Yesterday I finished an 8km kinetic, not counted, as expected. Then a following 2km vrsh, surprisingly not counted, today finished a 2km sbul, counted.
Did you finish your 8km and your first 2km one within the first two hours of the event? In that case, head to this bug report and comment to annoy let Niantic know.
I just think there should be the Drone challenge before this kinetic challenge because here in Brazil, hospitals no longer support people with covid19.
I switched my first capsule from 7.9km to 8 two minutes after event start and it didn't count. The second one was ready over 4 hours later and did count.
There is no universally good speed threshold for separating cyclists from cars. I routinely cycle faster than 10mph (or did, pre-pandemic), and I know folk who are quite comfortable keeping up with urban car traffic.
Hi, I have a problem whit medal counter of this event.
I put items when event starts, approximately 5 or 10 minutes after the start hour. I walked and completed 2 programs for Jarvis virus, but event counter shows only one capsule complete.
(a) but for some reason the programmes created for this event are 4km rather than the 2km for the pre-existing programmes, so that's 16km total instead of 8km if you want to take advantage of those (and frankly I need hypercubes more than I need portal mods) - plus you've got to finish the 8km for the programme that was running before the event started. And (b) people can work on their health indoors - walking outside is not the only way to do that. Also you can cycle outside, and that's not counted so much towards the kinetic programme.
That said, the main reason why I'll find this challenge difficult is because I'm lazy and hate cold weather, not because I'm forbidden from going outside. The thing is, I still have to work full time for my employer but for the last year I've been denied the actual journey to work and back, so time for going outside is limited.

Ingress is all about choices on how to use your time. Do you blow up an enemy farm, build your own fields for AP or MU etc? Choosing which program is another key part. If you want to get Hypercubes, you will make capsules slower thus increment your badge slower. It's a choice.

There's a classic Ingress line on badges: "Not every badge is for every player". I've been racking up capsules all through winter. This challenge is an easy one for me.
"The next Optima Challenge will use the same Medal, and will also be measured by Programs completed. I'm not sure what the exact Silver and Gold tier requirements will be; however, the Programs completed during this event will carry over to Round II. For example, if Silver tier were 10 Programs and you completed 5 Programs during this event, then completing 5 more during the Round II bonus event window will unlock the Silver Medal."
Owww, I think I get it now. I read the "Complete any 4 Kinetic Capsule Programs during the Global Challenge and unlock your Optima Kinetic Challenge Medal." part and I thought that I needed to complete any one (any single one) of the 4 programs.

Bonjour quelqu'un pourrait m'aider pour le défi Optima je ne sais pas quoi faire ! Merci à vous.
Do you have a kinetic capsule? Check your inventory. If you have one load it and walk. 😎
Don't forget to fetch your free bundle in the in-game shop.
Where do i find the info on my progress?
On the profile page under Events.

Same for you, best to post in the bug report thread. Niantic didn't track the completed capsules within the first two hours of the event.

It's a global error or a particular situation?
Thanks
Capsules weren't counted for the first 2 hours. Head over to the bug report and comment:
Questions one , if I select 2km kinetic Capsule program on 4 times ,Can I get Optima medal ?
and than ,

A1 : Yes, you can
A2 : 2 Km program too (Old Program too)

Merci de M'avoir répondu bon jeu à vous et bonne Santé surtout faites attention à vous ! Bisous à vous de la France. Laurent37 😉
That might be related to the known display issues. This will probably be fixed when the event happens again with the tiers.
Done !
Done and dusted.
if I completed more than 4 programs for the badge, will the extra be carried over in future silver tier?
yes, as mentioned @NianticBrian :

When You say "your progress won't be reset when the 2nd challenge is held"
Does that mean only the 4 Kinetic Capsules you needed to receive the Bronze medal or the total number you completed during the 1st event?
yes, for the current Round, we only need to complete 4 program to unlock medals
The total number won't be reset. If you complete 10 Capsules during this event, you'll start the next event with a 10 point "headstart".
Amazing event! I've done 3 so far. :D
When is the medal given? At the end of the event or ...?
The medal is given when you complete your fourth capsule. 😃
Owww, I think I get it now. I read the "Complete any 4 Kinetic Capsule Programs during the Global Challenge and unlock your Optima Kinetic Challenge Medal." part and I thought that I needed to complete any one (any single one) of the 4 programs.
So minimum 4 programs (2Km each), right? :D
Thanks man!
Very Rare Portal Shield; Heat Sink; Multi-Hack; SoftBank Ultra Link Programs
*Kinetic energy distance reduced from 8km to 2km
The other programs have 4km.... All of this will be available for the duration of the event
