Suggestion for new minigame.
in General
What if instead of simply recycling unwanted keys you could spend them in an in-app slot machine style game to gamble for resonators and xmp, with a chance to win even VR mods as well?
It would give players something else to do at home besides for recharging and **** wayfarer.

I guess this would be okay, sure. Though I for one utilize the no-key command to get an extra shot at another item in the field as is, so I very rarely ever have uneeded keys as I only key hack when I want the keys.
This could possibly be abused or taken advantage of though based on your school of thought. One could in theory farm a bunch of keys and place them in a key locker. After 500 keys farmed, they could then unload them all after using up a portion of their 2k inventory on a remote op and then cash them all in for items to replenish their inventory, just with RNG at play.
Think of a lootbox/treasure chest with nine keyholes. You can place between 1 and 9 keys in the keyholes before opening it and getting a glyph sequence based on how many you placed. Your reward would be based on how quickly you could complete the glyph sequence 100%
Maybe give it a cooldown dependent on the number of keys used as well. More keys, longer cooldown.
So basically, if I put all my junk keys in Quantums, I get free loot?
Yet another step away from the communal walking farm which made Ingress the game it once was.
Eh....sounds umm, stupid?
I use my keys for making those triangle shaped thingies....lots of them, over 54,000 of them made as of current. Little, triangles, big triangles, all works for me. Sometimes I even just throw out noodles for the fun of it! Over 99k noodles thrown....gosh soo close to something there....Other keys I use to recharge portals, and extras are recycled so I can recharge MOAR portals! I'm kinda working on a billion XM recharged....inching ever closer, day by day...
Want to play? Well, it's time to move agent!
So how many of your excess keys would you be willing to gamble away? How much of your space would you be willing to devote to excess keys purely for gambling? There's the balance. Not having a lot of keys you're willing to part with but just enough to make it interesting.
Yeah, that's not an interesting minigame, that's just more random inventory management.
Again, it takes Ingress further away from it's roots, and more into a single player "don't need a team" game.
FYI on average I would probably delete 100-200 keys most days I go out and play...
xD
Haters gonna hate. That would be just hilarious, not like I'm up to this, but sure I would roll some dices if this exists xD
I think any item duplicated in a quantum should be labeled/ornemented as a recursed item and subject to restrictions.
Nah, just get rid of Quantums for anything but keys.
An in-app slot machine style minigame contradicts the idea of Ingress I am afraid.
People complain that there is nothing to do in the game at home besides recharging. I was just trying to come up with an idea that wasnt Pogo or hpwu that could add more content for agents when not in the field. I thought maybe spending excess or unwanted keys to gamble on glyph-locked loot boxes might be a fun alternative. Granted, passcodes are a crapshoot now too. Those are like lootboxes for the fastest players.
This game is not meant to be played at home, it was originally devised as an exergame as far as I know.
