Very well said, I feel the same way.
This experience has left a very sour taste in my mouth. I still love the game and the community of players are amazing, but unfortunatly Niantic does not fit in that image.
Please learn from this Niantic and be better with communication the next time something like this happens. Its not the bugs/mistakes that make us lose trust in you, its how you handle them.
I updated to iOS 14.0.01 or whatever it was.
No issues now. It seems everyone has had access fully restored.
My access to the map appears to be restored as of this morning, but how do any of us know we don’t still have a strike?
We don't. @NianticBrian is going to update us today on the findings of the team in regards to the restoration of access. My replies to support are no longer being answered (at all).
I have uninstalled both IITC and Ingress from my iPhone, which is my primary game device. Not sure if I can install them or if that will get me another strike. Advising all community members to not to install iOS 14 together with prime.
I'm totally bummed about this. I've lived with ingress for over seven years and then gets pointed out as a cheater.
I am(was?) one of ENL Sweden's POC's. If I do get a strike I don't think I am suitable to be in that position anymore. I have received so much support from players saying that Niantic must be wrong, they know I don't cheat, but.. Players can trust each other enough to know who is playing fair or not, but if Niantic says someone cheated then maybe they know more. This puts me in a very awkward position. This have caused so much damage and most of all it ruined a lot of love and motivation for the game.
This exactly is expressing my feelings as well. Before this even the leading RES agents in my area confirmed that I’m a fair player, that does not cheat. I even refused to use IITC.
When I got the notification in the Intel, I thought it was simple bug. My community told me then, that this was the „first strike‘.
Ok **** happens. I have worked long enough in the software industry to know, that these bugs happen, especially with the release of a new OS Version.
So I expected the support people to say something like „Sorry agents we had some issues with the new iOS, but we will fix it soon“.
But the contrarily happened. The communication was like: „Agents we caught you cheating. We have enough evidence. So we don’t have to tell you what you did wrong. Find out by yourself. But stop doing this again“
When I read this I stopped playing immediately. We are still customers of Niantic and NO company who worships and wants to keep their customers treats them like this.
It’s not enough to just restore my access. I'm still awaiting an official explanation and apology from Niantic. Not for the bug, but for their way to treat their customers.
On this I depend my decision to continue playing or cancel my account
Yet, here we are, a full working day after the weekend and still not a peep...
Not to be "that guy", but you may have set your expectations a bit high.
So we release another useless update without actual fixes? Cosmetic changes, how about fixing the black screen before portals load? How about a fix for linking?
Even more stupid than that is promising your players insight on a situation that has been keeping them on edge for more than a week?
@NianticBrian I thought we would get an update. Leaving your players hanging like this is just plain rude. I thought we were getting somewhere, but guess not. Get your priorities straight man.
Perhaps they’re still working on a response from the ban hammer issue two weeks ago...
I totally agree on the update. Niantic you are so poor at communicating, and you lose so much easy player points by it. If we got hit by some mistake in Niantic's anti-cheating algorithms you owe us a big apology. It would mean so much and it wouldn't cost you anything.
The silence is deafening.
my intel started working yesterday - have the same feelings about potential strike. Meanwhile, there was a field covering the city (Baltimore, MD) - made with secure portals at night - and it was spoofed down last night. But lets give iOS 14 users a strike for updating their OS.
After prime ask me to log in again today, I got intel back. On 14.0.1 and no problems as of yet.
Another working day passed in Europe. It's morning in USA, so let's hope we'll get an update today.
At this point, they might as well just turn the game off. Yes, I am serious. We're a year into Prime being the only scanner and it's still buggy beyond belief. The community has no trust in Niantic, people keep leaving, numbers are way down and portals are gray all over. And they won't even communicate with us because apparently, we're not worth their effort.
The truly sad part is we've fought tooth and nail to prevent it from getting to this point and they just... didn't listen.
Yeah, prime has been in development for four years. Seeing where it is at now, with linking not even working reliably, they release nonsense after nonsense.
Latest addition, a 5 dollar wintrade beacon, that flips inoculated portals. Good job!
Communities have turned to ****. Players actively recurse opposite of each other and just wintrade to L16 in a month or two, reporting does NOTHING. It’s so sad.
In the meantime I’ve heard about those stupid battle beacons through the app, e-mail, telegram and Reddit. Like ****.
And we still have banner missions backlog still no answer whats up with that and all agents that got innocent strike penalty ??
The latest update of Prime is available on the AppStore. After installation I did'nt receive any strike
How do you know you didn't receive a strike?
The support had indicated in its email response that we would receive a notification when the next update of the application would take place.
Just installed, no notification. Still has the issue with not fully loaded map on startup. Still has comms issues.
It's all fun and games, but support still said I cheated, and @NianticBrian has gone totally silent once again. Would be great if ANY of the Niantic staff could verify it indeed was in error. This is getting absolutely ridiculous.
I know it is not helpful for all, but I can say that for me all is working fine again. I installed the latest scanner software few hours ago and I did not get any notification saying that I got a strike. So apparently I'm one of the lucky ones...
I don't think any of us will get a notification when launching Prime, since our access has been restored. What bugs me is that support sent me an e-mail that I cheated, and Niantic was going to update us on that. (Monday, after leaving us hanging the whole weekend, but it's Wednesday now and still no update anywhere.)
@NianticBrian did we get a strike or not?
I still haven't installed prime back on my iPhone. Only hacking couch portal with my Android device atm. Playing turf instead.
I’m playing on my iPhone, running 14.0.1. I did nothing wrong so can’t be bothered to do anything different. At this point, if it gets me banned, so be it.
