Will there be a way to do Prime Submissions a bit faster?

So I've been taking twice the length or almost three times the length of submitting in Prime than in Redacted. Are there any shortcuts to submitting in Prime or do we have to wait manually even if you know how the submission system works in Prime?

  • Nominations has been a backward step, slower, timeouts etc...what they are doing with adding more red-tape to the process is that they are saying is high level agents can't be trusted with subs.

  • I have submitted my first portal in Prime last Saturday. Even though the process takes longer, I think it´s better now than in Redacted. I´m in agreement with Vorticity here. My portal was accepted Wednesday, which is quite fast for Niantics standards.

  • @thedeacon1972 that's an exception to the rule i'm afraid. lucky you!

Nominations are indeed slower - but overall I like the system and supporting photo (can save me minutes of spinning around creating a photo sphere)

As for approval speed it really depends on the quality (how quickly agents will high vote it up) and the locations density of portals from what I can tell. Case in point - I visited my home village that has 4 portals, submitted a new one and it was active the following day. Submitted a couple of others in low density areas and they all cleared within 4 days. Submitted one in my normal play town - can take a couple of weeks. :)

A lot of people don't understand how to use the supporting photo. And to be honest, they aren't always needed. Here are a few examples on how they can be helpful.

    • Museum is a brick city rowhouse, And there's a tiny plaque on the building saying that it's a museum. If you take a picture of the building, you can't read the plaque. If you take an image of the plaque, you can't discern the building. My friend made the portal picture the building, and the supporting photo a close up of the plaque.
    • Playground is under trees and can't been seen on satellite. Portal picture is close up of the playground.. Supporting photo zooms out and shows the path and gazebo as well as playground, and the other landmarks can be seen on satellite. Location can now be verified.

The submission statement can have value or not. I've used it to explain things ... like "this opened in the summer of 2018, so you can't see it on satellite" or "Although this is near a school, it's county parks property."

Overall, thumbs up for Prime Submissions, except for something about my scanner (Google Pixel XL) where it doesn't advance from one screen to the next without pushing the buttons a lot of times. Those lapses (waiting for the next screen) probably add 5 minutes to the process. It's that bad.

    1. It need a tutorial of how to use it, before letting players use it.

    2. Make it able to skip the support photo and description. It's not always necessary. It's a plus.

Prime submissions take longer because you are forced to provide a lot more information. In Redacted, all you really needed was a single photo and a title. Perhaps the screens before you take a photo could be removed, but is there any benefit? Especially since this screen now gives you the option to take a new photo or use an existing one, which it didn't in the past. Perhaps fix the issue where you don't directly type into the text box would improve overall speed? This would also remove the need to touch enter twice after filling out each box.

I'm fine with the UI forcing us to take more time to create a good submission with appropriate support information.

The part about Prime portal nominations that is not ok is how long it takes to upload the nomination data once you submit. The process seems very data intense. And it doesn't work at all in many rural areas with poor cell service. I recently did a few nominations in town with almost full bars of 4g service and each nomination took 2-3 minutes to upload before I got a confirmation and could use the app again.

Please look into how much data prime is using across the board.
