Stuff that already is or is not a portal has and never will be a great indication of what should be a portal. We all know things in the past and even current can get approved when they should'nt.
You have not once in this or any other thread proven that anyone but you, yourself are reviewing poorly in OPR.
In three locations "man-made" objects are listed for natural features. The examples provided are plaques, signs, and signboards. No where does it provide an example of objects that are not there to just explain the natural feature....
There is a play I will leave unmentioned who insists playgrounds are the devil and shouldnt be approved and that PoGO/Ingress should be split etc... but no where TimerCiock levels.
@NianticCasey I hate to ask, @TimerCIock missed the AMA yesterday and would really like Niantics Definition on "Pedestrian Access" currently he believes that means every portal requires a sidewalk and the portal should be away from the POI itself and placed on the sidewalk.
I know you are busy but we would love to set the word straight on this.
Sorry your excuses keep changing. You were on the boards while the AMA was open. You chose not to post in them for whatever reason even though you were posting in this forum and have been full of hubris about how right you are. We believe the guidelines as they stand are clear and OPR is reviewing your candidates correctly. You believe otherwise so you should have posted your questions. I posted questions that I felt needed clarity and I would not want my name associated with your ideas.
You literally pick and choose where the examples matter or don't matter. You either need to argue examples mean nothing or examples mean everything you can't go both ways on that.
While I believe a pier is absolutely acceptable and why I asked, I also don't believe it falls under the Natural feature category. I believe natural feature is literally a sign about a lake, a sign about a mountain, a plaque at a volcano... etc. A believe a pier to promote exercise, exploration, etc. Thus why I asked the question, but these are opinions and I could be wrong. I however, more than any of my other questions on the AMA hope the pier/boat launch one gets answered.
Parks are acceptable.... Yet without a manmade object they are not acceptable and rejected.
Lookout towers on mountains are allowed, what are they? Manmade points of interest on a natural feature.
Playgrounds are what? Manmade points of interest in a park. (Parks are natural features if they have no manmade objects.)
Pavilions are what? manmade points of interest in a park. (Parks are natural features if they have no manmade objects.)
Educational Signage is what? Manmade point of interest.
Concrete is what? Manmade object.
Concrete used to make a boat ramp. Manmade point of interest.
Wood is what? Manmade object.
Wood used to make a boat ramp. Manmade point of interest.
Bridge has what materials typically? Concrete and wood. Yet bridges are allowed.
Bridges at parks are what? Manmade point of interest.
Signs have what? Wood, concrete, steel, aluminum, etc.... Manmade point of interest. Yet acceptable.
Dog Poop Sign at a Park? Manmade point of interest at a natural feature..... Yet acceptable.
Park rules signs are what? Manmade point of interest at a park.
Water towers are made of what? Steel & concrete..... Yet are acceptable as a point of interest.
Transmission towers are made of what? Steel & concrete. Yet are rejected because you say they are not a point of interest.... Yet they are man made objects at a natural feature......
You can't say things are allowed and not allow those same things for other things at the same places....
Playgrounds are made of what?
Pavilions are made of what?
Park signs are Signs... All signs at parks should be allowed.... Without a question no matter what it is a sign of.... (Even dog poop signage.)
I love bringing up Dog Poop Signs because it shows you how idiot the logic is with Reviewers and how bias things are.... Just because it has Dog Poop in the name it will be rejected. Yet niantic says some funny names can help approve something tough to be approved. Hmmm. Dog poop signs are signs that are informational/educational to the players...
Literally everything that is not a natural feature or a living creature is man made. Just existing and being made of raw materials does not make it a point of interest.
Everything made by man that can be used by the community is a point of interest.
Signs of all types are a point of interest.
Piers and boatramps are a point of interest.
Structures are man made points of interest.
Technically I could reject artwork because it is not permanent. Concrete is a permanent thing. Wood is a permanent thing. Cardboard for a sign is not a permanent thing.
And the point of all this? You didnt prove anything.
Most things are man-made, and the man-made things you are referencing have criteria specifically around them.
However, time and time again when you bring up things like Picnic Tables, Poop stations etc, we can go back to the actual help page and flat out says COMMON Things shouldn't be submitted.
You compare silos and water towers to Electrical towers, Silos shouldnt really be approved, Water Towers have a specific criteria listed. Electrical towers of these examples are dangerous, low voltage or not you are proving one thing, that you are unable to comprehend normal thinking.
I said Electrical Towers are not safe, while they may land in a park, I would not believe people are actively playing at or on them.
Parks are safe and some things should be approved. BUT again common items, Drinking Fountains, Picnic Tables, Poop Stations, etc should not be approved, UNLESS something special/significant about them. And no I dont want to hear your opinion that the picnic tables are significant because they can seat a lot of people or that they are ADA compliant, either way they are ordinary picnic tables.
"Just because it has Dog Poop in the name it will be rejected."
They are denied because they don't meet any criteria for an Ingress Portal:
A LOCATION WITH A COOL STORY, A PLACE IN HISTORY OR EDUCATIONAL VALUE Interesting story behind the location/object
Historical significance (apart from just being old)
A COOL PIECE OF ART OR UNIQUE ARCHITECTURE Statues, paintings, mosaics, light installations, etc.
Venues that showcase fine art (e.g., performance art theaters and museums)
Buildings designed by renowned architects/structures famous specifically for their architecture
A HIDDEN GEM OR HYPER-LOCAL SPOT A popular local spot that you would take a friend visiting your community for the first time
A popular spot where locals gather, but may be lesser-known outside the community
Tourist spots that showcase local flavor and culture and that make your city/neighborhood unique
More off-the-beaten-path tourist attractions (i.e., if you weren’t a local, you wouldn’t necessarily know to go here)
Adventurous tourist attractions – think lookout towers, observatories, signs or markers atop mountain peaks, etc.
PUBLIC LIBRARIES A nod to education and discovery, cornerstones of Niantic & Ingress
Includes little free libraries, provided they are not on private residential property; does not include mobile libraries
PUBLIC PLACES OF WORSHIP A nod to the otherworldly, which is integral to the story of Ingress
There is no logical way to justify that a sign about the procedures on the proper manner of removing animal excrement. Nothing about that meets any of the above criteria.
I'm done. You can go back to your fantasy Island of Portals , but I'm not going there.
That is your opinion that electrical towers are not safe. And the federal government of the USA disagrees because they have safety guidelines, if no fencing is surrounding the tower than it is allowed to have people visiting to explain architecture with children. Niantic says things at parks are allowed and they are safe. (More injuries daily from sports fields and playgrounds, than walking pass a transmission tower...)
Picnic areas are picnic tables and fixed grilles combined to make a point of interest. While a common thing may not be approved unless it has a significant use...
Fishing areas at a park can have a picnic table by the shore for families to fish. Acceptable use of a picnic table at a manmade feature. (Multiple criteria met)
A painted bench that is located near a lake, is acceptable submission. Because it is a community seating area at a lake that can be used for families to fish at as well. (Multiple criteria met)
Second: Picnic Tables and Grille, you mention significant use, the article says something significant about it not significant use... different meaning entirely. I again know this is fruitless and you will argue the former.
Fishing Picnic Tables? This one is new... Your better off trying that pier of yours. Signage signage signage is still king.
Painted Bench? Got examples of said painted benches if they are artistic we could find something here if they are just a solid paint job they are again just a bench...
Lol there are signs on those towers. The stadium light is not seperate from the sports field. Submit the field not the freaking light, what is wrong with you?
Electrical towers at other areas I agree do not meet criteria. But at parks they meet criteria. It can be a low candidate and still reviewed. If one criteria is met which being in parks and a manmade object by a natural feature is allowed. It can be rated fully. You may not say a 5star. But a 3star for not sure should be used. Because that is what help says to do.
Fishing spots with picnic tables? How is it not a community hyper local spot for adventurous activities? And a manmade object at a natural feature? All acceptable reasons for reviewing?
We haven't taken the logic far enough. Every single utility pole along every street is a man-made object, and a large proportion of those can easily be licked from the sidewalk. If all of those things, all lined up sometimes for miles on end, were portals, can you even imagine how many layers we could create?
Honestly, give that bench a nice title and a fun description and I could see that passing. Make OPR laugh with that one.
Electrical Towers are dangerous regardless so NO
Fishing spots with Picnic Tables, again its just a picnic table. You are trying to use "Hyper Local Hotspot" in context it isnt meant for. Its for a really special spot you would take someone from out of town who is visiting because its seriously one of the coolest places in your city. Think touristy think amazing restaurant, a oddities museum etc. Something special, I got a river access park near me with a bunch of picnic tables you can fish from, They just are not that special.

First picture read the sentence not the parentheses. Manmade points of interest near natural features are acceptable.
Signage is not a requirement. Manmade points of interest are.
You literally pick and choose where the examples matter or don't matter. You either need to argue examples mean nothing or examples mean everything you can't go both ways on that.

Shall we keep going?

Wow, I... Mind=blown
I don't even know what to say about this...
But you guys want to argue that parks are considered to have pedestrian foot access all over the park?
And you want to say niantic is wrong that parks are not safe places?
What is it. Are you saying niantic is wrong?
Manmade permanent structures and things in parks are considered safe as they all have US safety standards that are required....
Niantic says parks are safe.
Reviewers add additional criteria and rules saying no they are not safe.... hmmm. This is reviewers not following the rules.
You contridicted yourself.
Parks are safe, Niantic thinks parks are safe, and they have Pedestrian Access....
No. You said certain things are not safe... "
Then every thing in parks that have been suggested should be allowed. As parks are natural features without manmade features....
I said Electrical Towers are not safe, while they may land in a park, I would not believe people are actively playing at or on them.

No fencing or signs. In a park.
First. Electrical Towers:

I told him last week based on his logic Stop signs meet.
So does a nail somebody knocked into a tree.
