What sets Ingress apart from other games

  • Yeah sure thing .... just that I have not started but continued to think this. But the core of the game remains the same. It is not suddenly changing from ingress to WoW or similar.

  • Aren't players and dying communities signaling that a conservatively snobbish approach to gameplay is killing the game?

Firstly, characterising it as a snobbish approach is rude. You are "snobbishly" declaring that your way is the only way because you are bored.

Secondly, you again failed to address the point. The gameplay, the shiny toys etc, are not the problem. The community is the problem and nothing you've proposed will fix the community.

Anomalies are already a thing, you didn't invent them. During anomalies you make triangles very fast in close proximity to the enemy. But you're still making triangles. It's simply Ingress condensed.

You need to start making specific examples of what you want to change, because no-one will ever give you a blank slate to change what you want. That's why older players are against you. Because we've all seen thousands of horrible proposals couched in "It's time for change", when really it's some pet idea that's badly thought out and horribly designed.

Vague notions of change are useless.

What sets Ingress apart from other games, is the community and the way that existing gameplay fosters that community.

If you want to change the gameplay, you're going to have to prove that your change improves the community, not just gives you a sensory dopamine rush.

It's a pity that such a kind topic was ruined by one person and transformed to some offtopic talks. I propose you @Perringaiden and others to ignore the posters of off-topic and talk about what was originally intended.

Well said sir. We don't need the concept of Ingress to constantly change to keep having fun. Because it is a lifestyle, we change our own gameplay to make fun for ourselves. Players themselves have and always will find new and innovative ways to play this "game".

pokemon and harry potter are so boring compared to ingress... even if playing solo or with others there is more fun and interesting things to do... thats why i still play this game since 2012..

Only been playing less than two years. I like picking up and putting triangles in spots that are from my usual rutted track to keep people guessing, be unpredictable, and force reaction from strangers so I get a line on their play.

Equal parts, strategy, know your customers, build calmly, link with the discipline of an Old Master artist, and take down with the ferocity of a berserker warrior.

ingress really makes you go to different locations. U go to that specific location to make a micro or huge field or to clear / make blockers. i must say i've been to location of which w/o ingress i'd never would go to. You'll also receive 'rewards' for visiting new locations (banner on your profile, medals,...). And also players can create content like portals or mission banners. And also there is a strong community
