I am planning to buy a cheap phone to play Ingress on.
Do you think Ingress would work on Itel p15.
This is smartphone with 1 Gb ram and using android Pie (go).
Some kind of light version of Android using less memory.
Thanks for your help!

I would suggest checking the requirements first. https://niantic.helpshift.com/a/ingress/?s=troubleshooting&f=supported-devices&p=web
Not anymore. Check the requirements and I advice you to test it on a store before you buy, or take trustable recommendation.
I doubt prime would even start on such phone... i would say min is 4gb ram for a phone so nothing older then 2017 released otherwise it will lag and heatup badly..
4GB???
Wow
I can run Ingress easily on an iPhone 5S (thats 1GB of RAM) and the phone was released in 2013
Ram isn't the issue so much, as the GPU. And a lot of those cheap mobiles, have terrible GPUs that render playing any modern game, unplayable.
Save your pennies, and get at least a mid ranger from within the last 2 years. Not a Xiaomi Redmi, as I don't belive the issues with those mobiles have been resolved when working with Ingress.
A flagship would be better, but many cannot afford that
On Android, I had problems with a 3GB Nokia 7.1. The same phone with 4GB works fine for Ingress, but when I switch to another app, Ingress will often need to restart.
Define “easily”. What is app start time? How fast do the memory leaks from attack animations make game a slideshow? How fast does the battery drain due to CPU running at full performance?
I have recently compared iPhone SE and iPhone SE2 performance with active Ingress play.
I would argue that game is hardly playable on iPhone SE, much less iPhone 5S.
It can run on iPhone 5S but it is not playable.
Define
cheap
as well :)You can buy Xiaomi or other Chinese brands for say $300 and it will definitely work fine. Proly will work on $200 worth phones like Redmi
Used to play on Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 with 4 Gb RAM the whole last year.
No issues at all and works pretty smooth.
Unless you unlock bootloader, install root and do stuff like that you shouldn't have problems. And yes, disable their game-boosting software
The SE2020 loads in half the time of the 5S but load is just that; load
Its a 1 time thing
There is no issue at all with animations from glyph hacks or attacks on 5S
Apple tends to make phones last (unlike Android)
Battery still gives a couple of hours which is great on such ancient phone; even a FS event is over after a couple of hours and like everyone else in the world if it does get dangerously low you can always recharge it a bit at end
