I am so grateful for this change. It was incredibly bad UI to grab the user's eyeballs for an effect that gave no information. Also far less headache-inducing!
I think that instead of having all 4 channels in the same line will be really messy in a lot of languages, it is either being to cluttered or overlapping. How about putting the news (and chat) on another line? There's is plenty of space on the top for more options and bigger characters.
The white background on the news feed does not really fit in, can this be changed to a dark background so it has the same color visuals overall as the scanners other tabs ?
I am also thankful the pulse animation was removed - was never a big fan of it really it was more annoying then helpful.
Brian, Can we set up a FS mission for each FS of 2021 using the official Niantic artwork as the badge for the mission? Also, can we make it so that the Drones can complete these specific missions? (Hack Only) Was thinking a code could be added to the mission creation app that would designate the mission as a FS mission and the designer could put a start date and time for the approved mission. The FS designator would make the mission expire, or close 24 hours after going live.
Personally, I find the white flash from a field whose anchor just took damage to be far more blinding than the pulse ever was. It's especially bad if the field fills my screen:
XMP goes off. Entire screen (field) flashes white. XMP goes off. Entire screen (field) flashes white. Repeat until both the field and my eyesight have died.
On the other hand, I only noticed the pulse when sitting at home, in a coffee shop, etc., never when actually moving out and about.
I hope there is a way to decrease the font size in General (I hope you add controls for this via the settings or follow Global phone settings) and decrease white space in Comms area - the space wasted is too much and the large fonts make it hard to read quickly.
Guessing some things were changed regarding jailbreak detection. Am on a phone that was jailbroken at one time, but has since been updated to stock iOS version. Ingress and Pokemon Go no longer open, though PoGo hasn’t opened for awhile. I’ve been playing Ingress just fine since ios14 came out
just hit 16, so that’s kind of a cool bug “fix”, thanks...
Also, can we please please please finally have a fix for the 24/12 hour time format? I'm from Europe, and I don't have 12 hour format selected anywhere. Please respect the system regional settings and apply 24 hour format. :(
a) the second layer was the pulse igniting the field.
No, I'm pretty sure it was not. It was a very subtle effect, but meant that the repeating pattern seen over the fields very slowly changed over time. It no longer does so. In fact the one layer that is still there does move, but so slowly you can't really perceive any motion if you stare at it. (The other layer that used to be there also used to move so slowly you couldn't really perceive any motion. But over time you would notice that the texture had changed.)
b) It's still multiple layers, they just don't cause moire patterns.
They were not really Moiré patterns. Just subtle changes in the field texture.
c) Now its more like Redacted, which everyone wants.
They look nothing like the fields did in Ingress 1.x. The fields there were gentle rolling clouds; this is a very obvious tile with some wavy lines on it.
This may depend on the depth of the field - I'm sitting under about 10 layers here so the pattern is very pronounced.
Your screenshot is indeed of gently rolling clouds. Oh, sure, if I look at it long enough, yes, I can see the tiling, but that wasn't my first, second, or third impression.
In Prime, the tiling is my first impression. It has that 90s feel of "ah, yes, a flat surface in need of a texture, let us repeat the same small square of pixels over and over and over again."

When can we download version 2.60.2 in the play store?
We need ability to change in-app language on android devices right now!

@NianticBrian please consider this.

Made a extremely fancy pulse in 2.0, and delete it in 2.59.
Ok, what do you what to remove next?
Take those smoky sxxt away and give the pulse back to me. plz
Added News Feed to COMM
Maybe if you'd invert the chronology of the normal COMM it would be usable again? 🤔 Oh wait, then it probably got stuck at the bottom instead...
But thanks for the new tab anyway, such an incredible improvement to the gameplay 🙄
What ever happend to the graphic displayed when deploying resonators?
And why in the world are we still hearing "Resonator deployed" when entering portal view in range of the portal even before we deploy a resonator?
That's a bug, for reference.
I'm the only one who didn't notice any pulse for like a year?
I remember prime having a fancy pulse on fields, but only in the beginning. It went away when they put the texture.
The pulse was in 2.57...
They toned it down because originally fields didn't appear except in the pulse's wake which was even worse.
I agree, but that is not a thing in 2.57.
Maybe they can decrease the frequency to make it less annoying. Once per minutes would be nice...

Your thoughts?
Changes I'd be happy with:
Without those changes, the pulse will continue to be a net negative with loud noise and bright light causing headaches and night blindness.

I don't disagree, but it's still there, not being asked to return.

If the pulse is brought back please make it more like the one in redacted to avoid the issues that the one in prime had
Why did the colors on iOS change?

IDK what's up on iOS but for me on Android on English (UK) phone language I have 24h format.
This changed on iOS about 6 patches ago. It’s really annoying.
You're hearing it because you have the sound turned on...
The texture on a field used to be two layers moving over each other; now it's just one and it looks awful.

The tiling is quite obvious even with one layer, especially if there's nothing under the field (roads, outlines of buildings, etc.).

Lol, if you can't see the repeating tile in that...

Exactly. It was worse with the earlier versions of Prime, but I still feel it's something some intern rushed after someone asked for textures.
