Totally lost in step 4
It turns out that I don't know the alphabet very well :) I finally found my error in breaking things up. Yeah, it makes sense now. I need to learn to walk away from the task for five minutes when I get stuck like this. Had it for hours. One stupid typo...
Hopefully, but a little issue called work is going to slow me down for now :(
When the metal numbers are correct do the first 4 say 3214?
I used the background as a hint for the order. I still haven't the foggiest how to group these.
People are saying it jumps out at you but I'm just not seeing anything.
Is it a must to use some photo-processing software for the step 4?
Off-topic but that's the name of an illicit substance, I believe. Which is probably why it was censored.
For step 4 and us stuck on web browsers and mobile devices, is there an online tool that can help us?
Yes, I've seen an online tool for this before.
I got 1456, so one of us is down a wrong rabbit hole.
Can someone, anyone, who has completed step 4 tell us if special software is needed and/or if we are still looking for a tiny.cc code?
It is unlikely that online tools are gonna work for this one due to misalignment
Not special software per se, just standard image processing software. G.I.M.P, Photoshop, etc.
You're looking for the passcode.
Well I'm doomed then, I can only do something in MS Paint :-(
Actually, I can now confirm there is at least one tool online that can do that without issues. Of course, you might not be able to find it unless you know exactly how the message is hidden, so it's not terribly helpful.
Step 2 I found a wikipedia page where you find the english names of the elements, tried the first letter of each, the first letter of alternate names, the first letter of the periodic symbol, not sure how to get to step 3.
I've done a difference image between the two images and apart from the fact that one is a few pixels to the right and they both obviously have text/graphics drawn on, there seems to be basically no difference. (If we are looking at differences of 1 or 2 between pixel values, there is a lot of noise, but I put that down to the fact that the first image is JPEG.)
Me too. That's really really frustrating to get this far and get walled off like this.
Can anyone confirm what the right sequence is?
After doing the hint in the background I also got 1456 but not sure how to split them up
No it isn't. The abbreviation for the illicit substance uses an S, not a C.
1456 is correct
Someone showed me that tool now. The code is hidden differently than I thought, which makes it much easier with that tool.
However, I'd say that approach is much less well known.
How is it split up then is it obvious?
Okay so I have the right sequence of numbers then how do I split it up to 13?
Any hints? Contrast, Saturation, ... ? I have no experience editing photos.
count the occurrences of each element and look for that number of character in the word.
So I take it that just manipulating brightness, contrast, etc. Is not going to find the code?
