Does anyone remember the old [ this is a toast notification]?
in General
hi so I was doing some stuff and it reminded me of the old [ this is a toast notification ] bug. Does anyone know if it was in fact a placeholder message of some kind or was it something else?
The photo is from google images.

I think it was a placeholder for speed lock etc.
That was my thought too
I've currently got some Hank Johnson toast media in my quantum capsule.
It is a reminder of really bad coding style for any kind of application, even worse than just writing "This is an error message", to which they returned, they opted (paraphrased) for "This is a pop-up message".
Unfortunately, instead of writing error messages that are a little clearer (why isn't it just possible to write "You are in speedlock" or something), they doubled down and made the toast a meme, which was positively accepted by a large part of the community, but served as an additional insult to those players who experienced the toast message (which was and still is very often a bug, not a real speed lock) in everyday playing.
So yes, the toast message was a placeholder for what has been "Server communication error (1)" or just a blank error message to this day, and it would be high time that this error that has existed since Prime beta, finally got fixed.
I think they had to do a placeholder for speedlock because it was during the time the game was on two different servers.
You also need to note redacted never had a message to specificly state you're speedlocked - you just knew when you had an error. We know Go and Harry Potter indicate when you're going too fast but Ingress is unique as you need to know when you're still in speedlock.
I think I am guilty of leaving placeholder messages in my code... oops
This is why I brought it up. I’m working on something with someone else and I have been using the [this is a toast notification] as a placeholder.
