Cheating
We have a mother and daughter one Resistance and one Enlightened. They work together to prevent fields being rethrown and stop Enl Agents in the area from linking and fielding very intentionally and planned. Surely this is blatantly not in the spirit of the game as per stated in an AMA response quoted below.
Is there another way to report this because nothing is ever done about it via the app? Their actions are affecting multiple players within the community.
“My advice, outside of official events, do not privately collude with one or more people from the other faction to benefit from each others actions as that is against the spirit of the game and will likely open you up to being reported for cheating. If it is done publicly and without intent to negatively impact the community, such as announcing a cross-faction get together at a bar, that’s not in my opinion cheating because everyone has access to the information about the actions in advance. However, just publicly announcing your actions doesn’t absolve you of cheating. There has to be no negative impact to the community. Announcing you and your xfac friend are going to take down a zero-cell sat phone required Portal that is being currently used as an anchor over a region is likely to get you reported for cheating.”

Sounds like you’ve got a rouge agent. That AMA response was regarding win-trading. I don’t know if that really applies here. I’m pretty sure we could argue both sides of that, but I don’t think the game company is going to earmark that as cheating. It’s playing dirty, for sure, but reporting it will get you nowhere, I suspect. Maybe reach out to someone in the opposite faction, and see if their community is aware of how this other player is playing.

Red faction confirmed!

Using opposite-team accounts to block and achieve goals for your faction is the worst form of win trading. If your goal is to help blue you should have a blue account, and vice versa.

of course they are aware. But what recourse do they have?
reporting it will get you nowhere
Appropriate actions will be taken!
The agents are well known in the community and have caused problems since they began playing. They both started as Enl but one changed faction basically so they could wintrade and level up faster.
The wintrading is pathetic but it doesn’t interfere with other players so it’s ignored. However when they collude to prevent Enl players from fielding and linking that is something else. Neither are liked in the community and the Enl mother has been removed from all Telegram groups because of their attitude. The Res players prefer to ignore what’s going on because it helps their cell score, it has been brought up in XFac.
The daughter has knocked mods off portals to allow the mother to put her own hack mods on. Genuine players don’t have that luxury without using virus.
Nobody takes issue when it’s legit play and just Res taking portals and fields and doing blockers but it’s hardly in the spirit of the game when the second a field or link is taken by a Res player that you then get her Enl mother blocking and shitlinking to prevent those being redone without use of a considerable number of ADA being used.
Reporting it has resulted in nothing. The bog standard reply. It’s been reported multiple times.
Help tem get lv12. I bet this is The objective.
No it’s not. The mother and daughter have both recursed. The mother chose to remain Enl when she did in the last few weeks. This has been going on for a year or more. The sole motivation is spite.
Pretty used to see RES using ENL puppets for their cell scores.
Niantic is the only one to blame: no punishment = legit gameplay.
So much for a cell score... xD
It ceases to amaze me how some players actually enjoy cheating. The thought process behind it is very confusing to me. Did someone teach them how to do this? What made them think that these actions would benefit them in the game to level up? It obviously does if they’ve both recursed in one year. To top it off, they’ve built walls around themselves in the ingress community. I just don’t get it. Negativity on a daily basis isn’t healthy. Games are supposed to do the opposite. They’re made to enjoy, bring us together through healthy competition. It’s just a lack of character. Character is built, learned. It’s not about winning. We can’t really win in this game. It wasn’t designed that way. That’s why there’s checkpoints. It all resets to zero so that we can start/win again. Character my fellow ingressers, character is what we need to build.
At least post Pokemon go, they came seeking for easy access to pokestop submission and many stop after reaching it, others develop spite towards the honest player and "play" just to "win" at their own definition of the words.
We have the same issue here. Husband and wife and also two friends. Annoying however not much can be done about it. Like I said in another post, just ignore them because that's all Niantic do.
let me get this straight. I know that Pokémon go is made by Niantic. What you’re saying is that some people play ingress because it helps them in Pokémon go? I’ve seen where ingress portals and Pokémon go players have been in the same areas at certain times but I didn’t know that ingress was actually a part of their game. If that’s true, that tie needs to be severed. No wonder!!
Yes it is, my dear. Before Wayfarer, Ingress was the only way to get new POIs in the map, and a bit earlier it wasn't even possible to do such thing.
Pokemon GO was created using Ingress POIs map, everyone knows that, but soon after also realized that it wasn't just a copy of a map, it was synchronized with Ingress map. This is when the party started since several players started to use Ingress as a weapon in order to get certain POIs deleted, just because they could.
When OPR came out, this was a known fact already and it was expected that new portals would also be new Pokestops and Gyms, but the "cell map" was to be taken into account, which started another party, as portal begun to be missplaced jsut to get extra pokestops. At that time, some Pokemon players already had Ingress accounts but they couldn't get to request portals because of level restrictions.
In time, Niantic lowered those restricciones, so new agents could have a closer change to request portals themselves, knowing that it was very likely that the real interest was the pokestop and not the portal. And this turned out to be an incredible black market window as thousands of L12 accounts were being sold to Trainers, and even if the account was deleted it did not matter since the portal and therefore the pokestop remained in the system.
Some time passed by an Ingress agents started refusing using OPR since it was notoriously obvious that if you did not join "the mobs", you would be just wasting time fighting a lost battle, which led to the birth of Wayfarer, the point in time when Niantic made clear several things. In the mean time, Redacted died, and that was taken as an exit door by too many agents, tired to see how day by day the game they loved and put their resources in was being used as fuel for a different game.
That is when Niantic started to "pay attention" to what was going on in Ingress communities, but it was so late then... a community is something that requires an insane effort not just to keep it alive but to keep it clean aswell, and requires sacrifice from each one of the members and unlimited motivation, and even if Niantic managed to get back to 2017 and make the game great again, most of agents that left will just not come back because Ingress will always be used as a work field.
And that exact reason is the one why this issue will never go away, and tomorrow, when a new game comes out, Pokemon GO will be a work field too. And perhaps Ingress will become the new FieldTrip.

PD: just spent 20 min trying to post this just because I used the word "w-e-a-p-o-n", at least they could pop up which words are forbidden in draft mode!
I honestly believe that pokemon go should have its own rules and database about waypoint creation, separated from any other games. It's literally the biggest community in the world and it will dictate their own "rules".
Pokemon go should have the waypoint like Jurassic world and Minecraft earth did: random. The points of interaction are generated everywhere and they change in a few days. It could mix both concepts perfectly, with fixed waypoint but fewer than now (like 3 for each s14) and the rest being randomly generated and swapping places once in a while.
What an nice way to progress in the game !
But this family will never be able to operate together.
Wow, my mind has just been blown! So many things are falling into place. Thank you @GoblinGranate for the explanation that has eluded me for the last five years I’ve been playing Ingress. Forgive me for being so nieve. I’m 49 years old and this is the first virtual reality/computer game I’ve ever played. I was brought into the game by my brother n law as pure Ingress player. The veteran Ingress players in my community never talked about Pokémon go, let alone the role it played in Ingress. These veterans don’t even play Ingress anymore and I always wondered why. They used to put a lot of work into the game. I guess they knew what I just found out. Unbelievable. I’m speechless.
