Niantic Wayfarer Bugs

Its shiny and new and still has some issues. I thought I'd start a post for non-working parts of the new system.

In nominations ( https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/nominations ) if you scroll down enough you can't scroll back up. Looks like there is a ajax request to load more portals in as you scroll down that erases the portals already in the list. Then when scrolling up there is no corresponding request to repopulate what was replaced. There is a work around; if you reverse the sort you can scroll down to your newest portal, reverse the sort again, and be back at the top.

  • Mobile version doesn’t show the supporting photo.

  • In nominations ( https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/nominations ) when clicking on a past submittal the large version has the city but is missing the state (which does show in the list). If you travel a lot or submit in rural areas having more then the city needed. Having only the city show is especially bad since its a approximation derived from the gps cords so rural things might say a city that doesn't reflect the location.

  • Also, when browsing my past nominations, there's a bug with the address - it always shows the previous address, not the current one. The map is ok.

The review screen doesn’t show address on all submissions.

  • In settings ( https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/settings ) hometown and bunus locations are missing the map that shows the current setting referenced by the "Click or tap on the map to set the location of your home town. Once set, this cannot be changed!" text. You do get the street address approximation of where the marker was in OPR as text, unfortunately because those were set with a map marker it can be odd translation. Clicking the edit symbol will show a world map with no location selected.

  • When logging in if you select a Google account not authorized for OPR you get a message indicating such. There is a back arrow displayed which you can use to go back and can try to authenticate again. All future authentication attempts will fail whether the new google account is authorized for OPR or not. You always get redirected to https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/handshakefailure which just says "Sorry, we are experiencing technical difficulties."

In nominations ( https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/nominations ) when searching matches are overly generous. The letter sequence just needs to appear in the title or description in that order. For instance searching for "Art" will yield portals with "Art" in their title as expected, but also with the word "department" or "partnership" in their description. It probably shouldn't pull matches from the middle of words or not trim spaces from the query.

  • On desktops when viewing old submissions the scrolling list is sized to the screen, but after selecting a entry the page becomes scrollable. When scrolling down the list can scroll out of view. It should probably be pinned so it floats in the display as the entry scrolls next to it or expanded to match the new page length.

  • When editing a queued nominations in ( https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/nominations ) you can not edit the "Supplemental Information", but you can edit all the other text fields. The description field is displayed (on desktop) on a single line. It probably should be in a multiline input field so you can actually see it all.

The SKIP-button does not seem to work: clicking on it does nothing. ...or maybe I'm just out of skips and that carried over from the old version? Hard to say, the button doesn't seem greyed out or anything such.

(I live in a region that gets nominations from neighbouring countries, in two languages that I cannot even read. So I constantly have to use skips...)

  • More of a design issue probably, but it seems that the page layout doesn't scale after a certain point; the area where the 'cards' are presented seems to have a hard limit of 1170 pixel width, so on high-resolution desktop monitors there'll be lot of wasted blank space on the right.

Please Niantic fix the cool down once again. I just got it after I voted on what seemed like 15-20 gazebo/pavilions in my last 30-40 votes stack. We can't individualize every single submission and clearly giving honest answer and filling out what it is still is not enough! why? :( Two times tonight and I am not spamming or using templates or rubber stamping anything.

Bug with withdrawing nominations: if you withdraw a nomination and then resubmit it with the same title, it seems to overwrite the withdrawn one. It'll show the old description, and it's not possible to edit it. Trying to change the title or description results in 'Invalid record'-error.

Edit: Hmm. This fixed itself after an hour or so. Got two separate entries now, with the first one being listed as withdrawn.

Under Nominations, filtering by "Not Selected" still shows all the In Queue submissions.

Some submissions that are labeled "In Queue" cannot be edited because they are "In Voting" according to wayfarer.

  • I had a portal upgraded in OPR just before the changeover, the portal in Wayfarer showed as a regular sub and offered me the upgrade next button which I hit, now the portal is accepted but my upgrade button is still stuck to that portal and I can't upgrade any newer submissions.

  • Whenever I log in, I get the message saying a portal is ready to be upgraded. "Congratulations, you have been awarded an Upgrade! If you currently have a pending Wayspot nomination, this Upgrade has been automatically redeemed and one of your nominations has been prioritized."

There's no way to dismiss this message. It appears every time.

    Two fresh new bugs:

    1) I can no longer sort nominations by Most Recent. The list now always shows the oldest nominations at the top, which makes it difficult to see the unhandled ones...

    2) Marking a nomination as 'Upgrade Next' seems to have made all of its secondary information vanish. The whole additional info section is gone, photo included.

  • If you change sorting to alphabetical and then back to recent it works again (temporarily).

Do upgrades even do anything? As far as I can tell, they don't.

I nominated two signs on a nature trail. Upgraded one of them, but the non-upgraded sign got approved first while the upgraded one is still in the queue.

  • GearGliderGearGlider ✭✭✭✭✭

My upgrades have always gotten through within a few days of the upgradenning. Might have been coincidence on your part.

  • My upgrades always worked, though sometimes it took 1-2 days to receive the first vote, but would get a response to them within a week. Three of my upgrades got approved this weekend, one got turned down.

  • Wayfarer re-order arrow stopped working, so I can no longer change least recent to most recent.

This seems to coincide with new submissions not showing either.

Also, the city, town, state, country information is not included in nominations we review any more, this seems like an issue

  • Reverse sorting doesn't work anymore. All my 2013 submissions are at the top. Super annoying. Have to use filters or scroll all the way down for my recent subs.

There’s a workaround For the recent sorting:

    sort by alphabetical

    then sorry by recent.

should show new ones at the top
