Why do event statistics disappear after a while?

Hello,
i really like the rise of events in the game and make it more interesting to go out and play.
Most of these little, but also the big events (like the exo5 field challenge) had a counter.
Those event counters disappear shortly after the event is over.
Does anyone know why? It would be very neat to keep those statistics for ever, especially also an exact count on the badge. But especially since most events now don't come with a badge anymore, it would be at least cool to keep the data on the all time profile...
Or is it just me?

Think in the long run it would get to messy and cluttered, I would like the total number left on the ones we do get badges for I think that would be pretty neat.
Profiles really need to be reworked. Often times this has come up as a matter of reorganizing badges to separate achievement badges from character/store badges. But this is an area where they can work on how stats are displayed. It would get messy and cluttered if all event stats were left to display on the profile, however, if they could rework it so that event stats were collapsible, that would be a way for the stats to stay on the profile but would only display if you tap to reveal them.
Technically the stats are there under a variable. Niantic turns off the display after the event is over.
Hmm but "Sentinel Portals Captured" still shows under stats.
For now
To add, when you do a GDPR request - one of the files you receive is your account stats. It will tell you the exact values you have for each variable, regardless of visibility.
