If you happened to save any of your G+ sitreps, I would love it if you reposted them here. I miss our history.

Comments

  • I know I snagged a copy of Journey of Joy while I could, as it's one of my all times favourites, but I feel like the original posters ought to be the ones to repost here if possible.

  • StranditStrandit ✭✭✭

I could probably talk Pongo into that, or get her permission to repost it. ;)

Happy to do, but apparently it's so long I need to post it a chapter at a time. I'll post it as soon as Chapter 1 is out of the moderation queue. :)

  • I totally agree on this part.. I miss peoples sitreps from Gplus days. Facebook is certainly not the same.

  • Like an archive ... I'll check what the google takeout format is and how it fits in... :)

  • is there a way we can access this data retrospectively... seems I missed out the urgency to back up the data and download it all.

  • "Sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." – Lewis Carroll

157 ENL agents collaborated on 29-JUL-2017 to execute Operation Pontytongs: a 38 layer BAF with anchors in McConnellsville, OH, Kingston, ON, and Lancaster, PA. Each layer was worth approximately 5,000,000 MU and accumulated to just under 192,000,000 total MU, roughly half of which was live at the 2200 EDT checkpoint. The play spanned roughly eight weeks from conception to execution.

This operation was one of 17 simultaneously executed fields in eastern North America and Europe that comprised Operation Tangram.

Major challenges arose in all phases of the undertaking: from design, when it became clear that we would have to cut through almost every link in the Big Blue Blob over Lake Erie and the Buffalo area, to recruitment, when an unexpected avalanche of enthusiastic players came out of the woodwork, excited to get involved in strategic gameplay, to execution when agents and operators worked in perfect synchronicity to slash multiple hundreds of blocking links and execute airtight rails in just a four minute window. The effort was only possible due to the steadfastness, enthusiasm, and commitment to the principles of Enlightened gameplay of agents from Ontario, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia and Ohio, as well as an incredible 14-member operating crew from across all of North America.

Smart, dedicated people were asked to do a seemingly impossible job in a short period of time. They responded with hard work, good cheer, and selfless commitment. It is a plateau moment on a journey that started during Abaddon, caught fire during 13 Magnus, and shows absolutely no sign of slowing down. Hold on tight and don't blink. This party is just getting started.

Pontytongs: they're just like ordinary tongs, only pontier.

    Fun Facts:

    • Onyx Illuminator badges: 7
    • Field perimeter: 1,625 km
    • Surface area: 121,972 km^2

    • Parks legally accessed after dusk: 6
    • Anchor portals unexpectedly deployed on foot after stern-but-fair law enforcement intervention: 3
    • Longest one-way trip to clear a single blocker: 6 hours

Blaue Zelle Sitrep - English Version below

Also konnte es losgehen.

    Kaffee, Tee, Kakao, Hauptsache warm…

Check Point war auf 4 Uhr Nachts geplant.

Doofe Zeit.

    >>>>>>>>>>English Version

Once upon a time there was a smurfette who sparked the idea of a strangely shaped field. This field should be special, maybe consisting of partial fields, reaching into a center area, but in a way, that all partials made up a quadrilateral blanket over cell NR01-GOLF-11.

This design was worked on by a couple of other smurfs, perfected, some anchors were moved and moved again, the diagonals were optimized and eventually a result evolved - a multi layered lid for the cell.

This design went to sleep in the desert of pixels, slept for many months, forlorn, ignored until another smurfette opened a drawer in her memory, pulled out this design, introduced it to her companions roaming this cell. The decision ripened to transfer exactly this model into virtual reality of Ingress fields.

In the meantime experimental designs littered our field map, crossing links, new portals, so the plan was tidied up, sorted out and this plan was the base of Operation BlaueZelle (BlueCell)

A seemingly indestructible field came into existence, about two weeks from building time, but we are RES, we create a plan B and work it. This sitrep reports about exactly this Plan B.

Because of the uncommon field design, four triangular fields meeting in the middle at two different center locations, logistics was a scientific project. Keys were farmed, and farmed again, we fought miser portals, restrained to stay invisible, several business trips dubbed as means of transport. And at the end everything was where it should be.

Or… about everything. Enough to get started.

Not for the first time, and probably not for the last, Niantic brought up a surprise. Yes, we had know, that we wanted to build at an XM Anomaly weekend. But we had about a month to think about how Global Mu challenge would influence our project. It was a difficult decision - should we build at the end of Global Mu Challenge or, just regularly at the agreed checkpoint.

Then came the birthday of Ingress - double AP, plus double-8-double-7 portals.

With Ingress Prime came recursion - lower-AP-Level agents all over the place. Level 16 who want to level again. And they can set up portals like Level 1-2-3 agents. Links from those portals might not cover the desired distances...

The warning went out - level six portals might be difficult to create for formally-low-level agents, and all involved players were very responsible with their own recursion, postponed it, in case they wanted to recurse.

So we were ready to go. Groups and teams were built. New agents in the pool, until the last, the building day

This day approached. Cold wind all over Palatine, the Rhine valley, Heilbronn and surroundings, Lake Constance, Alsace, the Black Forest.

We agents needed warm clothing. Lots of thermos’ made their way into several smurf transporters. Coffee, tea, cocoa, warm liquids...

    Check point 4:00AM.

This is a weird timing. Sleep? Rather not. Maybe the alarm doesn’t work exactly this day.

Meeting point around 1:00 AM. Much too early. But in case Green builds something as well, it’s good to be able to react.

All over the place, Bergstrasse to Wertheim, West of Nuernberg, around the German French border, around the German Swiss border, in deepest Palatine our vehicles found their ways toward link corridors, anchors, virus-distribution locations, forest portals and the like.

A few obstacles had to be overcome and were overcome. One non accessible portal. Drive in from Switzerland, Austria, France. All were where they were needed and the first occasions of cleaning began to be visible on the map.

We could build fairly quickly and a lot of the field was up at checkpoint time.

Ghost fields disturbed the speediness somewhat, maybe it was the perspective toward long links

from under the field. Who knows.

Nothing which could really stop us.

A part stayed missing that’s why we built up a second time, a bit nicer and tidier now. And at the end we had a solid, blue field over our cell, which even survived the next checkpoint.

Our lid over NR01-GOLF-11 did not have to hide in the context of the other blue fields which were built that night.

A bit of celebration. Get some hot chocolate from the next agent. Then we drove home - many under solid blue sky.

    * Do I see that right - a random frog did my job?? Nobody ever goes there... 😖

    * 1112784 MU-days decayed for this project (Many thanks go to the responsible agent!)

    * Cargress 4h at night is cool. One can stop in midst a roundabout, and get that UPC in the middle.

    * I caught my first shiny Picachu - while waiting. 😱

    * We just went through a police control because of suspiciously loitering at that portal. 😂😂 ….. And we almost hit four wild boars. ……..Neither pigs nor police in the forest.😁…..I like police better in this case. That was a narrow miss - with 60km/h into a 200kg boar with three little ones. xD Gratefully both lanes of the road were free. #MooseTest

    * I really was glad that they did not check on us on the police control on B469. * When I saw all those cars standing there, thoroughly searched, in my inner eye I saw link time sailing away.

    * Are we through here? My alarm is ringing…(timer for recursion..)

    * T. and S. will each be at the portal at 3:30 and wait for the command to flip … Unless they should be there earlier..;) … 3:30? We want to link at 3:00…..

    * In the South we had a race. Who is first at the Running Man, may flip

    * Reaction of the police when someone drunk calls in the middle of the night, and tells them that there are two people who want to save Earth in the middle of the night on a graveyard… Would be interesting... 😂

    * This moment … when P. notices that he can’t get that easily rid of the Blue….

Standing in front of the bakery, who “supposedly” opens at 0700….. Maybe the rolls are immunized and can’t be flipped

    Layer Explosion Sitrep

    English version below

Nur her damit. Nehmen wir.

Let the blue sky light up

Grün weniger, also bekam der Freizeitpark nochmal Besuch.

Also los.

    Schafe ohne dicke Wolle 😁

    Immer gerne und gerne wieder.

    English Version

It was that time in the year for putting yet another blue roof over Karlsruhe. For it has been a while and for an established Fielder Smurf once commented my first larger field that each project can increase in size, it was motivation to get a new design out onto the field

Covering Rhine Main and Rhine Neckar regions. Take a few badges on the side.

Let the blue sky light up

A quadrangular shape jotted onto the map, polished at each corner. Four corners? Yeah. With a diagonal, shared link. We checked out each single corner, observing the intel for gaming activities. Who might live there, who could get out there and clean and link?

Who wants to drive to the corridors and remove stray blue and stray green linkage?

One Anchor portal was moved, another one moved and moved back to its original position.

The link corridors themselves had to be checked thoroughly. Nothing going through Kronau of course, but passing by Wuerzburg. Scratching Hanau. And one or the other highly populated area was in the way. Even more so if we went via a horizontal diagonal. So we designed vertically.

The final design was anchored in Idar-Oberstein, Freizeitpark Lochmühle, Rastatt for the Western field and Neustadt an der Aisch (NEA), Lochmühle und Rastatt for the Eastern field.

The diagonal went midways through the Rheingau. Ans a bit along the River Rhine, but also through Hamm, a small town close to Worms which is inhabited by 14 (!) frogs.

Just because their coat of arms is green, as I happen to know from a reliable source.

Design. Check. Set Layers. Check. We had a plan and we “only” had to go through with it. Our largest project to date but… see above… Increase is encouraged.

Forming a team of coordinators was next. We called for Eyes, and distributed agents into various chats. Asked them where they’d like to be. Looked for linkers. )This.Is.Your. Chance for a black Illuminator meda….Just drive to NEA or Idar Oberstein...

Driving should stay within limits for our cleaners.

Setting a date? Well, we had settled on a date in the very beginning which happened to be in school holiday time in Rhineland Pfalz and Hesse. This date approached quickly.

In the meantime we organized keys. And more keys… Agents without (!) kids went to a children’s park at the North Anchor. Idar Oberstein got visited and only the local agents were allowed to deploy. Which means that I will have to get there again, someday and complete my UPVs with getting UPCs.

No matter the view from the Burg Oberstein, is phenomenal

Keys from Rastatt made their way to us and even NEA eventually got a key capsule to us. This travelled farthest, though.

    Plus a few guard keys....

Keys were transferred in all direction. Two days before D-Day we were ready. Kind of. If… And only if there had not been this one green, non accessible portal at the Lochmühle. Nice if that is not accessible but bad if it’s green.

A call to all agents resulted in another group Resistance agents entering the children's’ park .

Eventually all was done and sorted.

The checkpoint we aimed at was 9:00AM. Niantic added into our calendars by calling a Mission Day in Cologne - one day before our construction day. They added an NL1331 event as well, one day after the project. ANd the frogs decided they needed a City Flip in Nuremberg.

Lotsa frogs. Just forty minutes away from the NEA anchor.

Rescheduling an option? Nope. We had 40 minutes until they would flood the area.

Next surprise by Niantic was the Cassandra Neutralizer event. Agents! Neutralize portals! Okay, empty portals are sporting no links. And.. nicely, there were fewer links on the map. But one day before the field date Niantic started to reward full portal deployment. But not early enough to account for links on our way.

All right. Lets go. Alarm clock to really early in the morning, and onto the road.

Everyone cleaned, flipped, demolished on command, whatever was necessary and possible. Agents had done a lot of pre-cleaning in the days before, but not we were close.

Perfect weather. Which is new because Karlsruhe roofs recently only required bad weather and aggravated circumstances.

And like on command… or just on command… the first links were up. And the first fields. And more and more fields and Layers exploded (and I admit the name is not too creative!)

Most of all was up in time for the checkpoint. And we just continued building until all possible layers were up.

By definition there would not be added anything, and we went, getting some coffee, and then home.

A bit feedback talk, and our chat filled up with pictures, like Rhine panoramas, vineyards, the Luitpold Turm, Good-Waether-pictures. #ReswueIsAwesome, #ThingsYouSeePlayingINgress, #Ingress, #LayerExplosion

    From the backlog there: :

We flipped frog HPs, glyphed them, and shot them down after an hour. He didn’t like that too much.

Welcome, IcePrincess38. Stay a while and listen.

We almost got a shower at the Queckbrunnen… The well is situated somewhat low in a little forest stretch, between two fields. When we were down there a car stopped further up and switched on the watering system. It almost reached the well but trees were protecting us from more water.

My license plate was jotted down. Unknown face. We don’t know him. Sunday at 8AM. The farmer was cleaning his machinery and grandmas were chatting.

Interesting stories? From NEA? It’s dead Sunday mornings . We passed a few chickens along the road. The brass band practiced in their rooms, and the ice cream parlor at the central but empty town hall plaza wasn’t done yet concocting their ice cream. Around 10AM they were overwhelmed by seven persons actually ordering ice cream. Even though we have been the only ones there.

In Schopp and Kindsbach no activity.

Same in Neuenstadt am Kocher...nothing...but decent coffee at the gas station. 😊

    Delicious Pretzel in Kindsbach 😂

It wasn’t a simple field…. But as you clearly can see… RES can do it😁

We dug up a folding chair in Neustadt (a German comedy movie reference to “dig up the hatched”)

Breakfast?? That was… three hours ago? Neee, at that time crawling out of bed was on the agenda. And grumbling about who came up with this idiotic time of day... And directly hitting the road.

    Sheep without thick wool 😁

This was fun. Delighted to build another one.

Very nice region, I had inspected a few weeks ago by a boat trip. After MD it was hard to wake up, even the coffee got cold. It was pure joy to see one layer after the other incoming. I am happy that I was on board while one of my favourite agent made the illu badge. In 5/6 years there were soo much fields she looked/watched on us. Congrats to all others too.
