@cheatch You are correct that selling recharge badges caused Niantic to take the badge away until they could figure out a way to verify recharging. I still want recharge to DIAF as a concept because I think it takes away from the fun of ground play.
I want anomalies to come back, but in a different form. I want the outcome to be driven primarily by the skill and ingenuity of players on the ground and not the raw number of attendees. If they could instance playboxes I think it would be fun to have field art competitions. One round would be Niantic giving dispatch a field pattern then the teams would compete to see who could complete it fastest. Another round would have each team design and create their own field art pattern within a given playbox and then the results would be judged by a panel at Niantic (after having the identifying info stripped.) The third round could be having an instanced playbox and microfielding it as fast as possible, with points scored for time spent, number of fields created, maximum layer depth.
I want the outcome to be driven primarily by the skill and ingenuity of players on the ground and not the raw number of attendees
Teamwork and recruiting is part of the strategy, and the only way you can make an anomaly not affected by numbers, is to limit the number of people who can attend.
Which defeats the whole point of the exercise...
From a business perspective, an anomaly is about getting as many people excited in one location as possible. The outcome is irrelevant to the company, because the outcome they need is the numbers. Limiting numbers defeats the purpose, and anything that favours a smaller team will cause people to arbitrarily limit their own numbers to take advantage of it.
Besides, Ingress is dying so any boost in numbers would be a godsend.
I would be ok with remote participation in an anomaly, however through different methods other than recharge like connect cells / DRONES
It needs to be 100% verified through NIA only. When the POC's / Vanguard / etc have any power over the granting of the medal, you end up with those people selling the medal either directly or through overprice swag purchase
If there is remote participation allowed, it all should be public information, there was no public process for 'recharge' or 'intel', it was closed information
Brian Rose made a very interesting post last Dec, he clearly did not like the way anomalies were being done. Ingress's player base being smaller actually might be a good thing cause it allows NIA to play test new things more easily. These things can be use in Catan / GO / WU.
If really wanted to make their player base bigger, it really is simple but I don't think NIA wants a big player base for Ingress.
Read the topic? OP is accussing agents abusing burster stacking because someone dared taking his portal while he was sitting on WiFi with 100x better latency.
My area has had agents accused of and banned from their account of this very thing.
The problem is not burster stacking, its how remote recharging is broke, it should be fixed
EDIT
I actually created a topic about this, you know what happened? It got locked and I got a forum account warning level 1 for it, it expires in 2061
@cheatch : The problem is not burster stacking, its how remote recharging is broke, it should be fixed
To be honest, I've never found a situation where I couldn't terminate an unlinked, unshielded portal, against rechargers.
Recharging isn't really the issue with defensive capability, it's stickiness and shielding. Dial shields back to 10/20/40 (ditch Aegis) and with relative changes in stickiness, being on site would far outweigh any remote capability.
I usually work off the logic that a portal will be fully charged right up until the last shield goes. And if the recharging is making things annoying (usually because I'm 80m from a resonator) ultrastrikes in the right place will usually get enough resonators down for the links to drop, and then Bob's your Auntie.
You can be honest and claim that all you want, however you are wrong.
There should be never a situation where someone on a cellphone network has to 'battle' someone sitting at the desk on their WiFi.
Even if you have the best cellphone plan, your best latency is 100 ms, the person on WiFi has 20 ms (5x), but if you are in a 3g network, it can be 25x worse (~500ms).
Instead of fixing the real problem like when EXO5 situation occurred, they are wasting engineering time again on helping the poor souls sitting on their WiFi.
Same situation occurs with Pokemon Go Gyms, players figured out how to get around the feeding berries while the gym is under attack and abuse it.
I'm willing to bet Niantic will make the similar game design flaw in Catan.
Wizards Unite was smart and there is no portal / area control however that is part of the reason it is not as successful.
The topic lock was definitely well justified because you literally called out people who recharged. You never get it after it's presented back to you. It's part of the toxicity of what Ingress has (I wish I could say had) where everyone worries about what other people are doing where they forget the actual fun that's there.
I'm so glad to have First Saturdays so I can talk to my opposing faction and realize - oh ya, they're humans too. I rather nip any bad feelings and let grudges die because it's not worth it to have such negativity. I mean I even knew with the anomalies it was the POCs from both factions who made it possible to have the events we had.
Just let it go on what remote participants do. People don't always have the opportunity to go to events. Your on boots experience is never nullified.
I know TS and the problem. We know people on both sides are using this "exploit". Some justifies it by "only using it VS people that used it on them first".

To the original topic re: addressing XMP stacking, this change is now in the latest version that is beginning to roll out now. It also includes fixes for low-signal or poor data connections, and we'd love to hear your feedback as more Agents update to Ingress 2.53.2 over the next week: https://community.ingress.com/en/discussion/11867/ingress-2-53-2-release-notes
If you read "Read the topic? OP is accussing agents abusing burster stacking because someone dared taking his portal while he was sitting on WiFi with 100x better latency." from the topic i think you need english lessons :) I started this topic to minimize the accusations being thrown between the factions, nothing else. Also, seems like you need an attitude adjustment in general
Thx, our (good cell service) area will now be free of this exploid/cheat 👍️. Some agents used it to falsify low cell service to destroy whatever they wanted. Well done Brian 😎
Hey, you got your way, NIA wasted more engineering time for people who like to play Ingress on their WiFi / couch, so not sure why you are gloating? But please keep projecting
Just like you do not understand how remote recharging kills anomalies / Ingress, you do not understand how censorship (attitude adjustments) kills forums.
Personally I sort of like this change because I can keep continuing not attacking portals and not farming.
This sounds way more like you came across a challenge and instead of reassessing and trying a new approach you're just angrily lashing out at other players and Niantic.
I played in a low signal area today, and the inability to stack seemed to work just fine. After a couple pending xmp I got a message about "channel too hot" and just had to wait a couple seconds for the pending actions to play out on the server side. I like it, because I don't waste unneeded xmp by setting extra ones off after the portal is neutralized.
Attacking a portal that is being remote recharged is part of the gameplay. I've successfully taken such portals many times, even a P8 with ageis shields and links. You have to move around to get the resonators, focus a few US on the portal to knock off the shields, and if all else fails there's always the virus option if you really want that portal neutralized and are willing to sacrifice the potential AP.
I reassessed a long time ago, I don't attack portals, farm for bursters, or get into 'battles' with agents sitting on their WiFi, instead I play Pokemon GO / Wizards Unite
Even in Pokemon GO gyms, you can't recharge while the gym is under attack (unless you use an exploit), maybe some folks from Game Freak should take a look at Ingress's flawed game design of the portal 'battles'
I know this might be a difficult concept for you however just because I might disagree with what you say does not mean I'm angry at you
Where did i gloat? You are constantly putting words in my mouth and claiming things i have not said or done. Attitude adjustment has nothing to do with censorship, it's just that i don't like when douches are trying to twist my words. Please don't assume what i do/do not understand and read the original post properly
That's the thing about people like you, you are never happy, NIA wasted engineering time to make you happy, was it enough? Nope, gotta call everyone who disagreed with you 'douches' just to gloat some more, please keep projecting, I will keep assuming until I'm censored / warning level 2 / banned for 'wrongthink'
I quit playing PoGo about 9 months ago or so, but I definitely remembering being able to feed the pokemon golden berries to keep them from being taken out. I think there was a limit on how many you could feed, but if everyone was feeding berries in the gym, it would take awhile to run out
Sorry to bump an old subject, but apparently the stacking issue is back and some agents have figured out a way to work around the fix Niantic rolled out about a year ago. There are theories about the process, but I wont elaborate on them here simply because I don't want this disease getting about anymore than it already is. The difference in "**** skills" is notable and registered by more than myself. Is it even worth the hassle to report as breaking of TOS?

Wrong, topic is more or less about remote participation in Ingress, which is going to be a huge factor of future of Ingress.
How is burster stacking exploit connected to "remote participation in Ingress"?? Please move to another topic.

It's been true for the last 7 years. Wifi or no, you can't beat someone onsite without being onsite.

3.1 Cheating
"Cheating includes any action that attempts to or actually alters or interferes with the normal behavior or rules of a Service."
Fiddling with your internet connection to stack bursters should be classified as cheating and not just like using an exploit.
So bad of an excuse!
"That guy is a lamer, I'm gonna be a lamer too".
5 y/o logic.

Sooo, I was wondering now, if stacking has finally been fixed, does this mean low service portals are now "stronger"?
They're less likely to be killed by overwhelming force due to latency issues.
Sorry to bump an old subject, but apparently the stacking issue is back and some agents have figured out a way to work around the fix Niantic rolled out about a year ago. Definitely happening. Almost to the point where if I see certain agents attacking, I don’t even bother defending
