Not looking to be drug into this disaster of a thread, but it's a state park accessible by boat. The portals have plenty of pedestrian access once at the park. Along with more than five miles of nature trails accessible by foot or free bike rental.
I see multiple roadways and paths, so it's definitely not a "wild west untamed" type island. People obviously go there frequently and to people-related things. There's even a "State Park Observation Tower". What in there, when you're standing on the island, screams to you that it has no safe pedestrian access?
it doesn't have public access unless a boat or a canoe is used. Thanks for confirming. How can this exist, if you can't access it. And people are constantly rejecting boat ramps and piers (That have pedestrian access...)
I didn't say it would be an EASY task. And there would indeed need to be safeguards and measures that such an anti-abuse mechanism won't be used for its own abuse, eg. limited number of review attempts per month ("choose your battles wisely"); eventual banning of the feature per-agent when NIA OPS finds that their reasoning is invalid.
But yup, omg, "Generic business" because it's a playground? You guys gotta stop that nonsense.
I can agree just wanted to see more of your opinion. Trust me I had a very nice restaurant not denied as generic business but as "Can't be located" and I laughed....
On the bright side, this specific issue has been long-decided by NIA OPS. I can't get to Antarctica either, only a very limited number of people are capable both of getting there AND having non-government internet access in order to play there.
Other limited-access portals bothering you? Their advice tends to be that it's an opportunity for you to make new friends.
I've got a few other good examples I'd share, but due to weird local xfac issues I'll only do so in a PM. If only these forums had such a PM feature, but alas.
No... If there is no one that lives on the Island.... NO pedestrian access to the island.... You literally have to take a boat or a canoe... Then the island should not have portals is what I am saying... Because in reality all it creates is a spoofer haven.
Oh I will need your help guys if an island can't have portals on it due to no pedestrian access I've got ALOT of portals throughout Australia to get removed
You have people living on that island correct..... Then you wouldn't have an issue. This one has no one even living on the island. Only accessible via a boat or canoe. And you guys won't even approve boat ramps currently, because you say concrete is not a manmade object that is used as a hyper local spot....
Pedestrian access to the portals is important and required. That would be like on top of a mountain with no trails to get to the top.... No pedestrian access. No portal.
DING DING DING we have somewhat of a winner. He said trails = ped access
MARK THIS HAS HISTORY.
Again though you have a very skewed view of what is considered pedestrian access. Do people hike to the top of a mountain? Yes than it has PED access. So can have a portal. The level of what is considered safe depends on the individual, am I going to hike up a mountain without a clear path probably not doesnt mean its not safe for others to do so. If there a nice trail sure Ill go to the top of the mountain and snag a sweet portal...
So if something is remote and has not public transport access than it should have no portals approved? That's the only difference between libery island and that other one. Also as judging by the website camping is popular on it, its likely there is a company or business that does offer transport.
This question was resolved years ago. Pedestrian Access doesn't mean you can walk from your home. Pedestrian Access means you can stand next to it. You are wrong and you should feel bad.
Also, boat ramps and piers are not portals on their own merit, so they should be rejected because they're not portals, with or without pedestrian access.

In your opinion where should the pin be placed for an island?
That sounds like something I'd say lol.
Pedestrian access is required.... No pedestrian access. No portal....

@TimerCIock I believe this needs to be posted again as you like to say Portal/Poi are different.
A portal is a virtual representation of a real world point of interest.
Now you might say, Niantic says they are 2 very different things. So I will let Niantic also define what a portal is for you and provide you links.

If I am able to I will post the question on behalf of you. However, the idea behind that concerns me.
There would need to be a huge oversight in someway that Niantic reviews the claim. Otherwise everyone is going to FLAG every rejection.

Wait how is there not pedestrian access? Please explain to me how something being an island excludes it from having safe pedestrian access?

Oh you are saying islands in general can't have pedestrian access because they are not connected to the mainland? Oh wow....
So island countries shouldnt have any portals or is there a size limit for an island to not have pedestrian access?
I can agree just wanted to see more of your opinion. Trust me I had a very nice restaurant not denied as generic business but as "Can't be located" and I laughed....

@0X00FF00
Whats even funnier you can legit see the green patio awnings in my picture and from the sat view....
So.... I can't go to Europe because I can't walk there?
And come on guys lets be fair Australia is just a large island... No portals for them either...
Using TC logic its now time for every portal in the UK to be removed as theres no pedestrian access to them from the USA.
I've got a few other good examples I'd share, but due to weird local xfac issues I'll only do so in a PM. If only these forums had such a PM feature, but alas.
Or Europe. That "English Channel" and all that.

No. I just can't post as fast as everyone with the jail sentence...
Literally there is no difference between someone spoofing there versus spoofing to japan or something...
So no, it doesnt increase/create a spoofer problem. It actually increases the sense of adventure to go boat to the island and capture the portal.
You got some weird views....
Oh I will need your help guys if an island can't have portals on it due to no pedestrian access I've got ALOT of portals throughout Australia to get removed
Here's a very similar island on which all the portals should be removed by this logic. (sarcasm intended)

Disagree. That as access for the community to visit it by ferry, major difference.....

It's why the moon landing site isn't a portal
Dont tempt him, that will be the next submission, can see the moon so the landing spot should have a portal from where he can see it.
Huston we have a problem

As we have discussed before and you agreed, a few feet away is allowed for REVIEWER.
SUBMITTER should put the portal as accurately as possible, and accurate means EXACT.
