[BUG] Not able to even play after 2.39.3 update

Hello,


After recent update, I'm not able to play anymore. Immediately after logging in and launching the game (I can get to scanner, click that I'll be watching out) and ussually immediately after this, or few minutes later (while I'm able to do anything in ingress), I'm randomly getting popup window which can't be closed and it's needed to restart whole app.


"Ingress is not supported in this configuration of device"


Only solution is to close the game, login again and get error again immediately.

Until now I had no problem with running ingress at all, I'm using Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 device, which greatly fulfills every recommendation and using MIUI 11 - Android 9, with latest updates.

This bug disallows me to play completely, doesn't let me to do almost anything.

  • Had the same error. Clear cache and game data, it will be all good :)

  • Cleared cache, cleared data, reinstalled app many times. Did not helped 🤔

  • Is there any possibility that app finds something on your device storage that triggers the no go situation? Folders of certain apps even if not currently in use? Twrp for example or even the setup files of such apps even if not used by you?

    I'm having the same problem.

    Pocophone F1, Android 10-MIUI 11, not root.

    Edit: I do have TWRP and some folders with that name. Is this another pointless anti-cheat measure?

    Just checked and I get the same error in HP:Wizards Unite, but not in Pokémon GO.

  • If you have a not rooted phone would a deletion of those folder remainings be a solution? Can you try? Twrp is an application very usefull for some android users but propably triggers an internal check and no go? Your Log files , niantic side server side, will definately reveal the reason.And be device specific troubleshooting and resolution.In my opinion.I am just an agent as you are.

    TOS is quite clear on third party applications , rooted devices, and app permissions allow storage access. I would say that something is giving a false positive.

    I do not know how anti cheating measures from niantic works but for sure some must be present.May they need fine tuning.

    remove the FWRP folder if u got it it seems that helps for now to be able login.

    Same problem in both Pocophone F1 and Mi 9, both with miui 11 and android 10. Reinstall does not solve it, just installing Lineageos with android 9 on the Pocopphone I can play., obviously TWRP is present and works perfectly so that is not the problem

    PS, Activate the turbo game for Ingress, delays the error but in the end it is the same.

  • Heh, even more funny is NIAs response to the bug report..

    So guys, problem is in our devices, not like last update broke the game or something...

    Moto G1, g5 and LG Kpower working fine here. By fine I mean painfully slow like always.

  • I get also this error since the update of today received by my phone. all was working well before. (MI4C phone with android 10.1). how can i open a case to niantic for this ?

  • Hey there.If you read the whole thread you might spot some resolutions , or basically things that trigger the error.For example folders in your storage created by applications that seems to alert Niantic.For example TWRP folder. Please read the posts before. In any case you can always use " report problem " through settings menu and help.

    Worked fine some hours ago.

    That's what I get now - unable to login. I don't even have a second Google account for work/...

  • Ι really am glad that i was able to help. Obviously Niantic had reasons to enforce this kind of checks. I am not judging why because i do no not have all the inside info needed. I am just an agent like you.

    Removing the TWRP folder is not working for me. I've done everything else short of resetting to stock (which seriously cripples my phone ability years back) and it still fails. Not root, no TWRP folders. If this is how they want to treat regular users (I don't cheat), then it's time to take a long break. I'm one of the few players still actually playing in my area, so it will become more of a ghost town. I don't feel like wasting more time troubleshooting something that I shouldn't have to do. It's just not worth playing much if it's a serious uphill battle.

    Don't run off the legit players you have left - it's like you're not even listening to your playerbase anymore. Even PoGo still works without issue, sheesh!
