Now would be a great time to build some Goodwill and add visual cues for new unhacked portals...
With all the new portals coming online from Wayfarer it would really mean a lot to the Ingress community if we finally got a visual cue that we have never visited and hacked a portal before just like Pokemon go has for stops.

You'd think that.
I actuall do have ONE visual cue already:
The portals I haven't ever hacked before dont have "nearby portal" notifications.
I'm pretty sure it's a bug though, and to be honest, I'd be a lot happier if I got "nearby portal" notifications only for portals I haven't hacked before.
No, this is ingress, maybe you are confusing this one app with other niantic inc. game.
I like the way it is, i like the challenge, i like remembering that in this spot wasnt a portal, that one must be new!
Hack and capture and yes, it was new because Explorer and Pionner badges count +1. 😊
Welcome
This feature will be nice and has been asked for many years, but... So those who really care about explorer badge already have necessary software to track visited portals.
Although I can believe that there may be valid technical objections against implementing this. For example, if we have two database tables, "portals" and "users". most of gameplay and especially Intel operations could be done using only "portals" table. To check visited state, which is most probably saved in per-user record, an extra query to another table ("users") must be executed for each portal in Intel view, which may increase server load.
And I will never believe that such a big new feature could be implemented in current state of the game, where scanner is unusable for anything more then 15 minutes of causal gameplay and the only thing which gets most attention from developers is it's "store" part,
