Site selling ingress items and accounts
In the last minutes comm is full of accounts tagging agents promoting an illegal site. No need to memtion the site here.Started yesterday but now it seems that is happening in larger scale. I increased the range from 100 to 500 and then maximum of 1000km from Athens in Greece to check comm. Multiple accounts of both factions just for spamming and selling items.
Reported already through in app bug report system

Same here. Lots of agents got pinged in cross-faction comms again this morning starting around 7 am Eastern Time.
Starting to wish there was a level requirement for using comms. That would stop all of these L1 bot accounts cold.
I got two this morning. @NianticBrian@NianticCasey can you please set up some kind of filter in comm? Here are two (I couldn’t see the first one in its entirety this morning)
Yeah I got comm spam too. From the local chatter almost everyone in my area (MSP) got one as well.
I hope @NianticBrian can help us close the page forever and send in one lawsuit.
There should be a smaller inventory cap to lv 1 as well, like starting with 500 and earning 100 more at each lv up to lv16/2000.
yep👍👍
Just got one this morning 11:44 am in Texas and 12:44
This is STILL happening?!🤦♂️
Have not seen this.. i guess its not that widespread worlwide like it was a few years ago? i thought these shops closed long ago... who want even get stuff there free? we all know niantic can track every capsule and item so all those items farmed by bots are useless, one day they can dissapear from your inventory.... hopefully they go away for good.. Just block them and report so niantic can take legal actions against those shops.
Same for me. Account was banned and post on COMM eventually removed.
But Nia would better put an automatic filter. The message is always the same.
Not sure this would help. You could spam with a L1 account and distribute from a L8 account.
Niantic could nullify illegal items. Thereby destroying the assets of the crooks and ruining their business model. And at the same time discouraging regular agents tempted to buy stuff like that.
Great idea for @NianticBrian and @NianticCasey to consider and implement. And even after eliminating the items from inventories warn the buyers that they are violating tos and actions will be taken. Publishing numbers of detected byers might be good.No GDPR data of course and no igns. Just numbers..
For example niantic detected
X sources of illegally sold in game items
Y items deleted automatically
Z accounts that bought items and warned already.
Now the Message is different:
Yep, these aren't stopping.
I still think putting a level requirement on comms would help a lot since all of these spam accounts are level 1 and clearly generated by bots.
@NianticCasey @NianticBrian
I just noticed in comm a new format of the same selling technics.
A message promoting a specific telegram channel for everyone willing to violate tos and buy items. Already reported through in app reporting (Remy) .
I am not mentioning the name of the channel in here, obviously.
There is no need to mention the illegal site or tg channel. They do not need our posts advertising them 😃
Good point, thanks. I edited it out of my comment. I recommend others do the same above.
I got the same spam a few days ago too all the usernames seem to start with dead so far
We're aware, and it's been a game of ****-a-mole. We're working on this; thanks for reporting it.
You are welcome @NianticBrian . Thanks for actions taken and actions that will be taken against sellers and maybe against byers of those items.
I'm glad it's being worked on, but I'm desperately curious to find out what the **** in @NianticBrian's ****-a-mole stands for!
It's probably just a "scunthorpe" problem, but I'm also concerned for the well-being of these moles.
I thought they already did nullify illegal items. Has that changed?
It sure would be nice to have some more restrictions on who can post in COMM, but then I'd worry about brand-new players who can't ask on COMM how to walk...
Whac-A-Mole
arcade game
Already done last year but time for a new one and this time with more intense "promotion" through all social media of niantic that are available !! @NianticCasey @NianticBrian
Greek Mythology may have something to teach us here. Have you heard about
The Hydra of lerna ?
Today i noticed a new format (wording) of comm messages of the same item sellers. They are propably trying to by pass filters on comm
Its been postulated that something that was done as part of the backend changes earlier this month undid a change to stop this stuff from some time back.
Also the tags seem to be from very old scrapes. I got tagged with one over the weekend and I haven't done any action that would show up on intel for 2 months (only hacks, recharges and drone flying).
For the past few days the same/similar bots have been spamming again, but instead of advertising for illegal RMT sites, they're inserting various messages such as "Hello, how are you?" and "Current weather in Moscow", My guess is they are trying to phish for active accounts by looking for replies. But who knows?
Now they're making a laught at Niantic face.
Indeed, are you not interested in the weather in Moscow now?
