Redeeming a passcode for items should count towards daily hack for Sojourner.

It would help out players who may be later up in a hospital or stuck at home tending to sick children, or even players at sea on a cruise. Players would be less likely to pressure other players to take their scanners and hack for them, or feel the need to go out in dangerous conditions after a hurricane to get their daily hack in.

Maybe each person should have one 'wild card' and can use it only once per whole game or per year? This would reduce abusing passcodes that would replace daily hack.

I'm not sure I agree with this 100%.

There is already measures in place to where if you forget a day, as long as you hack as soon as you remember, it'll tick your sojourner up 2 days instead of one for missing the previous day. (I've done it a few times myself), also.. if redeeming codes counted towards sojourner, you'd get to Onyx insanely fast just by using all the random codes floating around out there on the internet.

  • grendelwulfgrendelwulf ✭✭✭✭✭

Insanely fast? It would still take 360 individual passcodes in 360 days to reach onyx.

But redeeming a code is not hacking...

I've also never heard anyone that shared their account, let alone for the sole purpose of hacking because the person is unable to.

The whole value of the badge is actually hacking and not forgetting. So why should we make it easier to maintain the streak? Wouldn't that take away some of the value this badge actually has?

any kind of cheat, hack or alternate option will cheapen and diminish the worth of the people who have already gotten top level sojo badge.

they did it without whatever thing it is you are wanting, and if you get it the value of what they have done becomes less.

do you really want to bring down the accomplishments of others just so you can get yours?

If it had to exist, this is the best way. Once a year a free day. Maybe after Platinum younger one of these. Or a paid item that generate a temporary portal with limited hacks.

  • grendelwulfgrendelwulf ✭✭✭✭✭

Hacking every day shows you have a serious commitment to the game. Some agents have this serious commitment but find themselves in situations where they are nowhere near or completely unable to hack a portal. I lost my first streak after a **** in the family so I wasn't concerned with going out and hacking a portal. Other times I lost streak were during a hurricane. The streak isn't worth keeping up when safety is more important, but that doesn't make me less committed to the game than someone unaffected by the storm.

I probably redeemed at least 150 codes when I started playing. I went through all the forever passcodes and used them all up.

I'm not a fan of watering down the sojourner badge.

I certainly sympathize with folks in hospital... And other situations one could imagine where you could really use a trick to help with that badge during tough times or being marooned somewhere... but hacking is hacking.

I myself haven't gotten farther than Platinum. Onyx sojourner is an accomplishment and I think watering it down would only diminish it to the person who receives the badge that way. It doesn't really signify what it was meant to at that point.

Now maybe you want to have a seperate badge for passcodes redeemed? I might be on board with that despite the fact that I have a pillowcase full of hint water cap codes that still seem to be redeemable

I went to the literal Amazon, and for three days was without wifi, cellular, or even power. My Anker kept my phone alive for reading ebooks, but there were no portals in 50 miles. So yeah, I lost my sojourner count.

I agree being hospitalized is not a choice in the same way, but still, it's just a game. Being obsessive about stats may not be as healthy....

Uhhh, why 1) does it think I have a draft comment, and 2) would it post a blank comment, and 3) why can't I delete a blank comment?

    /me confused.

Agree with most comments above, not a fan of this idea, would just remove the challenge.
