Forum - "Mark all viewed" doesn't work

When tapping on your profile picture -> profile icon, you get the option to choose to mark all posts as viewed, removing the "X new" tag beside posts. This has worked in the past, but broke a few weeks ago. When tapping on it, even while the conformation pops up, the posts aren't actually marked as read.
I'm using Chrome on Mobile as an example, however it also doesn't work on Desktop.

Oh, good question actually, apologies. Given that the sams bug reporting tool is also enabled on the Catan forums and that I also reported forum bugs there, I assumed we can do so here.

Good question, lets keep all bugs here for clarity's sake but leverage the tags to keep everything organized.
With regard to the 'mark as read' issue, it seems to only be affecting mobile browsers, as I was just able to successfully mark a category as read via my web browser but replicated the issue on mobile.
I'll file a ticket with our platform provider to look into this further. Thanks for surfacing!
I'm using Firefox 84.0b7 (64-bit) and the mark as viewed doesn't work for me on desktop.
Would it be possible to get some more tags then? 😉
As @Atunatunak said, using "Mark All Viewed" doesn't work on Desktop for me either. Using Chrome on Desktop.
This might be an issue with Vanilla forums as @NianticCasey has poked at. Outside of their control.
On an unrelated note, does desktop still show the background pic of submitting your favorite portals? I don't see it on mobile but it shows up for me on desktop...and I'm pretty sure that was a year ago

The category option for "Mark Read" works on desktop.
However, the button off the Profile icon "Mark All Viewed" does not work on desktop.
Neither "Mark All Viewed" nor "Mark Category Viewed" works at all on desktop. But it does work on the Wayfarer Forums, so it shouldn't be a browser specific issue.

Addendum: I even tried it on Microsoft Edge Chromium and it still doesn't work.
Maybe @InvestigateXM should reference his topic about the differences between this forum and the Catan one. It seems like each forum runs on a different version of the Vanilla forums. I have seen this same functionality if you host MediaWiki (the engine framework for Wikipedia) on your server.
Oh boy, I dug into the Vanilla Forums regardless if it's cloud-based or server-based and noticed this issue has been present in the code...
