Feature request - Auto Recycler
I suggest adding an auto-recycle feature to Ingress. When activated, the auto-recycler would recycle resonators, xmp bursters, and ultra strikes that are below a given level as soon as those items are hacked.
The auto-recycler will not affect items currently held. It would only affect new gear coming in from hacking.
The auto-recycler will turn off every time an agent exits the scanner, so it would be difficult to accidentally leave the auto-recycler on.
This would help if an agent wants to hack a lot of portals, but they are close to the inventory cap. Then that agent would not have to keep recycling all the low level gear they get.

Niantic reps like @RedSoloCup have pointed out a number of times that inventory management is a part of the game, and this feature would devalue that.
As gear gets limited, from time to time, sometimes you are super grateful for a handful of X5s.
And low level resonators are always used.
So where would you draw the line for an auto recycler?
I would allow the user to set the level, because it would vary from situation to situation. For example, a couple of nights back I was trying to get some level 6 and level 7 resos, but I was at the inventory cap. So, I set up a level 5 portal farm and ran around hacking it in hopes of getting lucky and obtaining a couple 6-7 resos.
Note: I think that's how it works. If I understand the game mechanics correctly, loot from portals are determined by your level and the portal's level. Loot will drop that is between those two levels, inclusive, + or - 1 level. I could be wrong though. I honestly don't look too hard at my hack results screen. If I'm wrong then please correct me.
So, in that situation, I'd set the auto-recycler to level 5, so it would recycle all equipment level 5 or less. If I could tweak it with more granularity, then I'd set the XMP and ultra strike levels higher, probably level 6 or 7, because I had way too many of those.
As another example, I consider level 4 to be my new level 1 because I tend to set up level 5 portal farms and hack those portals until burnout. So, when I'm cargressing and passing a bunch of portals of unknown level, I might set the auto-recycler to recycle anything that is level 4 or less, so I can hack lower level portals without worry of level 1 - 4 gear getting in my inventory.
Although, level 3 resonators are kind of important as they allow you to set up level 4 portals without using too much higher level resos, but I digress.

You are wrong. :-)
The level of the hack is the lower of your level and the portal's level. The level of resonators and bursters received from a hack is between level-1 and level+2 inclusive (subject to all items being between L1 and L8 of course). However, power cubes and ultra strikes are always exactly the same as the hack level. The hack level is also what determines how many glyphs you get if you hack with glyphs.
Mass - recycling items has become so easy with Prime that I don't think such a feature is needed. Effort to implement this would be better spent on other things.
Ah, ok. And, that explains it. Thank you for the correction. (:
It's true that mass recycling is easier, but it's still annoying when I have to keep recycling items every couple of hacks. Although, you may be right that implementing this would take effort better spent on other things.
