Firstly you haven't done a valid removal request, this section is for appeals of rejected reports, you need to report each of these through the scanner first.

Secondly, the area is also SSI and open to the public, so there is no issue of safe access either

    • A young person playing Pokemon go isn't going to understand there the red warning flags after all niantic doesn't trust people to stay on pavement to access portals.
    • cycle last 175 hours and with average Ministry of Defence restrictions the accessibility is down by 128 hours

First you are doing young players of games a disservice by insinuating they cant read or follow instructions to understand when they can or cant access an area.

Secondly, not all POIs need to be accessible all of the time, take all the ones on Foulness Island for instance.

Thirdly, and as i have previously stated, you have not made any valid portal take down requests here.

    Simple facts are

The POIs meet criteria, you have not followed the correct procedure to request their removal, or provided any valid reasons for their removal.

  • I Based my comment on the fact in 2017 Niantic road removed portal such as

William Pitt the younger statue for example

so if Niantic thinks players won't use common sense to stay off road then the same logic must apply to firing ranges

Seems a bit of a stretch @nightwing90 to suggest they should be removed, when the landowner has actively said it's accessible to the public, because some unknown kid in another game might one day access it at the wrong time.....

  • Appeal Accepted - Thanks for the appeal, Agent. We gave this a second look and decided to retire the Portal in question.

  • TheismanTheisman ✭✭✭✭

Seriously, on what grounds ? @NianticCasey is there any chance you can look into the consistency with appeals at the moment, there may be outside factors which we arent seeing but it is looking like a case of depending on which way the wind blows depends on how your appeal goes

@NianticMP Did you only read the initial post and ignore all the opposing supporting evidence.

This sets an incredibly harsh policy. Basically your saying that because at one day in the future (now till the year 10000) there will be some form of danger to an agent that is not abiding by safe observance (crossing the road without looking for example), then all portals world wide should be removed.

Let's drill down a little further. Let's make it a USA example that has occured recently so easy to define.

US Government fails to pass budget, government in shutdown. National parks are shut to the public.

Therefore you should have removed all portals in national parks in the USA by now.

    UK wider example

Balmoral Castle, is heavily restricted during the residence of the queen (failure to comply with instruction will get you ****, as per above portals in question). Therefore all portals should be removed in the grounds of Balmoral Castle.

This game was not designed to get people to walk around the block in cities repetitively. It's to explore.

  • Excellent post.... Maybe Niantic should look further into this and reasons for this claims from Res. This portal in the past has been used by res to field however enl use it to field and the only way for this to be resolved is to make up some lame excuse that somebody could be ****, and get the portal removed. I'm assuming it's too much effort to drive from Edinburgh to Carnoustie to take these down rather than getting somebody locally to do it.
