Signs are great, but surely the greatest thing about football fields and similar is that they are clearly visible on the satellite map (and as such hard to fake)?

Yes, but you need to take an interesting picture of the goal posts for example. Just a picture of the field usually gets denied.
make sure it's not on school property. The only football field's I've seen in my town have been on schools, not parks.
According to the new criteria they want a photo of a sign for it.
If there is a sign with the name of the field, then it should be the waypoint, but that doesn't exclude unsigned fields.

He's probably just upset holes with water in them are now explicitly allowed so he's trying to find more ways to reject things.
