An Ingress Journey

Greetings, Ingress Community.

My name is Agent HeroMasks. I have been playing Ingress since November 2017, my affiliation is with the Enlightened and I am Pro XF-CC

I discovered Ingress through Pokémon Go.

(I temporarily deleted Pokémon Go to play Ingress and I'll explain why In the next couple of paragraphs.)

I'm not gonna lie though, this game has me broke 😂

But if it weren't for this "game", I wouldn't have travelled to so many new countries, met so many people and friends. Or family, if you will.

I wanna give @Zim_irl a shout out. He was the very first agent I met in person. I remember it very well. That story is coming shortly but I just want to say thanks, Brian for the welcoming gift! (an awesome 3D printed keyring that you can spin!)

The reason why stopped playing Pokémon Go was actually because of the "community" that was there.

I joined the community through Facebook after a year I was playing pokemon. I got excited as I got more people to join. But that wasn't exactly the case. When I joined the community in my area, (not going to disclose for obvious reasons) the people there were already... Clicky, if you get me. Wouldn't say hello when I joined them for raids and would just look at each other when I tried some small talk.

So after a month of this, I got sick of it and said, "yknow what, **** Pokémon Go"

That's how I started playing Ingress

I actually started playing as Agent KRA112. I chose that name randomly as I wanted to play anonymously... Again, for obvious reasons.

I was playing solo for about a month until @Zim_irl contacted me via comms. It took him several attempts for me to respond, until I finally said "okay, fine . I'll meet you for one pint lol".

I eventually met up with him in a local pub and I instantly recognised him with his big, bright, illuminous Enlightened shirt and a HUGE Anker Powerbank sitting on the table, I thought "yep, this is him, I guess". Lol.

We spent the entire evening talking about Ingress and about each other until he convinced me to come to a "meet up".

Since then I have been to 6 Anomalies, 5 First Saturdays, 2 recharge rooms and countless parties 😉

Besides Ingress, I used to do some cosplaying as a hobby.

As of the Amsterdam 2019 Anomaly, I am now Agent HeroMasks, thanks to the support of the Ingress family who didn't think that cosplay wouldn't "fit in".

I have grown more as a confident person because of this.

Now this is on both sides. Enlightened and Resistance have supported me through many things and why I am begging people to try Xfcc relations. Obviously when I am in the field wearing ALL green, I have a healthy competitiveness with them 😏

At the end of the day, we are all the same, but fighting for a different cause.

So, just again... Thanks for having and being so supportive.

If you made it this far, go ahead and ask some questions if you're curious 😂

Peace ✌️

It’s great to hear stories like this. Traveling abroad is definitely one of the perks to Ingress. :)
