Faction-private categories
Given Niantic can accurately determine the faction of a logged-in account, it may be useful to have forum sections private to users of a single faction.
Obviously this is (relatively) easily thwarted by bad actors registering a second account in the opposite faction, but the same applies to COMM.

It's been noted elsewhere that not having faction displayed on profiles is useful to avoid faction bias in open discussions -- in theory this still holds if the label itself remains hidden: open discussions are factionless, and your faction is obvious when reading faction-specific posts.
I don't see the benefit of faction specific categories because someone could just simply spin out an opposing faction account just to get their eyeballs on the situation.
it would be nice to be able to create your own communities/subcategories that you could invite people into. That would replace some of the functionality of G+ that I miss.
@Zenn I'm hoping that's what will happen as well.
The original idea would work if a poster could also set a minimum forum level for viewing and posting. It would take a lot more effort to get in wrongly at that point.
Also, I don't think anyone would be delusional enough to think that this would be absolutely secure (or even "highly secure"), but it would still be useful for discussions which only have to do with one side.
@Zenn that would be nice. sub-communities where different groups could set up their "home" They could be open ones (XF events etc) as well as closed (faction intern, by invitation only)
On the other hand - this forum is not yet a week old... let's see what is coming :)
I don't know if this is necessary. There are some faction specific communities that are already growing where there is some vetting that takes place.
