Ingress IOT Devices

in General
I recently watched a video with John Hanke at a conference talking about the projects that Niantic had been working on and he briefly brought up that there were IOT devices created by Niantic to show in game activities on. I was able to find some code on GitHub that showed a little how this is coded but nothing on what was actually created.
Does anyone know what those devices were or what physical devices have been created in the past that link up to the live Ingress data other than the scanner?
I would like to see pictures of them and hear what they did.

I am curious as well, this sounds interesting.
There was an ancillary device that Hank used in Abaddon Prime Chicago to drop the media. Would show portals on a map as well as which media it was dropping once activated.
Back a few years ago now, there was serious talk into a bracelet that interacted with the Ingress world, unfortunately the Classic client was not ever going to be able to work with such a device.
We know Pogo have a couple of these pendants/bracelets around. So we know the technology is possible with the new game engine.
We do know that in many countries and states, it is ILLEGAL to have a mobile in operation, even in hands-free mode. This obviously makes it difficult for those players to effectively drive-gress legally.
So even if the initial feature was just to auto-hack with/without a key, as well as picking up XM, is certainly something to look forward to in 2020
I saw the Nex Evolution band that was being developed in 2017 which integrated with Ingress but it must have died soon after.
I have also seen the PokeBall Plus for Pokemon and one of the hacked devices which automates the ball functions. Not mine, I never got into that game.
What John referred to in his presentation was a couple 3D Printed devices which were present at the conference but out of sight of the camera.
The reason I am curious is because I have an idea to float to Niantic, but just wanted to see if it had already been done with this tech. So far it hasn’t in my specific view but close from what I see in these replies. :)
At the 2018 anomaly in Linz this building was a live representation of the state ( green, blue, neutral, under attack) of the portal for the building.

Don't forget the Tecthulhu modules used at Camp Navarro and Kaltenberg, which allowed player-built portals to connect with the portal network and interact with the scanner.
And there's Ito En's "XM Profilers", which show portal ownership, resonators, and mods. They can only be found in Japan, though.

There were a few of those modules present at Abbadon Chicago. I was honestly impressed that they seemed to be updating their status in real time.
Okay, I found something that explains the code and the design in a lot more detail.
I will have to see what I can do with it.

If this is what they are, then now I'm more curious about what is inside them.
well, you are probably talking about android wear watches, that worked with redacted (used that for couple of years, until redacted was shut down, sadly they removed support in prime)
Nope, not that. The watch app worked with the intel map by someone, to just show the scores. I may be wrong, it was a long time ago.
Was a separate device, from what I remember
Nope, Android wear was cool, shame they died with redacted ,,
At the 2017 Ces

Android wear support was missing from redacted afaik, one of few things that didn't get ported
I'd love to have some sort of API for getting information from the game, even if limited in scope.
Tinting your lights blue or green if there's a field overhead would be neat!
The wearable portion of the app was one of the last things that Google worked on before Niantic separated from the company. Sadly, nothing was updated on the wearable app in the years it was available. I think the redacted app still called the same functions which broke the wearable ability.
From discussion in the IUENG Telegram chat, Krug said Niantic isn't looking into wearables at this time. It makes sense from a development perspective.
Yeah he said as much in one of the early prime AMAs,
Guess nex gave up on plans when prime was announced,,
They need to get prime working 'properly' for everyone before such extrafacant features, as much as id like it :)
