"Hidden gems" is an idiom which means something which is extremely outstanding and not many people may know about; for example, Blame It on Rio by Stanley Donen is a good movie, but relatively unknown by the mainstream world, hence a hidden gem.
Wanting a pokéstop in the park, at the lake, or wherever does not make something a hidden gem. Calling a random picnic table in the park a hidden gem does not make it a hidden gem. When you say hidden gem, I think more like a place in town that's often rated #1 BBQ (or darn close), but it's located in a spot so obscure that you'd never find unless you had been there before, much like the Isla de Muerta from Pirates of the Caribbean.
Again, stop trying to force bad POIs into qualifying and find some that actually meet the criteria.
Hey guess where you go to ask for Niantic official responses? That AMA you were too chicken to post in.
The boards are for the community to discuss. Our opinions are what youre asking for by posting here and not in the officially designated question thread. Niantic already addressed you about your wrong opinion on drinking fountains and the thing you are on about now is already very clearly addressed in the guide so you can tag all you want I have SIGNIFICANT doubt theyll answer
Irony. You all say they are to be rejected. Yet they are in the eligible criteria section for a picnic table. Yet you haven't even accepted one. Because you're too picky....
I never said they can't be approved. I said they're not going to be automatic 5 star POIs like you want them to be. Did you even look at what you posted? Here, I will help.
What's significant about what you're trying to nominate? Put it on the description.
The POI is the picnic area. Not the picnic table. To create a picnic area, you need a natural environment like a tree with a picnic table in a park. It is not rocket science... You are handling reviewing of portals. Parks have picnic areas and should be allowed.
The POI is the shoreline. Not the picnic table. To create a fishing area, you need a natural environment like a shoreline with a picnic area in a park on a shoreline. It is not rocket science. Parks have fishing spots that are used with picnic tables. You are handling reviewing portals, not defining the constitution.
It's pretty see to see picnic tables are listed in the eligible criteria area too. Yet we are here faced with arguing with people who don't follow the rules....
It says in the criteria that they are ineligible unless significant. Being in proximity to a natural feature does not make it significant. It is not a representative of the natural feature. You need signs of you want these kinds of things to go through. Talk to your local parks department or enjoy your rejections. These are your options dude
It's pretty see to see picnic tables are listed in the eligible criteria page. It says they are allowed... Yet we are here faced with arguing with people who don't follow the rules....
No it specifically says they may not meet the criteria UNLESS. What makes a table a picnic table is placing it in one of the many locations you keep mentioning it DOESN'T make it significant.
If when you go review next a plan old picnic table comes up, even if it's a nice picture it will either be 1* or at best it might be 2* and the rest of the information will be reviewed. If all that is said is buzz words like community and basically you describe how to use a picnic table then that will stay a 2* and end up rejected.
The poi is the natural environment not the table....
fishing spot is near a shoreline.
Picnic areas are nature by trees and/or plants in parks....
Community seating areas are at parks and apartment complexes. They are usually a ground of things where people can sit and enjoy picnic in a grass area. Or a family gathering that people want to do outside.
You are assuming it is the table because you are used to looking at piece of art. The art is the environment. It's no different than mountain top with a lookout tower. The tower is a building, nothing special. But the environmental submissions require a manmade object. It is allowed as a tree is nature, grass is nature, plants are nature. The manmade feature is the table. No different then a sign. Go to a park. A table will be located in the same location everyday within a few feet. Typically tables aren't moved because they are usually located by trees or water to create a nice shaded place to enjoy. (Definition of a hidden gem.)
They literally have more criteria than a statue at a restaurant or gas station. As they are and will always be at parks and located to specific locations.

What are different scenery locations allowed? A baseball home plate represents a baseball field. A soccer goal represents a soccer field. A slide represents a playground. A picnic table represents a picnic area at a park. If you name it a picnic table yes it needs to be pretty. If you have a fishing spot by the water shoreline, you can use a picnic area that to register a fishing spot as a picnic area too, to make it memorable to the community. It kills 2 birds with one stone. Creating areas at a park for people to enjoy that is what they do and what we do. No different than a sports fields or a playground or pavilion. No different than 18 disc golf courses in a park. Except people can't sit in between waiting to use the disc golf course, if it is crowded, although a picnic table by a disc golf sign would increase the value to me. Families go to parks for 9 reasons for the most part.
1. Athletic sports.
2. Playgrounds for children
3. Picnic areas with friends or family. Or for special family events.... (birthday's, anniversaries, etc, dates...)
4. Fishing.
5. Boat ramps and water sports.
6. Educational.
7. Architecture.
8. Nature.
9. Hiking and adventure.
These are your approved areas at a park. You just aren't realizing it. Because you say it's not correct. But nothing states manmade objects have to be a sign. Architecture and scenery are allowed in game and recognized by a manmade object. All of the above are allowed because they exist via satellite and can be confirm or even seen in various websites for the park. Definition of a hidden gem. A location not many might be familiar if until they see it for the first time. @imseethru never got coordinates or a specific location as to where and which picnic tables for the fishing spots. Yet he was able to find it in game and in person based on a picture. How everyone can argue over the intents for these is idiotic. That is exactly what a hidden gem is intended to be. 1 spot out of 36 acres of land... Something the community can find and learn to enjoy.
Need me to find which spot on the thread to share his comment earlier?

You forgot to ask about Dog Poop Signs.
I will respond when you respond when Niantic responds. Thanks.
Anyone else notice, if you go to the first page of the thread, all the [ACCEPTED ANSWERS] are TimerCiock's ramblings and bad screenshots?
English must not be your primary language...

Okay everyone, this time THIS TIME, if no one says anything, if no one responds, the madness can stop.
I never said they can't be approved. I said they're not going to be automatic 5 star POIs like you want them to be. Did you even look at what you posted? Here, I will help.

I have.... thousand times...
A picnic table by itself is not significant. A picnic table used in a community seating area or a fishing spot is significant!
1,000 times wow. How many accounts are you playing to manage such a feat?
If a your definition for a Picnic table being significant is it being used for seating, when would a picnic table not be significant?
Maybe I'm taking the wrong Approach.
@TimerCIock if you stop responding, everyone here will stop spreading the message that dog poop poles and electrical towers shouldn't be portals

It isn't rocket science and yet you are still struggling so much. Sad.

It won't prove anything. You'll still be wrong!
Nope. This I am correct sir. You guys are wrong. What's the definition of a hidden gem? Something may not be well known to all of the community?
Wait a sec.
So you now claim these fishing and picknick spots are hidden gems (not well known to the community)
And dozens of pages ago you claimed these were hotspots.
