I found counting the widths much easier than 1s and 0s, and it didn't make combining the barcode difficult at all, even if split partway through one code.
" I was looking for the wrong "Strange word" all I can say to the ones who didn't get it yet it's that it's not a strange word, it's old, it commonly used in literature like Homer's Iliad and Odyssey, it was also often used by Ovid and Euripides. The name of the archetype has a lot to do with it"
Most modern English speakers, who didn't have the privilege of studying literature, would consider it a strange old word. /r/iamverysmart
Wikipedia has tables for barcode lengths to chars. Using the Find in page function on my phone, I got from numbers to letters pretty fast (was doing it while on a plane).
However, it took me forever to get from the string of letters to the passcode. Litterally had a dream where I was rearranging letters haha. Thanks to all who posted hints, subtle enough as to not spoil the fun! This was my first decode outside FS, and damn this was satisfying.
Actually - I could see the indicators for the numbers - so I could have probably gotten it in a couple guesses - only reason it would have taken 2 was that the keyword contains a digit indicator (by coincidence I presume)
Sigh... I dont know who as he created an Alt account but theres a discord server to share passcodes( like from streams or stuff) and there was an announcement specifically saying not to share these ones
So one thought it was funny to create an alt account, set his name to the passcode and spam the passcode all over the place
He also created his own server he to leak the further passcodes too... this isnt funny and idk who he is ;L
Thank you for all the hints, I managed to solve the code just before it leaked out, s at least I have the satisfaction. What helped me most was the advice to manually break down the code using the exact specification of this barcode.
BTW did you notice that the keyword is somehow related to the code's theme? I wonder if this will be the case with the rest of them.
I have read all your clues and I am very grateful for this, but even so I cannot decipher the bar code, nor in understanding which are 0 or 1, I am new ingress, level 6 please help me,
The Code 128 decoder I found required the width codes, like 211232,112214,421112... etc - doesn't really require determination of Black vs White for barcode.
I’m a first timer at this. Finally got it! Phew! I must say, that counting and decrypting for the 23 lowercase alphabets was a bit of a challenge but getting the passcode was kinda simple... ;) Great game! Can’t wait for next week!
Thanks for the advice, I got it correct after a hint. I did know it's not 23-char long passcode and converted the numbers before typing in the passcode, I just considered the keyword in a wrongly complicated way.
I finally got the medium (12/14/2019 14:09), after all this week turning the coconut, I first turned and changed the codes and passed them through different scanners, without obtaining apparent results, then try binary, The rule that I took did not help me, I tried to give the value 1 to the finest lines, up to 4 the fattest ones, with the results I introduced them in different converters, and without results, already dizzy I decided to leave it and I went in search of my moment "ZEN" to the top of a mountain wrapped in clouds, relax!
The next day I resumed it with other eyes and a clear mind, I got it once I understood how the bar codes were created, and used a template of the positions of the lines and widths of them (wikipedia source).
In the union of both codes was my mistake, I focused on "P" letter balanced on the keyword.
Once I read it well and with the clues you have published and help it from Dc. Google. I finally got it. Very good clue the ancient literature.

For anybody struggling with 1s and 0s:

Finally, I solved it😎
I did it!!

Yip that distracted me for ages too
Umm rethink this... quit scanning is the number one hint

Anything that can be done ..?
This actually helps
Think you aligned something wrong
Now he thinks its funny to steal my name
The video is really good quality
Thanks for the hints/tips everyone!

Finalmente risolto. Grazie mille a tutti gli aiuti che avete dato
I got it, thanks for all the hints.
First I tried to read the barcode manually but that didn't work, MS paint saved the day on that part.
I have solved it already a few days ago, I've written a guide on how I got to the code as well.
The code is indeed able to be read by some websites, as long as it's correctly arranged.
I'll probably post the whole guide in the end...
Someone double check me. The next puzzle drops 12/16/2019 22:00. Thats Monday 10pm UTC. Or 5pm Eastern, correct?
Yes, your time zone math is correct.

I would love to read your journey when you post it up.

Thank you all, and I can have a quiet beer.
