Gameplay difference between graphics modes should be eliminated
As it currently stands, there are 2 graphics modes: one for middle and high-end devices, and one for low-end. There are currently 2 things affecting gameplay which are missing in low graphics mode.
1. Portal center mark
That's how it looks like on Samsung Galaxy J7 2017
In contrast, that's how its absense looks like on Samsung Galaxy J7 2016
This is important to have everywhere because
- it's hard to see how much distance you can still walk until you're on the very edge of a gray portal (the gray portal appearance itself isn't helpful in determining the center location);
- it's hard to aim Ultra Strikes without it.
Also you have some weirdness like this:
The portal is clearly visually outside of range, but the game internally thinks it's still inside. It may be more of a problem with the circle not of the right size, though. Should be fixed too.
2. Link waves
There were link waves on low graphics mode some updates ago, but now they're gone. They should be everywhere because, if there are many links on a portal, this was the only way to determine which links are incoming and which are not. Then you can count them and plan future strategy for a multilayer field based on the count: how many links will you be able to throw without the need of SBUL?
If the trade off in form of performance reduction is to be dealt with, then I propose ditching the 3D structures forming fields and links:
They don't impact gameplay, are viewable only from an angle of view on which, I suppose, very few people play, and are no more than ****.
All screenshots except the first one are made on Samsung Galaxy J7 2016; Android 8.1; Ingress Prime v2.33.1

Comments
I wish there is a switch and we can select wich Mode to play. Maybe low Mode is faster AND I WANT TO PLAY FASTER, as Used to play with Redacted.
I dont care about fancy graphics.
This portal right in front of me, and the fields and links on it, don't have any sign of being discharged. But in reality one L8 burster is able to make it grey. Why I don't see any effects neither on links nor fields that they are anchored on a discharged portal? This easy visual clue was there many months ago but now it's gone - I suppose just for my graphics mode and probably it's there on more performant devices. This feature affects gameplay and decisions I may take based on looking on a map at glance. Bring it back.
