Wayfarer issue

Wayfarer is currently showing nominations as "accepted" if they were approved in voting but denied by Niantic; e.g. due to proximity to another portal.

    I don’t think that’s a bug. I think it is intended.

The portal was approved, it just didn’t go live in Ingress due to that game’s distance mechanics

Consider what will happen when they open it up to PoGo players at the end of the year: some of their nominations will be accepted, not go live in PoGo, but will go live in Ingress. Is that ‘rejected’ or ‘accepted’? Similar situation.

I don’t follow HPWU at all, but half a year ago I read that there were some POIs in HPWU that weren’t in Ingress or PoGo (https://www.reddit.com/r/Ingress/comments/c4q20i/new_info_nonportals_showing_up_in_hpwu/). They were POIs that were accepted via OPR but didn’t go live in Ingress due to their 20 metre restriction. Those accepted portals were obviously stored however, if they went live in HPWU.

With the service moving to become game agnostic, one label of ‘accepted’ or ‘rejected’ will not cover the intricacies of all three games.

  • It might not be a bug, but it is irritating as heck.

There should be a third label to indicate there was an issue with the portal so I don't go looking around wondering why it isn't on the map.

  • Agreed. It isn't a priority functionality bug. The feature is functional.

However, this is a design bug. The UI feedback is ambiguous and leads the user to an inaccurate assumption.

Unfortunately because it's a "nice to have" improvement we may not see a fix in the near future.
