They should fix it so phones dont make such a big difference. The graphics are so altered that it doesnt look like the same game.
And it's not just MY phone, its every phone that prime doesnt recognize as the latest and greatest. I've tried seven different phones. Anything I can get for under $200 makes it look like that.
Ever wondered why there were so many people saying Redacted was better for so long? Ever wondered why the game and even this forum are starting to look like a ghost town? Because probably over 2/3 of all phones can't show the pretty graphics. People got sick of it and left. Only answer on the forums is "get a new phone." Done that. Several times. I've spent a lot of money on prime looking for that mystical new phone. Maybe they just dont sell it in my area.
We desperately need a better low-resolution version of prime, and a better interface that realizes some of these phones can run the high-resolution version now that bugs have mostly been fixed.
An idea I brought up in a previous thread on this very subject:
Roll-Your-Own Beacon Bundles
Simply put: Niantic gives you the option to create your own custom batch of beacons from the ones they've had available in the game - the readily available ones (RES, ENL, Niantic, Meetup, Target, etc.), the event ones (EXO5, Obsidian, etc.), even the April Fool's "Toast" beacon.
You pick which beacons you want in the pack, how many of each beacon you want, and you pay a CMU cost based on the total number of beacons in the pack.
I just mean, I don't see why they couldn't just turn on all beacons and make them purchasable. What's wrong with having a 13Magnus beacon on your local farm portal 😁
I would love to have the possibility to buy multiple packs again. Being a person that runs many give away events, i have found people are far more interested and engaged when the item they are winning can be easily delivered to them through the scanner. If it isnt possible to get the actual digital packs back, please give us an option to be able to buy and gift packs from our scanners to others. I would pay for this, i would pay for the chance to be able to give away character codes and gear packs again.
I really like this idea. Or maybe a sort of "subspace capsule". You can put up to 100 items in it and upload it to the "cloud". This could take two hours. And to get your items back from the "cloud", it would also take two hours.
From @Perringaiden : Buy empty power cubes that can be 'charged' by walking with Adventure Sync. (like incubators)
I put this in as a feature request way back, multiple times, even as far back as when power cubes were first introduced.
But also, being able to buy C6s, really handy when cube drop rates are now too low compared to the number of portals that need to be recharged, despite glyphing as often as possible
Apparently power cubes are the most "unnecessarily" recycled item in the game (as in, at full energy). So I can see them reducing the PC drop rate generally, but providing a payable option for those who want or 'need' more of them. It would help balance the drop rates down to something reasonable for those who don't recharge half the state, and get the rechargers to go outside more for cube power up.
Let's say you want to increase the defense or the hacking speed/times, but it is already full. Or you made a mistake and its a really important portal.
Mod Extractor: remove one mod from a portal.
Mod Upgrader: increase the rarity (by 1) of previously installed mod.
This can be done by adas and jarvis, but take so much time if you don't want to lost the resonators and other mods.
I'm a member of a website where I have a piece of bling on my profile that marks me as a site supporter, and a tiny extra bit of chrome on the bling for each year I've paid to be a supporter. This gets me **zero** benefit as a user, yet I pay the money every year. (There is a higher level that suppresses ads, i buy that most years, but that part isn't relevant to Ingress.)
I have all my character medal badge codes gathering dust in a card box, but I'd pay money for a simple tiered badge that marks how many years I've given Niantic money for zero tangible benefit.
I used to play a phone game with paid boosts available. I never used them, as it felt like cheating. I play a similar game where players earn tiny bits of currency every day, and can buy things for free if they are patient; I pay for a subscription that gets me more currency, which doesn't feel like cheating because everything I buy is available to f2p players if they are patient enough.
So maybe the best way for Niantic to normalize p2w in Ingress is to regularly give all players tiny bits of CM for free.
Beacons are a fun way to temporarily decorate the map, with very little strategic value.
Some suggestions:
Every glyph. Hike a trail and tell a story.
Most Emoji. (Sorry, I'd suggest eggplant and peach be left out.)
Every game medal, available for purchase to players who have earned Onyx.
An official First Saturday beacon, given to POCs. Put one on the registration portal and one on the restock portal. ("This is what you hack to register when the ornament shows up.")
How about: an item that you apply to a target portal and it allows you to replace one Mod with any Mod of your own (the item and the Mod are consumed at the same time; if you don't apply a Mod you can cancel it or it will time out). Same AP rules as for resonators: 65 points if you replace someone else's Mod, no AP if you replace your own. (Yes I guess this would leave it open to AP trading with another player of the same faction; but since every Mod replacement costs you a rare CMU item I don't think most people would find it profitable to do this for 65 AP.)
There would be an interesting use case for this for anchors that have a lot of links. Build the Portal, add SBUL, do the links, upgrade the SBUL to a shield.

@Gersterwind What is going on with that resolution? That looks awful.
Regardless, we're probably drifting into "Let me pay for a bug fix or UI change" territory which isn't something for the store.
Thats your phone.
Look mine:
But yes, they should fix it to change some things when low res is active.
They should fix it so phones dont make such a big difference. The graphics are so altered that it doesnt look like the same game.

This is my vertical view.
And my usual angled view. I can't find any lower because I generally don't do that.
Wow, my "moderated comment" only took 12 hours to appear 😂

Why not just make all the beacons individually purchasable?
Well, theoretically you could do that with the RYOBB ("I want X beacon, and I only want one of it"), instead of having to buy a three-pack.
I just mean, I don't see why they couldn't just turn on all beacons and make them purchasable. What's wrong with having a 13Magnus beacon on your local farm portal 😁
Or a "Toast" beacon on an opposing player's anchor before you knock it over? 😉
I would buy R8s. Plenty of times I’ve been out and the player base around me is minimal

Verter Idea: create your own unique beacon.
Basically, just show up in the beacon the user avatar (at the moment he used it).

I wish there was a candle beacon.
Only avatars. Wait for balance and low price Pokémon GO have and we use Adventure sync for free CMU when Pokémon GO players earn free money on gyms.
How about fracker style items that turn a portal into a VR modded L8 portal for 10 minutes.
That would be just a smidge overpowered. One item that upgrades a portal without the opposition being able to stop it? Definition of Pay to Win.

What about a MOD upgrader or Mod remover?
Let's say you want to increase the defense or the hacking speed/times, but it is already full. Or you made a mistake and its a really important portal.

Same team only, I assume? I'd hate a guaranteed mod removal tool that the enemy could use on my portals.
Yes, of course! Rival faction can remove the mods with xmps and us.
I assume something between 500 and 1000 cmu is a good price for a item like that.

(p2w == Pay To Win ; f2p == Free To Play)
This would have to offset the AP gain.
In the early days of Ingress we could remove and add new mods at will. That is until the zipcar-apocalypse happened

I wont since would be a paid item.
