OPR in the news on PokemonHub....

Seems odd to give access to OPR before submission ( though always thought that should be the case).

  • Could be they will start in areas that already have submissions and make the requirements more stringent than just L40.

  • I don't like the requirements beyond level 40. I have a level 40 account. I play how I want to. I don't sit there and grind for additional xp. I have way more low tier raids done than legendaries because I like to play Ingress and Pogo together. I catch manually. I don't like being thought as not a "real" level forty. (Not by you. It's just a general attitude I run across).

The only thing that is necessary is a way to limit possible bots and the second/third/etc accounts of people.

  • harkonnnenharkonnnen ✭✭✭✭

Its just speculations atm, it could be based on XP or even how long ago the account was created or just level 40 and the criteria is just to control how many people join OPR at once

  • I'm 175 comments behind. Did anyone make dummy realize that a mass-produced logo (Ravens) on a fancy background as a hung portrait (that could be moved any time easily) is never going to get approved?

It's not hung like that. It was built in to the wall during the renovation this year.

  • It could easily be removed, even if they sized a recessed area for it, but nobody is ever going to think it's permanent, and even so, it's a mass-produced logo.

  • It's a unique piece of artwork located in Baltimore, MD. That's local community pride. I disagree. Its valid. It's a wood carve piece of art.

Obviously not, but that is also now irrelevant in this thread as the topic is about 'OPR in the news at pogohub'...which really makes this thread irrelevant as there are others discussing Wayfarer.

  • I feel the same whenever the topic of requirements past L40 comes up, people always set them ridiculously high. I'm a day 1 player, I've never taken a day off, and I've never lost a single daily raid pass and always do T5 raids, but I don't lucky egg friendship increases or raids so in terms of xp I'm one of the lowest ranking players in my area. I have nearly all maxed raid counters and have done every shortman challenge available, but my 35 million or so xp pales in comparison to the 60-100 million that even the most casual players have that lucky egg and do 15 raids every raid hour, then put the game down until the next week's raid hour.

Meanwhile I also took the time to grind to L12 in Ingress, and have since gotten about 300 portals approved, and have around 13k Agreements on my Recon badge, yet whenever people on TSR post what they feel are "super basic" requirements for OPR, it's always stuff that is double to triple what I have, and it's clear that the people writing it are either in massive metro areas or have spent extreme amounts of money on the game or both.

I've got 300 stops and gyms made, I've helped to create over 10k more by reviewing them, I've soloed ttar, duoed Dialga, trioed T6 Mewtwo, etc., but according to the TSR crowd I'm nowhere near experienced enough in the game to review when PoGo gets Wayfarer access.

  • AgentB0ssAgentB0ss ✭✭✭✭✭

The problem I see is how to they open Wayfarer to PoGo without flooding in all 1 million + level 40 accounts? I definitely get your point you can be experienced in the game beyond a single stat measurement. Most 80 million + players haven't duoed a Dialga etc.

I personally think and will always go back to cell density as the answer and a harder test and a "cap" on the number of reviewers by region.

Different EXP requirements based on low, medium, or high density S2 level 6 or 8 cells. Make the test 3 times as long and much harder (make ingress retake too). Then each region has a cap of like 150 reviewers, you can be in a list to become a reviewer and if someone isnt reviewing enough they get taken from the list, and it rotates weekly or monthly otherwise.

Its tough because there needs to be a balance, I am also a Pokemon Go player who played ingress solely to submit, then I found out my area has almost zero reviewers so I got to 12 to get upgrades. Would it be nice to sit back and get my stuff reviewed and approved? Absolutely however, I have had some super fake things get submitted by a bought account in my area that would likely go through if we had 150 PoGo players in reviewing.

I care about the database and the portal network. However, I know the players in my area very well and I wouldnt trust any but 5 to submit or review based on the rules.

@NianticCasey @forummoden Please tell me how this was marked as abuse? Can someone explain this to me? Seriously is there a way we can chat and talk this over instead of just continually getting marked for abuse by someone who is clearly abusing the system? He is literally flagging EVERY single post he doesnt agree with at this point. I know for a fact yesterday alone he flagged AT least 18 comments in this thread over nothing.

  • AgentB0ssAgentB0ss ✭✭✭✭✭

@NianticCasey @forummoden Can you please look into the repeated abuse and harassment by @TimerCIock

He is misusing the system and flagging players because they don't agree with him lying and cheating.

I haven't posted in over 10 minutes and yet I get a spam block? It even says 0 times....

  • Density isnt an issue. Niantic already stated they want things dense. And if it gets too dense they will remove some.

MY warning was for a song that never ends. Because apparently, with all pleas directed towards Niantic staff being mightily ignored, quoting public-domain song in protest violates the ToS. I'd previously made my point that this thread had gone off-topic repeatedly, and directly, and indirectly, to no effect.

But to get back ON topic.

I'm not enormously afraid of the future onboarding of Pogo reviewers into OPR/Wayfarer. It's going to be initially watched very closely by Niantic, and restricted to countries with few Ingress reviewers.

However, the local Pogo community knows that I'm able to submit things around here. I've even done a few submissions upon request, such as a community centre that we weren't otherwise aware of. And I wander around on occasion with friends, and we submit things in smaller cities or rural areas, when such things are plausible and not-yet submitted.

But when the only requests from players end up being that their buddy works at a pawn shop and wants it to become a pokestop? It's discouraging.

  • AgentB0ssAgentB0ss ✭✭✭✭✭

What I mean by density is lower density areas should have less requirements to submit and review in PoGo so they have the opportunity to build there area quicker than a higher density area.

  • It's the use of a proper name associated with an agent. I have seen 2 proper names used when talking Timerclock plus the reference that is just a relative. I find any names/associations so difficult to follow that I would unable to identify Timerclock in person anyways. Just use the agent name so much less confusing.

It isn't worth posting in this thread or arguing with him if Niantic will keep letting him abuse flags and punish people he doesn't agree with.

Just put him on ignore. If Niantic wants him to spread lies about the requirements without correcting him, let them.

He's telling people to put portals on schools? Let him.

He's bought his account and will just buy another one if this one gets trashed. NIA doesn't care. They've let him stay around this long.

We get warned because he flags us, we get warned when we flag him. There's no point. Just let him put portals on school property and let Niantic deal with the fallout.

Hey if it gets really bad, we can show people this thread that Niantic knew and did nothing.

Pokemon Go also has a medal system, though it is largely unused save for a couple of special research tasks. I can imagine requiring a specific amount of "gold medals" (such as 10 or 12) before they can review or that specific medals need to be gold, such as Jogger.

  • AgentB0ssAgentB0ss ✭✭✭✭✭

Yea, I just know the 150 level 40's in my area are going to flood the system when they get submissions. They already suggest really awful things to me for submissions. Like a gumball machine at a local pizza place...

  • AgentB0ssAgentB0ss ✭✭✭✭✭

Yea, I am guessing that is what is it. The 2 names you see are his and his sons, his sons name is the name he uses in Pokemon Go and begins with a G.

However, a flag for using his name is pretty bad when they've confirmed their name and even posted screenshots from their Facebook Page on this forum in the Baseball Thread. So, I am only going base don information THEY have provided.

They could do gold medals not sure what amount would be applicable to review. I think specific medals could be a decent idea.

  • @AgentB0ss Put Timerclock on ignore and leave this thread. There are better threads to post in.

Honestly, I dealt with an accusation of cheating for Timerclock when the my actions were the indirect result of an illness. Then when I post to have people just stop fighting with him, he flags my comments as abuse. I don't like to be intimidated and I can't understand why it is allowed to occur but it is.

  • Per new wayfarer. Athletic fields are only restricted by prp of 40m. Schools they are allowed on....

Local pizza shop should be allowed. Players do use them when they are out. Just like Rita's and Ice Cream Shops. They are in wayfarer in the "What is this" Section. A review should happen for these places.

Lower destiny is almost every area.... They should release the countries that have submissions. They should release areas like the USA as well, as the USA is the home of Niantic and has major areas of the USA that need help.

Discouraging because you are afraid it will slow the process down. Yet millions of reviewers being added, should reduce the waiting period.

He can't post new topics so he's pretty much stuck with this one until it gets closed

Please keep this discussion civil and on-topic. If you would like to discuss ANYTHING else besides Pogo/Wayfarer, please just start a new discussion. This includes rules "interpretation".

It's discouraging, because the vast majority of Pogo players asking for submissions refuse to actually read any documents or listen to advice. They just want things where they live or where they work, regardless of PRP and the bluntly "common" locations.

My advice to them has always been, if there isn't something that follows the rules where you are, you are absolutely free and encouraged to work with your community/municipality. Hire artists to paint murals. Sponsor your Boy Scouts to build commemorative/educational plaques. Go to the library and research your local history.

But I'm never ever going to submit your car dealership or playgroundless fast food joint. And it's a waste of your time and that of hundreds of others' time to bother trying.

  • harkonnnenharkonnnen ✭✭✭✭

Submit what you believe is valid (the same advice I will give to my local pogo players when they eventually get access to either).

If or when it gets rejected consider the effort you have put into your submission and either resubmit it with more detail and overall improved and consider including a possible 360 sphere (depending what rejection reasoning is in the response email) or consider it might not be a valid submission.

    Ahem. To be fair, lol
