Mind you, they limited inventory to 2000 items at the start because of server lag that came from having 3000+ items. I think that was after introducing the deletion of items on the ground after 12 hours too.
I currently have 20 unused and unwanted Apex boosts in my inventory. 52 years from now they'll consume 100% of my inventory space. (And no, I don't want to just activate them and get 1K AP that I didn't earn.)
And I'm not being dramatic, I'm just being frustrated. I think being able to discard unwanted items in my inventory is a perfectly reasonable request. I can discard purchased items in Pokemon Go... why not Ingress?
Eggs aren't purchased though, Judy pointing that out. It will have been done that way to make.sure players dont just keep deleting till they get full 10k eggs
No, you can't discard eggs in Pokemon Go. You can't buy them either.
You can, however, buy premium and remote raid passes and then recycle them... IIRC I once recycled 100 premium raid passes in a single go. You can buy and recycle lucky eggs, incense, elite TMs, remote raid passes and premium battle passes, star pieces, rocket radar, pokeballs, lures, poffins. max potions, max revives, lures. Incubators don't seem to be recyclable. Stickers aren't either but they consume zero storage space.
everyone wants APEX. use them when you start playing for double AP. what's the problem here? Or just... use them all at once and... (get this) don't play... They stack. if an APEX is running and you use another, it just bumps the timeout up another half hour. so if someone randomly gave me 100 APEX i didn't want, i'd just... use them all up right away. sure i'd have FIFTY HOURS of double AP i might not use but hey whatevs, they're not clogging my inventory any more...
no clue why we're dragging PoGo mechanics into this discussion, but whatever, ok , here we go...
EVER NOTICE.... that once you have 9 eggs... they don't give you no mo? they stick around ok sure but... wait wat? my train of thought got derailed... there's a cap on eggs... but APEX you can use ALL up at once...
Small nitpick: You can only stack four Apex up to two hours. Trying to activate a fifth one will not work. Point still stands that you can slowly work through them by activating them before going to bed.
@GorillaSapiens Not everyone wants APEX. I'll grant you that most people do. I just want to recycle them and not get AP for doing nothing to contribute to the game.
Again, I want the ability to recycle anything that consumes inventory space. I think that is a reasonable request.
They're both aware that there's an option to stack and activate before going to sleep. Their issue is that they don't want the 1k AP that is given for each apex activated. You can agree or disagree with that view. I do think we should be able to recycle any items we don't want if they're going to count against inventory, even if they are paid items. A few months ago my inventory was bloated with fireworks I didn't want. I kept forgetting they were there (or otherwise trying to avoid drawing unnecessary attention while fielding) for about 2 weeks. I would have been happy to just simply recycle them.
Brian says we can't because people recycle paid items accidentally and then want refunds or the items restored. I say double confirmation prompt to recycle paid items with 🚨⚠️ visual warnings 🚨⚠️ and fine print that you won't get your money/items back if you continue should suffice to safeguard from accidental recycling and take Niantic off the hook.
Yes, hence where I said double confirmation to recycle paid items. The current prompt says "Do you want to recycle this/these item(s)? Yes/No." I'm saying that would be followed up with a second prompt that would have more attention-catching imagery and warn you that you won't get your money/items back if you continue. It's akin to asking, "are you sure?"
It's plausible that you could accidentally gloss over the current prompt and accidentally recycle something you didn't mean to. I've done it before. If you gloss over a second warning with fine print and is visually designed to get your attention, it's pretty much on you if you go forward and recycle it.
But you did earn them if Niantic gave them to you for free. 1000ap is nothing in the grand scheme of things once you've hit 16, so why does it matter? Are you going to request you get no xm from recycling it as well?
@grendelwulf My goal is to have my stats and badges reflect my actual accomplishments to the largest extent possible. It's my personal quirk. It's one of the reasons that I don't have character or purchased badges on my profile and why I generally reduce my play to a minimum during double AP periods.
The sentiment is a general one, though. If I'm given free fireworks by Niantic I would like the option to recycle them rather than using them. I can't see any reason why evicting things from my inventory shouldn't be 100% my decision.
APEX stack. you can clear them from your inventory by "use"ing them all at once, right before you go to bed at night. why you wouldn't want all that double AP, i don't understand. i get the orthogonality argument, but there IS a workaround, and i'd REALLY rather see NIA work on other fixes to the scanner than waste time on this minor issue.
@GorillaSapiens Eh, I'll just let them build up in my inventory until I can recycle them, until I can choose not to get them with CORE, or until I wind up with enough of them in my inventory that I can't take it anymore and I cancel my subscription to CORE.
As for why I don't want double AP, it's quite easy. I want my AP to reflect my accomplishments and not be earned on "easy mode" with double AP. It's the same basic principle as the reason I don't want character badges on my profile-- I treat my badges like merit badges rather than shiny objects. I don't want things to show up on my profile just because I bought them, and I don't want AP to show up in my total just because I bought it... and that includes 4K of AP per month for being a CORE member.
I still think "If it takes up room in my inventory I should be able to recycle it" is a reasonable request, or the inverse, "If I can't recycle it then it shouldn't consume inventory space."
That is wrong. I subscribed as an unrecursed agent literally seconds after the subscription got enabled and received 4 Apex. The rewards for subscribing and renewing haven changed since the release.

Just activate your apex and not play for 30 minutes. Is it really that hard?
Mind you, they limited inventory to 2000 items at the start because of server lag that came from having 3000+ items. I think that was after introducing the deletion of items on the ground after 12 hours too.
Niantic and logic have this wide paradox
I currently have 20 unused and unwanted Apex boosts in my inventory. 52 years from now they'll consume 100% of my inventory space. (And no, I don't want to just activate them and get 1K AP that I didn't earn.)
Just activate them and don't play. No need to be dramatic.
You earned the AP by purchasing the monthly C.O.R.E. pack.
Purchasing things is not earning them in my book.
And I'm not being dramatic, I'm just being frustrated. I think being able to discard unwanted items in my inventory is a perfectly reasonable request. I can discard purchased items in Pokemon Go... why not Ingress?
As far as I know, you can't discard eggs in any way possible

this forum REALLY needs a laugh response...
lol "GUID is a string". do you write code? in most implementations, a GUID is a 128 bit number. SIXTEEN BYTES, in layman's terms.
if you just want an apex out of your inventory, "use" it. done.

I guess they never go to bed...

But sir, that visual warning before recycling already exists, you are speaking about another one?
Premium(cosmetics) items should not take up inventory space.
For Ex: Gifts/stickers in PGO doesn't take up inventory space.

The reason is because Prime uses the same engine as Go does. It's the best way to compare to other Niantic entities.
Go limits on what you can't delete. So does Prime.

When CORE first came out, it did not include Apex for unrecursed players. They changed is a couple months ago to be for all players.
If Niantic put it back, or simply not include the Apex, I could subscribe again without getting unwanted Apex.

bloody whingers.
simple fix is to add in a setting to enable or disable reycle of boosts just like pogo have it for transfer of legendaries in bulk etc.

You're right. "If you are Recursed, you also receive a Battle Beacon".
Same issue though... Battle Beacon's can't be recycled.
