Why are banned players permitted to continue posting in this forum?
Hi Niantic
This makes no sense to me - it's essentially a half-ban, especially if that agent continues to be disruptive and cause drama.
Are they banned from just the game? If I got banned tomorrow, I would be allowed to post here as much as I want?
It can't be for ban appeals - that's what the support site is for. They're not permitted to chat in comms, but they can mention people in threads in the forum as much as they want. In what way is someone with a permanently terminated account part of the community?
This seems incongruous, and like a gap in your policy.
Please review it - otherwise, it sends the wrong message, and means that account bans are not as effective as they ought to be.

100% agree this should be carried out on the community forums as well.
If you are banned in game, don't you want to be able to come to the forums if you feel your ban is was potentially not correct?
No, that is not what the forums are for.
As per the niantic guidelines, posting in the forums will not lead to a response, nor is it required or even recommended.
I also wouldn't be concerned if there was a specific section, limited to people who are banned, which was the only section they could post in. But they've been banned, they can keep chatting outside of niantic sanctioned platforms, but they shouldn't be able to continue socialising here.
@EvilSuperHeros, if someone had been taunting you and cheating in game, and they were banned permanently for it, would you expect them to be able continue participating on these forums? Ingress is not a democracy, these forums are not a space open to contributions from the general public. Niantic have made the decision that you must have an ingress account, but apparently not that you must have an a valid ingress account.
They were taunting you in game? I hope you reported that to Niantic - I hope they didn't do anything like post your email in comms, release personal information, spam your phone or data scrape...that stuff is above and beyond 'taunting.'
There is an ignore feature on the forums. Click on their IGN somewhere, then click on the blue dropdown and click Ignore. Done, problem solved. Go on with your life.
Yeah, that doesn't work. Or there's some other setting that takes precedence. If you'd checked my posting history, you'd have seen that I've raised this already.
That sucks :( I know of this unstable woman who spammed players phone with terrible messages, emailed them on a regular basis with threats, nearly hit a player in their car (dashcam) and now plays multiple accounts both green and blue, ironic after they stated they don't cheat and their main account was banned. It's pretty sad to see them destroy Ingress even more for so many legitimate local players :(
