IDEA - Location Edits - Add better spot

I'm not sure what people are drinking where I live, but I've been coming across a LOT of old portals that are REALLY off from where they should be. To make matters worse, some people are going through putting edits on things to pick the wrong location when they're already right.

What really drives me nuts are the edits I keep seeing where every marked spot is equally wrong. I hate that our only option is to either mark the less incorrect spot or hit the unable to determine, leaving it in limbo indefinitely.

Solution: When a location edit comes up, we should have the option to suggest a "most correct" location, if we can tell exactly where the portal should be. It could work similar to how we move nominations for new portals, adding our suggested location as another edit location to go back for others to review, counting our new spot as 1 vote already. I don't think it should cost the reviewer an edit from their available ones in the scanner, and should be limited to current location/home location +50km radius or less.

Here is an example of what I mean

I've circled the actual location for this portal. Neither the existing nor edited location are correct. My guess is that somebody is trying to manipulate s2 cells for pokéstops. It would be so nice to just mark that spot on wayfarer as the more correct spot. I live close enough to know the area, but far enough that it's not a key I'd have or portal I'm usually in range to submit my own edit.

The can't find will eventually result in the portal remaining where it was so I guess the less of two evils, But I have found that to and its annoying

Wayspots should be placed so that people can stand there, therefore it shouldn't be placed atop objects such as cannons.

As per guidelines, a few feet away from the object is fine. So either of the suggested spots seems acceptable to me, though personally I'd select the closer one.

  • That's my point. When both are wrong we should be able to mark the best spot.

I think you're being overly generous here. There's absolutely nothing stopping people from standing at the cannon in this example. It's in the middle of a playground even. "Within a few feet" doesn't mean 10+ feet away. If you're not spot on, you should be RIGHT next to it.

I 1000% agree with this. If we are allowed to suggest a new location during the initial POI candidate then went can we not suggest it for and edit? And whoever is disliking these is probably a POGO player that is trying to fudge the loc. just enough to get it in a new cell and spawn another gym for themselves.
