Add option to remove Boost

Boosts or Premium Items can't recycle. But it is taking the inventory space. Some agents holding a number of premium items that can't use or recycle. It will be a good idea to add an option to recycle the premium items or remove them from the inventory count.

Which ones can't you use?
Yeah, the standard response from Niantic is to use them. It's far better than having people complain that they accidentally recycled an item they paid for, and now they want a refund or a replacement.
Recycling just presents more support work for Niantic.
It's correct. But some times using the items is also time consuming like beacons.
Not exactly. If I don't have enough portals and due to the current situation, it's very time consuming if I need to burn 40 Beacons in a single portal.
Why did you must of 'purchased' them at some point....
Would be nice if
A) they didn't count to active inventory.
Or
B) easy removed via support options so there is a 'paper' trail
If you need to burn them, why would you do it on a single portal?
read the post, the dude already said only one portal is currently available in his scenario
Maybe there is only 1 nearby (and he/she can't go far because of the pandemic), but in that case i would suggest to go for the new hackstreak badge and place 1 beacon a day while making that first hack of the day.
I do understand that the delete option is wanted, but it needs at least 5 'are you sure' clicks or this forum will be flooded with 'i just .... tears' 😅
I know its difficult times, but still not enought to implement a feature that will do more harm than good and just appeal for very few agents.
You problem can be solved with a quick bus/car/train trip. Don't forget that you get AP for using those itens.
How do you have 40 beacons? Items that have been given out are usually boosts and a couple of them can be enabled at the same time.
Solution is that this premium items don't count towards inventory.
+1 on this. Either allow me to recycle them or don't count them against my inventory.
I have a dozen Apex boosts right now and by the end of the first year of CORE I'll have 48 of them. I suppose "in ten years they'll be almost 20% of my inventory" isn't a compelling argument, even though it's the logical extension.
APEX are easy to get rid of though. Activate all of them before you go to sleep, then close the app.
As a note, @NianticBrian did already answer this question:
I support the option of premium items not counting in the inventory.
but if they count. so you need to have an option to recycle them.
I bought this item! I want to use it my way.
Many don't want to recycle.....
Recycle is not the answer....
Deletion via support request maybe.....
@KarM3L Nobody is forcing you to recycle, but "some people don't want to do it" isn't a reason not to offer the capability to others.
"Are you sure?"
"Are you sure you're sure?
Actually "Recycling creates an undue burden on the Support team because people are fallible and demanding" is a pretty good reason not to allow recycling of paid items.
Who on this forum in first priority cares about if something that adds convenience for players would cause additional effort for Support team?
Maybe you and you only. We are players and we pay for this game and we have the rights for requesting new feature. We are not unpaid beggars, OK?
This is not a solution and ideal justification. Ingress team techinically can add a user setting to let user decide whether to enable and show the recycle button for boosts or not.

Believe it or not, but Niantic doesn't have to make decisions based on your outrage. It's a business decision.
@Perringaiden That's true, I'm willing to invest at least a few sentences in convincing Niantic that it's not the best business decision.
Some players are going to end up with a growing collection of undesired Apex and Battle Beacons that they don't want and don't have a non-impactful way to get rid of. The impacted players will, to a large extent, be the people who care enough about Ingress that they voluntarily pay a monthly fee.
I note that both Pokemon Go and Wizards Unite allow me to recycle purchased items with impunity. It's hard for me to imagine that the support burden of allowing this in Ingress would be disproportionately large compared to those games.
Pokemon Go and Wizards Unite both also bring in far more revenue than they cost.
@Perringaiden I feel like you're making a hypothetical argument in this discussion. Has Niantic ever said that they won't let us recycle purchased items because the support cost of doing so is too high, or are you speculating?
I dont think niantic has thought it would be a problem that some users wants remove boosts from their inventory, majority uses those.
Imo, the correct solution is to not count premium items in the inventory towards the limit, if they are paid for, why should the count? I know the argument is server space or something like that, but with the money niantic is pulling in yearly, and more importantly with the core subscription also bringing in money, that server space shouldn't be an issue, just pay a bit more for the server space and allow things that people already pay for not to count in the inventory
I once had an argument for why (some) premium items should count towards the inventory limit:
Upon further thought, I could go either way with Apex, I suppose.
Maybe this could be flipped around: Give Support the ability to delete premium items from someone's inventory upon request.
I'm all on board with the "Boosts don't count toward Inventory" concept. Though they'd likely want a limit of something like 200 so you would have to eventually get back to using them.
Boosts used to be able to be recycled... Remember? They removed the ability because people were asking for them to be restored since they were paid items.
Read Brian's response above.
Or even have a locker or 2 to put them in if they are really against them not counting in inventory
If a Boost didn't count towards your inventory, would that not be considered an additional advantage over Agents who don't have Boosts? Or do you mean specifically, Beacons and Fireworks should not count towards inventory, but Battle Beacons, Portal Frackers, and Apex should?
