Are items supposed to be this bad (epilept effect)?
My phone (above picture) is high end and everything works fine and fast, but the items keep doing this back and forth movement like they are 2 objects that didn't glued together very well...
Funny thing is that my gf's phone is 3 years older and don't do this, also my old motoG1 also don't do it. In these two device the items are good looking, one perfect piece (but the rest of the game are terrible slow and unplayable).

I would guess that the animation there is a bit of artistic flair that’s enabled only on higher-end phones. It’s the perfect example of something that should stop if I’ve toggled on Android’s “Remove animations” setting.
This is an intentional animation to show the ephemeral nature of XM constructs.
Older phone's don't have the complete animation suite for performance.
Her and my old phone.
Yeah that's the lower scale animation. She's actually the one missing out, not you seeing something you should.
I would LOVE to have the 'lower res' version at all times. This is one of the things that causes headaches for me. I'm not entirely sure if it has also contributed to more frequent migraines this fall, as there are so many things that can go into that, but I am completely certain that the fancy, shaky, phasey animations give me eyestrain and headaches if I spend more than a few seconds going through inventory. Not ideal when rearranging things, and sorting capsules. I have dynamic lighting off, but I do not see a way to get rid of the theoretically 'high' quality graphics on my phone. I'm running an iPhone X right now.
I want stationary inventory, please. The shaky jumps are unnecessary and start motion sickness.
I don't know if it can be directly enabled, or whether it's part of Unity's natural performance management.
It’s not infrequently the case — maybe it’s even often the case — that a change made in the name of “accessibility” benefits everyone.
This would be very unfortunate. It seems like Unity itself should be a little more flexible in the name of accessibility. If that really is the case, I would request the graphics get 'downgraded' in order to improve usability.
But it looks better without the shake...
There should be a toggleable option to choose hi and low graphics and animations.
Unity can't even incorporate natural text boxes. Flexibility and polish is not a high expectation.
This is an intentional animation to add unnecessary eyestrain for people playing on high end devices.
Prime is getting better but it still physically hurts my eyes. (And yes I mean that literally -- a few hours of intense Ingress and my right eye is weepy and oozy and crusted over. This didn't happen on Redacted, and completely overshadows all benefits of the nice things that have been done with the UI)
And that's playing at night when the screen is more visible. Playing during daylight is much worse, no matter what combination of app and device settings I choose.
To be blunt, the art direction of Ingress is so user-unfriendly that it makes it impossible for many players to appreciate all the UI improvements.
The "high end" animation is twitchy and looks terrible, IMO. Besides causing serious vision issues (or worse) for some people, it just plain looks worse than the "low end" one. If you really want a pulsing effect on the inventory items, slow down the rotation and throbbing, and up the quality on the graphics. I don't know if the resolution is low or it's not anti-aliased properly, but it looks jagged. It would probably look less twitchy if the edges were smoother and it was slower.
This would help the people with neuro issues while also improving the quality of the product for everyone else.
This is so much easier to look at than shaky resos and xmps
The fact that SO much time has passed with users complaining about this issue from day 1 of Prime is concerning and seems to match the idea that Niantic is out of touch with actually making this an enjoyable experience. So many players have been lost as a result of feeling hopeless with this particular aspect of Prime and this is not an impossible fix.
Same on computer we need new graphic card and more to run games on best graphic mode. If we like run Prime on best graphic mode we need new high end phone. If we like start and play Ingress Prime fast and good we need new high end phone.
The point many players are making is that the fancy high end graphics are undesirable, as they add many distracting and jarring elements to the screen, and that the lower resolution modes on lower end devices are easier to play.
More easy to play Ingress Prime with high end phone when Prime start and works fast. If we get better graphic dont make it more hard to play Ingress Prime on high end phone. Lots of agent i talk with say Prime works best on high end phone.
Not the discussion here.
Since the app was migrated to the Unity platform, the item animations have been sub par.
The steep learning curve required by Unity could have an impact on its performance, such as setting the appropriate animation compression settings to render the loops.
🤔
When has that ever mattered to Jonas?
Prime was originally designed by a team that was further out of touch with the way the game was actually played, than currently. We're seeing a lot of good adjustments and 'reversions' to Classic Ingress logic, like the Categories changes. So I have confidence that this sort of thing will get improved, but we just have to wait on the limited resources of the team under @NianticBrian to address this.
I think my limited play amounts to having to think about the app and the constant strain to see things and the touchy rotate and frustration doing missions in portal dense areas where in version 1pressing the brown mission portal or waypoint thing got you the portal or waypoint. Not so in Prime. I started a 36 series in November and at mission 32 to date. I just get to tired playing for any amount of time. I want to think about playing the game not think about the app. I could be playing the wrong way. I see many players happy with the game. But I also know it doesn’t gage to be that way. I don’t get that strain and fatigue with Harry Potter Go. (Just the pointlessness of that game. My thoughts about that game are “here is your assignment. Walk around and pick up trash. If someone gets in the way, fight ‘em”). But it seems so focused on the fantasy rather that exploring the actual world, it really isn’t for me. I keep playing because I like to send and receive gifts from agents far away. That is an attractive feature unknown in Ingress. Wouldn’t be great to exchange gear with far away agents somehow?

It would, but that's far from the topic here.
