Just because a portal is not publicly accessible does not mean it is not valid. This is the same case as portals in military bases and gated housing/apartments.
I'm aware. But they have people that live on them. Hart Miller's island doesn't. I understand it's a state park. But there is no ferry or bridge to it. Other countries at least have airports you can land too. Roads you can take too.
It should be the picture they take defines the location they are supposed to be submitting. My example with a diamond should be valid. Yes another question.
Remote portals such as those on mountain tops or on small islands, are acceptable if they can be accessed on foot.
And on foot here does not mean you need to be able to reach the island by foot. It means when you arrived at the island by boat, you can reach the portal on foot. The word "island" automatically means it needs a boat.
You cant access by foot if you dont have a boat and a canoe to hart Miller.... That state park, with the new bay bridge coming won't be existing in a couple years. The bridge construction is going to hurt a lot of water front properties. We are going to lose a lot of parks potentially if they dont get more activity from the community.
The 3 lines in google maps location on the link is the area for the 3 bridges, below is the impact area. It's a potential park killer but growth for the state that is needed.
Merritt park is a historic park since it is from 1960, and is accessible via foot and not far from bus access, just like various other parks... Having things at it would save it. What we do as agents is to help the community learn the community. Been asking for more help than people are even aware of...
Here is what's call proof that is used to back up an opinion. The 1st thing you do when submitting before anything else is mark the location 'accurately'. Where you take the following 2 pictures from is irrelevant
The actual OPR guide says as long as you can walk on the island not to the island it can have portals. How you get to the island isnt their concern, but once you are there as long as there is safe ped access.
Are you jealous you can't go out there or something?
There have been plenty of questions about portals on islands or other objects in bodies of water. Although Niantic has never gave a specific rubric, it is generally accepted that if there is a mooring, then anything on the island is valid. Looking at the Heart-Miller Island Park website, it states that there is a safe mooring on the south side of the island, which can be seen from the satellite view.
Nope. Just makes more sense having parks by water that are accessible by the community be built up. The new bay bridge is going to destroy a lot of the parks including hart Miller island and your not going to want to canoe in the water for a long time. Id rather see parks on the people can get too to help try and save some.
The island is a state park, how is that not accessible? The bridge thing is unrelated to Ingress/PoGo/HPWU and shouldnt be fought with local government.
You are always talking about not limiting parks, well the island is a state park and you want to limit it because you personally can't get there? Thats not how it works, this game does not revolve around you Chris.
That state park is only accessible via a boat or canoe. No other way for the community to reach it. There are plenty of parks that can be reached that should have people in them. The new bay bridge, is going to wipe out Hart Miller Island making it not able to be used. So it will be portals no one will be able to use here soon enough that will only be used for spoofing.
So what if people can only reach it by boat or canoe? How does that affect you? It doesn't just ignore it exists, it doesnt hurt you... Focus on your parks and find real candidates to submit....
I was born on an island and can't get off it. This means that everywhere in the world except my island should have portals because it's the only place I can walk to.
At the time of it being unsafe yes. In the mean time its safe and accessible. Once the island is "destroyed" as mentioned it will be in the future then it should be removed as it no longer exists.
Are they destroying the whole island or will it remain with structural supports to the bridge on it?
The new bridge isn't going to that island though, that island is fairly small and not really used by the public. Island will be destroyed from the environmental impacts from building the new bridge, and won't be allowed to be used for a long time. Water polution will **** the access to the couple canoes and few boats. Most of the waterfront property in the chesapeake bay will be destroyed as a result of building it, less than 2 years away. That kind of makes no sense when we are only talking 2 portals that should be removed because the majority of the community doesn't go to it. 2 people with canoes go to physically. All other activity is done via spoofing. I'd rather eliminate a spoofing location, than have it.
I can careless. But I do promote legit pokemon raiding and hunting. I cant promote it when members have 1 gym they cant get too with their OCD and need for perfection. that location is typically spoofed too because 1 or 2 people might go canoing once or twice a year for a portal in ingress. But I doubt its even that often.
I would wager that any "environmental damage" will be short term and the island will open to the public within a season after construction of the bridge finishes.
It was a landfill that was converted and rebuilt by harbor muk to create a state park that is used by very few members of the community. Those portals are mainly used by people who spoof to it.
The other bay bridge is still effecting various parks around it in the water, and that one was built 86 years ago. But sure if you think environmental impacts will only be a year. We have waterfront property and know that it takes a lot longer than a year for the impacts to be done and finished.

Why were you posting in here instead of the AMA...

In his mind the sidewalk is the only accurate location so to him it would be the most accurate.
Despite all our attempts he still believes islands/mountains cant have portals because can't walk to it....
Didn't say all islands. Just Hart Miller Island.

This island, is called THE MOON.
If a portal location becomes unsafe, it should be removed correct?
At the time of it being unsafe yes. In the mean time its safe and accessible. Once the island is "destroyed" as mentioned it will be in the future then it should be removed as it no longer exists.

You are missing the point entirely. Again because you can't/don't go no one should?
If you remove that location people will still spoof regardless of ease of access people spoof. This doesn't make people spoof more...
I can careless. But I do promote legit pokemon raiding and hunting. I was just looking and where the bridges will be placed is pretty far from the island? How will that make it not accessible/unsafe in the future?
environmental impacts will **** it unfortunately.
Maybe, maybe not. But until we cross that bridge (pun intended), those portals remain valid.
Even if the environment damages the island wouldn't it still be safe to access?
I would wager that any "environmental damage" will be short term and the island will open to the public within a season after construction of the bridge finishes.
Also why do you think adding portals to a park will "save it"?
And you didn't answer my question about why you didn't post in the AMA when youve been saying we were all wrong and tagging mods to try to get answers
Yea he was online and posting in here as the AMA questions were going on, guess he didn’t want to be proven wrong.

This state park having portals has zero effect on you
