Why OPR Changing? Wayfarer ? My request..
Dear Niantic,
As core game is changing suddenly, there are some major things to address regarding the OPR (Wayfarer?).
If you guys are trying to give the opr to Pokemon Go players i.e, include them in the process that is a good idea.
But, even with all the experience off all the L12+ agents some low quality portals get accepted. Many are mainly from Pokemon go Players. As they lack the meaning of POI. They think they can do whatever as this is just a game ( Even Spoofing) . But, that is not the case of Ingress. Ingress is Not a game .. We don't want a portal in Someone's house.
I am not interested in blaming Pokemon go players coz i am one. But, mixing both game and player bring disaster to Ingress.
If u are trying to bring Pokemon go players to OPR. Please rethink and put preference in refining players ability to do opr.
Please find the attached screenshot. You will get a Idea about what they think about OPR test. Those test given by Niantic is just to prove the people reviewing are humans.?? (****).
(Reference https://pokemongohub.net/post/article/we-need-opr-for-pokemon-go-and-we-need-it-fast/)
If this is just for proving we are just human then AI can do better.
Somewhat guidelines??
Yes, this is just one person. But, look at the amount of share.
We don't need a portal reviewed by a 13 year old end up in Ingress Scanner which is his house.
Let them have there own POI. As ingress is bad at removing fake portals. we don't have the time to report each one of the House POI to get this
NIA operatives have reviewed your invalid Portal report.
There is not sufficient evidence to remove this Portal at this time.
Ingress was the first project of Niantic. Hope we won't loose players with your new ideas. Even pogo players don't know NIA history.
Already most of our senior players stop playing in our community.
Hope this Wayfarer has a strong hold in eliminating fake, spam, dainger portal/pokestops/Gym submission.

Hoping for a better Ingress tommorow..

"Ingress is Not a game .."
Ummm.... it is though
Wayfarer isn't about ignoring Ingress.
It's that Ingress has insufficient reviewers to keep up with demand. Global submissions for PoGo are being held up by the backlog that already exists. We need PoGo to review so that we can get through far more submissions from far more places that Ingress players have never gone, or never submitted.
The POI database cannot be split, because it is the primary asset of Niantic. It is the thing that makes Warner Brothers and Nintendo work with Niantic to make their games.
The greater reviewing capability is required, and inevitable. As you said, Ingress players are bad anyway. Quality improvement has to happen regardless, and will happen.
The primary asset of Niantic will be significantly devalued if 4 million PoGo players start approving every potted plant, lawn ornament and dog poop station plus all the outright fake couch submissions that 30,000 Ingress players have tried so hard to prevent.
Cultura, deporte, arte, culto.
En fin su juego, sus reglas.
In theory more reviewers should actually make the whole system better. It should allow NIA to raise the bar before portals are approved so more people look at each nomination. That would give them more data to meta moderate the reviewers with. The assumption above is that all reviewers (will or do) have equal weight. There is no reason that has to be the case. It could be that pokemon players won't have as much weight as ingress players and/or that the weight of your opinion is based on the accuracy of your past matches. Ideally when those low quality portals eventually get removed, people who did approved them will lose weight and have less future ability to mess up future nominations.
If and only Niantic removes a potential fake portal submission. That is not the case. I did a removing request which is a 100% fake. But, still there.. I can snd u the coord.
I too am standing guard against the upcoming horde of newbie submissions. I do not fear the noob reviewers, because OPR is boring, unpaid work. As long as us "watch dogs" are still around, we control the overall quality.
Look to OpenStreetMap, the crowdsourcing world wipe map service where ANYONE can add/edit. They have their "vandals", editing for benefits in Niantic games, but they are corrected by other, dedicated editors (with no gameplay incentives at all) who also work for free.
Sidenote, has everyone gone backed an re-evaluated their very first submissions ? I checked mine, and boy, was I a noob :)
According to wayfarer, that's my very first.
Though I'm sure if I dig through emails, I'll have older submissions 🤷♂️
I reviewed 22 nominations of which 3 I rejected because private residence. One was clearly a carved out portion of lawn with statute, one was a playground at an apartment complex but the only access point was a shared driveway with a single family residence, one was questionable where the street address didn't match the address of the organization holding the historic item and I only had satelite view with smaller more likely to be houses. Unless we're being fed specific nominations based osm residential tags, this is concerning.
As far as quality is concerned if Niantic decides to relax it and allow memorial benches more freely so be it. I just don't want to create issues where good poi's are asked to be removed with the bad because of crowds and trepassing.
It's unlikely, and quite frankly insulting to the roughly 1 billion people who have played Pokémon GO. The majority of Pokémon GO players follow the rules, we add valid and worthy portal submissions via Ingress already, we review on OPR fairly and in compliance with the guidelines. To say that other Pokémon GO players aren't as trustworthy as Ingress players (which seems to be your basic argument here) based solely on the Niantic title they choose to play is quite frankly unacceptable.
There are good players in Pokemon Go. But, In 4 milln there are more people with multiple accounts with L40 account. For a area with 12 players with 3 account per person can do much danger to the quality of fake location submission POI. That's the main concern. They can shape the Google map for ther support also.
Don't know where the figure of 1 billion comes from. More like 4 million including multi accounts.
I don't know the numbers... But, this is bad with multi..
The latest reliable figure I've seen is 2.98 million Android devices with PoGo. Going by OS market share that would be about 4 million in total.
For all we know they might have improved that algorithms they use to increase the detection of multiple voting.
Though for myself I struggle to push through OPR once wouldn't even consider doing it 2-3 times, not even considering changing my pogo gmail to re.
If responses come back really fast fantastic, and if as a result park benches and drink fountains all come through well that's on Niantic.
From Wikipedia: "By early 2019, the game had crossed over 1 billion downloads worldwide." I appreciate there are nowhere near 1 billion active players. 4 million may be the number of active players.
There is no way 1 billion accounts have been created and not to mention all the deletes and reinstall counts towards this. All the fear mongering is not helping and another thing a lot of people aren't going to keep voting once they realize how much work it is to get an upgrade or fall into poor status when they vote against the rules too many times.
All this "Pokemon players are evil" nonsense is what's not helping.
Although there are rational people who play only pokemon go, there are a large portion who multi-account. It's the norm to multi-account or break the rules because it makes the game more fun. It is the fear that attitude will carry over to approving poi's.
A lot of us play both and do not wish to see poi's added to our games only to have them ripped out possibly taking even more than were added inappropiately because stupid situtations with trepassing/crowding are created.
First and foremost I am a Pokemon Go Player. (I don't believe most PoGo players can submit/review with integrity to help the POI Database)
I have for months been thinking about how to logically ingrate Pokemon Go Players into submissions and reviews. While submissions are slowly being added worldwide, I fear the current set up is not sustainable.
Changes that need to occur:
Remove S2 Cell requirements for portal placement in both PoGo/HPWU.
-Subnote: If not at very least in the submissions screen show other Waystops already in the area as not all may be in the game submitting from.
Make the Wayfarer Reviewers Test extremely difficult
Suggested Requirements:
I believe that submitting should have a staggered requirement based on S2 Cell Density, possibly on S2 Level 8 or S2 Level 6 cell size. Low Density should require level 40 (20 Million EXP), Mid Density (35 Million EXP), and High Density (50 Million EXP). Each density level would also get different amounts of submissions available. I also think before submitting there should be a test.
Review requirements should be similar. However, again a new much harder test. A limited "reviewer" pool, lets say each area S2 Level 8 has a 150 reviewer cap, and only 75 can come from PoGo. Once the cap is reached people who pass the test will be on a waiting list to become an official reviewer. Reviewers cycle regularly or if they are not active enough they are dropped from the rotation and someone else is placed in. This ensures adequate total review despite the limited pool of reviewers.
A "Global" team, these are top scoring players on the test who were unable to review locally due to the cap. These players would review the oldest outstanding global submissions. This would help reduce backlog of areas without enough reviewers.
While this doesnt entirely prevent people with 6 accounts reviewing their own stuff it should help limit them all form being in Wayfarer reviewing.
Have you seen every "piece of wood on 4 posts with no walls" that is getting approved as a Gazebo? The quality of Ingress reviewers is no better than PoGo. Plenty do it right, plenty do it wrong.
I am not saying they are all evil. I play both games. Just being honest people are going to get turned off real quick when they lose status or have to spend hours to grind an upgrade. This goes for anyone doing including now with ingress agents.
Most pogo players will fail the test so I am not worried lol
They will say Yes to anything that is on a roundabout, schoolgrounds, or private property. Guaranteed fail.
You seem to be forgetting the test gives you all the information you require to answer the questions correctly. Either that or you think all Pokémon GO players are idiots. Yet more inappropriate and offensive stereotyping.
Because most of them ARE idiots just based on the submissions I've seen on Wayfarer so far and the many garbage requests I've received over the past 2 years. I play both games. 100million XP in Pogo.
