Prime is not working, behavior like a softban

My Ingress Prime is not working, I can login the map is loading I see portals and links everything looks like it is fine.

I can do:

  • delete items
  • load/unload containers

But I can not:

  • hack
  • link
  • use xmp
  • use mods
  • see the cee agent namesomm
  • drop items
  • pickup items
  • submit/edit portals
  • recharge
  • see remote portal status via keys

I wrote the support on https://ingresshelp.com but they say "We are not able to find any restriction imposed on your account. Despite our best attempts, we are not able to reproduce this issue and we haven't received widespread reports of this problem".

I also tried it on another phone and it was still not working and somebody else tried it with her account on my phone and she could play. So I ruled that out that it is my phone.

    but if niantic says its nothing with your acc then it must be a phone issue?

  • Have you waited a bit and made sure you haven't gotten falsely speedlocked? I get most of those issues when I leave prime open in the background

  • Yes it looks like this, but I already tried 3 phones. So its nothing with the phone it is definitely the account. And also niantic support can make mistakes 🙊.

    Yes I waited for more than am month now... So you say I have to let prime open for how long?

  • It is not more than a few minutes for the speedlock issue that I am struggling with, but it happens often. If yours has persisted so long it is likely something else. I hope Niantic addresses is soon!

  • I have the exact same issue and also Niantic says I have no restriction on my account. It's the been like this for 6 days and I am supposed to go play in an Anatomy next weekend and I already paid for all my travel and such but I can't play at all.

    Did you find a way to make it work?

    Here's everything that I have done:

    - multiple restarts of my device

    - -multiple reinstalls of Ingress

    - I have the latest version of Ingress

    - I have the latest version of iOS

    - I tried on 4 devices and I have the same issue everywhere (2 iOS, 2 Android)

    - another Ingress account can play fine on my device

    - Here's what I can't do (the game tries to make the action but I can't do anthing else until I restart. When I restart the action has been done):

       - fire XMP

       - deploy resonator

       - glyph hack

       - deploy mod

       - interact with a capsule

  • I have the same issue. It looks like things that happen on initial load works but nothing after that which require server communication works.

    Tested a couple of different phones and carriers. Same behavior. So far only tested Android. On my way to meet up with a friend that will lend me an iPhone. But seeing here that othera with the issue have already tested both Android and iOS I don't have much hope.

    Worked with support last week but after they said they had escalated it I have not heard anything. And no response when I ask for an update.

    Test with only GPS not both GPS and Wifi in GPS settings or location settings.

    No I have still the same status and Niantic won't do anything about it.

    I even reset my phone but that was not working either...

    But I am glad that I am not the only one with that problem, hopefully If we are more players with that problem Niantic have to do something about it.

    I had an agent with this same problem the other day. She hadn't played in a while, but now that's she's trying prime she couldn't hack, or do any of the other things you listed.

  • Those effected, where are you based?

    There is a number of people with the same issue. But trying to find a common thread that might indicate what it is. Location has so far been one.

    If you can note you user name, location (country or more specific) and last time you know you could play.

    Versions of prime you have used, were you beta, back to redacted and then to prime on shutdown etc.

    I quit playing a year ago and opened the scanner sometimes. But most of the time with redacted because mimimi prime xD

    Prime was working at the beginning, don't know when it changed... So I only used to check out redacted from time to time. But when redacted was shut down I had no other option than using prime and prime still was not working. So I sent a support request to Niantic.

    It would be very nice if all the agents with this issue post here so that Niantic will see there are a lot more affected by this issue.

  • My situation sounds the same as axi92

    I installed prime (barely used it), and mainly used redacted until it was shutdown. Uninstall/re-install, clear cache doesn't work. Account doesn't work on other devices as well.

    I'm located in SF bay area. Really get the feeling this is account related and not location based...

  • Yes it is but as it seems nobody at the support is doing anything about it...

    This issue sounds similar to https://community.ingress.com/en/discussion/5096/cant-recharge-wont-load-agents-names which got a vague response from NianticCasey. It would be useful to merge or link these issues at least

    Take a look at the second post here, there is a video. Is it the same on your account? That you don't see com messages?

    @NianticCasey @RedSoloCup can you give us some information about that issue? At least that you have found a problem? All I hear is that Niantic can't find anything that indicates that there is a problem at all.

    I wrote the support multiple times but my ticket is gone after a week with no response. I think a wrote about 4 tickets?

    And I have this issue since redacted was shut down.

  • This is still affecting a number of players all over. it isn't their phones, and it isn't the version they're using. The commonality seems to be that they hadn't played in a while. All the players I'm aware of have submitted tickets, on both factions. A number of them weren't able to participate in the last anomaly. It was brought up in the POC slack for Umbra.

  • Also having the same problem. Android. Los Angeles play area. Haven't played since redacted. Support escalated it and haven't heard a word since. Even sent updates like buying a new phone and pogo HP accounts work fine. Still nothing back.

  • FWIW, I just tried my account again and it seems to be working. Hopefully it's fixed for others

  • There was a fix a few weeks back that resolved all the cases I knew about.

  • I'm dealing with this now. It will not load the game unless I'm on wifi. If it switches to cellular everything stops working. I have a Moto G6, it worked fine last week. Really starting to **** me off.

  • That's definitely a different issue to what was happening above. It didn't matter whether it was Wifi or not.

    Your issue sounds more like it's being denied access to cellular data.

    I got my account back in working order. As of the update in mid Dec I was finally able to unlink my social media accounts which seemed to have stemmed the problem. I unlinked my Facebook account and my account started to work, it was glitchy at first (would have the issues I had show up for a minute or two then it would disapate) then after a few days it was working with no issues. Ever since I have been back at my old ways of Ingress.

  • @Perringaiden I'm grateful for the fix, but at the same time the lack of communication about when a fix would go out (I just randomly decided to login; didn't see any updates to either post) and the fact that the game was basically unplayable for months is pretty frustrating. (barring starting a new account and breaking tos)

    I'm not expecting compensation or anything. Just venting about typical niantic SOP

  • Yeah, I don't know that they knew how many people it affected (though I guess once they solved it they probably should have been able to track that back), so they probably didn't do a blast thinking it was a small amount.
