I belive incorrect strike then they reversed it and restored account.
Do you get the notification each time you start ingress, or is it shown only once? I'm using several devices and often, for example level up "notifications", have been shown on a device I'm not using.
No offense here, but I will believe that statement when it’s made by a niantic official. Because I updated and got no notification, yet support sent me the “you cheated” email.
With the seed of doubt planted; I can’t take your word for it, unfortunately.
For me it was just once
I'm trying to get support to say if I have a strike or not.. Good luck
Same here, I don't want to have to use GDPR here, but if it's the only way to find out if I should believe the Niantic's messages or Niantic's actions, then I'm prepared to.
Hey @NianticBrian this is my week stats based on my current motivation for the game at the moment.
How about a straight up answer and maybe an apology to those who got hit by an incorrect strike?
At this point, I think you’d be more successful if you send him a message on Twitter. I think it’s safe to say we won’t get any answers on their ingress dedicated forums. (Unfortunately)
I did post a comment in Brian's post about the interview
Yeah, a reply in this topic clearing up the still existing doubts that surround this should be a priority. What is stopping them from just posting in this topic that the people that got comms back and intel several days later didn’t get a strike and support was wrong.
So I got this warning in-game last time yet my COMMs and intel was perfectly working. I sent another ban appeal, and this time the response was that it was escalated for further review, instead of a canned response. So something did happen to my account.
and u did nothing to deserve a warning right?
I think so. Cause I got warned for 3rd party programs, and I never used them.
I also understand that it is only my words, and no one can vouch for me 100%.
"no one can vouch for me 100%", this is a huge issue for me as well. I don't think I am fit for some "positions" in my community if I have a strike for an unknown reason. I really need to know if I have a strike or not on my account.
This IS the most depressing part, one reason this mega thread was started later than the actual time of event. I say I did nothing, but at the same time I tell them not to vouch for me in the rare case I really did something wrong. That will put the agents who vouched for me in a very embarrassing situation.
This was posted by Niantic:
1. Ingress 2.55.1 is not displaying the Strike 1 Warning Screen. Updating to Ingress 2.56.2 will display the Warning Screen so Agents can acknowledge and dismiss it and regain access to Intel Map. We strongly recommend updating to the latest version of Ingress if you have not done so already.
2. Some Agents incorrectly received a Strike 1, and due to the technical issue above, these Agents were able to access Ingress with 2.55.1 but not access Intel Map. Please note the incorrect Strike 1 did not affect every Agent who upgraded to iOS 14, and also affected Agents across different OS versions and devices. Our team has reversed the incorrect Strike 1 on these accounts, and they should now be able to access Intel Map. If you continue to experience any issues, please update to Ingress 2.56.2, clear your browser cache and cookies, then log back in to Intel Map.
So it leaves some room for interpretation, but in General if the warning screen is displayed in 2.56.2, you got the first strike. If it is not displayed, maybe you still got a strike, but Niantic doesn't tell You. So as NIA is not willing or doesn't have enough manpower to answer our individual requests, they should display the strike count in the All stats.
Otherwise there is no other way, than to receive your data via the GDPR tequest and find out the counter value by your own.
I got the strike after I upgraded to 2.56.2 but then it went away the next day. So I truly don't know if I really got a strike or a mistake was made. I don't use any third party stuff. In addition, my appeal submission got escalated only to get this canned response:
As long as you're abiding by the Ingress Terms of Service (https://www.nianticlabs.com/terms/) and the Ingress Community Guidelines (https://niantic.helpshift.com/a/ingress/?p=web&s=agent-protocol&f=ingress-community-guidelines), there should not be any reason for concern.
Then why give me a strike if there is no reason for concern. Because your QA is bad?
I can't really find any clear statement about me not getting a strike or not in the conversation I had with support before but I am gonna take this as a confirmation that my initial strike was incorrect and that my honor has been restored.
Well that is clear enough. You are innocent. Good news man!
This is what I got
Hahaha, well I just got this reply though:
Guess I'll wait to see what the outcome of the investigation will be, and how they will fix it. Seeing how this all went, I'm expecting another ban hahaha.
So is it safe to upgrade to iOS 14 now or is NIA still ”working on it”?
I want to know too. I still have Prime uninstalled on my iPhone since after I recieved the Intel-ban.
So.. either people stopped getting bans and it is fixed, or this topic is just dead? Really would like to get a clarification, especially from NIA of course.
@NianticBrian is it safe to update to iOS14?
The only thing I can now tell you with absolute certainty, is that you won’t get an answer here...
Still haven't installed it back on my iPhone. Still bummed.
Kinda sad, really. And unfortunately, there probably won't be an answer, ever.
Here, lets have an issue, that we'll sweep under the rug and assume people will forget in a couple weeks time. Curious what the reason is for such pis$ poor communication.
My sojourner is currently at 2056. I guess I can post here and ask for clarification everyday and eventually get banned for that instead.
