Really looking forward to more Agents being included in the beta program. The current Vanguards provide a lot of feedback on the beta but the program as a whole will absolutely benefit from having more eyes. 📱👀
I'm really happy that Niantic is taking steps to be more enganged with the community and have more beta testers, I hope this program is successful and that they continue this way.
Before they release a new version, they deliver that build to employees and Vanguards, to try out and find any issues. Essentially 'pre-release testing'. I don't know how often they'd put something there then pull it back, but for example, the Vanguards all had subscription benefits prior to release, through it, to test.

I don't see why not.
A step in the right direction atleast.
I like the idea of a small group of players willing to put with bugs so that they can be fixed before a public release.
What is the beta program exactly? Is it just used to test new features before adding to the main game?
