL alliance that I use to defend cheating activities. That is why I thought you might be suffering 'delusions'. Mental problems, in short. I really would like to see why you are calling me someone active as a team, any proof will be so so welcome. I can offer you every evidence I can give you, too, because you'll not find me in any teams or alliances that you've mentioned.
So now, I think I am getting personal attacks from @LuoboTiX because he sees me doing something that even I am not aware of. That is one more topic I'll add in this discussion, personal attacks left unpunished in the forums.
Enough of off topic trash.
Dear Agent A
Agent B would like to bring to Agent A's attention the following:
Agent A boldly claims that Agent A doesn't care about other player disagreements nor mentions the word disagree in their comments.
The evidence presented below, however, proves this bold claim to be false:
Agent B has found that music can be quite therapeutic in easing bouts of anger and frustration, and would encourage Agent A to try this method. Agent B can highly recommend the following piece: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0MK7qz13bU
Agent B wishes Agent A a calm and pleasant day further, and hopes that this thread can now return to its original discussion point.
I said that I don't even care about and I don't even mention a word about Disagree on me. Please kindly open your eyes.
With regards to other links, they are in other posts where the main topic is about complaints of inappropriate words, not Disagree. Please kindly refrain from cooking up this "he is just not handling disagree well" endlessly.
As you finally show up in this post, may I have your comment on, as a Vanguard, whether shaming someone of Ingress team here continuously is proper or not? If not proper, why you did not advise them not to do so, but show up only after I advise them not to do so in order to pursue a constructive not emotional way approaching the Ingress team for valuable response? Are you appropriately doing your role as a Vanguard?
Nobody asked you to speak for Niantic all the time and players are free to say whatever they want as long as they follow the community guideline but isn't it necessary of you to do something right when you see violation of community guidelines? Perhaps you see pizzaing like this https://community.ingress.com/en/discussion/comment/145662/#Comment_145662 as "something right to do" and you didn't see any problem shaming Ingress team collectively under the cover of "Open Letter" written and promoted by several users that in other posts (not mine) don't really care about the feelings of or even turn deaf ears to other players (not me) at all.
Agent # still sees how agent A keeps all Niantic-related discussions steering out of direction, and would like to put a stop to this behavior. Only agent A and his sidekicks can't see this.
Agent # apologies to everyone but Agent A, and would like to keep the discussion to how Niantic isn't still responding to our long thread.
While you guys keep shouting "hey where are you ugly hiding", at least I dropped several emails to Brian for his information and his notice, the screenshot shows the latest one. It leaves to him whether to make any reply or not but at least I tried to make him review this thread. If I were him, I would examine problems described, and also identify problematic players that actually is proactively exploiting and penetrating this forum in collusion in order to attack Niantic or other players unreasonably. If they happen to be XMAs, then they should not be.
We see Ingress is not operating well, or badly, but we also see problematic players obviously. Problematic when they do not support anti-spoofing and do not listen to other players (not me) or even block other players requesting for help from Niantic/Inrgess team/NIA OPS, but act like caring a lot about the quality and problems of this game and as the pioneers seeking improvement, while bullying players with inappropriate words and do shaming and afterwards deny doing so. Relying on problematic players to interrogate Ingress team for a better gaming environment? Things won't work in this way, sorry.
Which is a trivial thing not worth mentioning. II believe you guys have also done such efforts as well but just choose not in this post let players know as I didn't see anything mentioned like "I've sent twitter DM to Brian and it was read", while your team, or precisely let's say the chat group where you together with those guys complaining that "there are problems with some players" in an unmannered way, has already told the public that the most constructive way of approaching the stakeholder is via Twitter or email, not waiting but doing no constructive criticizing of other players on the forum, and doing trolls as usual.
Did you just say "you'll not find me in any teams or alliances that you've mentioned"?
What are you trying to solve by linking to screenshots of what is essentially the peanut gallery?
To prove that those players are organized, even if loosely. This open letter thing is running like a campaign. Regarding the fact that those guys are organized and can talk to each other easily in a chat group and we all know that Niantic has been not proactively replying to "open letters", if they really want solutions and anwsers and help improve this gaming environment, then would it be better of them to do it in a more constructive and mannered way, in terms of pushing the stakeholder and approaching Niantic? And would it be better for them to clearly state and define literally what anwsers they want?
How could an open letter campagin succeed by achieving the goal? By earnestly pursuing the essence of the goal, that is, to make Niantic admit those problems, bring them into actions and eventually improve the quality of the game. And by actively promoting the open letter in a healthy way so that a foundation of communication could be established. And by players that really listen to and care about other players, and be firmly reluctant to do emotional behaviors all the time.
Not by trolling, group shaming, A-B repeating (some was almost becoming ranting before my comments) "we are 100% ignored" since the very beginning to make the post alive, especially not by players that proven to, in multiple other posts (not mine), not be really caring about that goal or caring about other players but simply exploiting our willingness to achieve this goal or our motivation to urge Niantic to do better for some other, their own goals, that is, sneering at Niantic as much as possible and collectively making fun of and overwhelming players that notice and split out the inconsistency between their slogans and their daily actions in practice and thus advise them to get rid of inappropriate words and be more respectful towards others. It's not me that trying to define what's inappropriate words or calling out those actions. It's just common knowledge that some players should not expect to get anwsers smoothly from someone they are irritating via trolling. Trolling in an coordinated way is the completely useless action in a open letter thread.
If this post, where even most of players being not satisfied with Niantic's handling of some situations (me too) and spheres of Ingress game are caring about solutions and anwsers, was just deliberately exploited by some players who do not care about other players and care even less about or indirectly hinder anti-cheating topics and generally see personal attacks on the forum as a normal behavior and freedom of speech, to voice such unsatisfaction fiercely, rudely and offensively as much as possible to get themselves amused and satisified, and where nobody except me is willing to report or stand out to let it not become a planned cur.sing fest, then enjoy the bad words shaming show. Then this community is done and I've finished my part. Because they can turn every post into a cur.sing fest and a trolling train as long as they want, unstoppably.
Tell forum users and prove that they tried to reach Ingress team with various means in public or in private. Express unsatisfcatory freely, mildly or intensively but in a mannered way not ranting. Reserve and give enough response time since beginning from common knowledge. If no response in proposed deadline, reach high-level Niantic staffs including VPs, or whoever that is a senior stakeholder. Talk about the progress of trying to reach someone and make regular updates in this post. Send feedback to game related media for more pushing forces. Use the chat group (which currently is used to shame players) to do something helpful.
All those are much better than making new replies in the form of "Oh, another day of silence", "you still hiding" every single day since Day 1, and then criticize of others "derailing the topic" after 1 week when the topic is not even running as an ongoing tram but already filled up with cur.sing speech upon Niantic within the first 3 to 4 days. Trolling, shaming, double-standarding...is there anyone truly leading the way of better communication from player's side in this post when complaining about "no communication"?
Some players here simply all the time send canned responses to other players (not me) who seek help because customer support is not helping, especially everytime they see anti-spoofing posts, that "have you tried customer support? you should go there, not do complainning on the forum" even though they know the real situation of customer support regarding several topics. Then it's fair or much more fair to ask those players promoting this campaign because they seems never be willing to do something beyond repeated "a brand new day, this post is ignored as always" complaints:
"have you sent mails to Ingress team as you said you know them quite well? have you tried contacting high-level Niantic employees when you complain about no response from Ingress team? have you reached media?" If none of those were done, this whole thread is pointless. Hitting the wall as usual without change but with cur.sing when you know that's a wall and expect it to be a wall as always?
Oh sorry, I forgot, those constructive ways of communication is less likely to be made because some players (which I've provided evidence) prefer to do shaming and proving the incapability of Niantic, and start pizzaing in front of players who stand out to ask why they were intentionally messing with other players' posts describing problems and asking for help to make Ingress better, irritating other players via tolls, rather than the improvement of gaming environment, which makes the topic already losing some ground.
Deep in their mind, they know that I'm correct and shaming people is not good and not helpful promoting this thread and they could've done better, and it's an obvious gap between how badly they treat other open letter posts everyday and how rightful they look like speaking for general players, but they are just too accustomed to their traditional way of treating other players have different opinions with them and being the only voice, leading to a denying and trolling show. I'm not asking those players to be perfect but just unwilling to be represented by those people in an "Open Letter" campaign which is hypocritical and arrogant and not on the right track resulting in no effect if not rectified and if nobody is leading the way of establishing communication.
I'm pizzaing right now actually, Sicilian slices to be exact...
Anyway, a model of good communication from Niantic would be @ofer2. The complaints about COMM have died down because he gave us a clear and detailed explanation of what they were doing about COMM and when the issue should hopefully be resolved. If we got that kind of communication on the number of other issues plaguing the game, there would be a lot less complaining here. People generally are pretty forgiving if they see a good faith effort being put in and not being kept in the dark about things.
Unfortunately it seems many others at Niantic prefer the approach of not saying anything or only saying things that are canned approved responses. Brian's advice to the new CM was to do a lot of listening and not a lot of talking. With all due respect, I think that is terrible advice (the not talking part). Things would not escalate to the level they have if Niantic was more proactive and engaging in conversations.
