Let me quote the same courses as you. If the trail marker is likely to exist at the location it would be a 3*. Trails usually lack sat views because of tree cover. That being said now that we are shifting to prime only submissions there is no reason to not include a secondary photo that shows the path...
Do you understand what a trail marker is? If the location is accurate then there IS safe access beacuse its a TRAIL also know as a path. Usual in long bushwalking area these are designed to have a limited impact on the surroundings.
Dog pop stations are no different than a trail marker, it is a sign used by the community. A playground is similar in comparison. It may be used for exercise it may not be. Yet it is mass produced.
Cultural is people learning that people have to clean up after their pets to keep the environment clean. It's a valid cultural experience. It is an adventurous activity to walk your dog at a park or on a trail. Having a place designated for a poop station while on a hike on a trail is helpful to trainers and agents with pets.
Culture for a trail marker is it's an adventurous activity. Yet it is still an information sign.
Okay you want to go that route... The guides specifically mention trail markers should be accepted. The guides do not mention Dog Waste Stations being accepted, nor do they say they can't so go ahead submit them and see how many get approved.
No but it does say that the agents are to help the community learn the community and portals can be approved if they meet criteria.
A park that allows dogs to be with the player should have dog poop stations to be valid poi's because it is submitting they would use, similar to a trail marker. Trail marker they don't interact with though besides reading the direction or finding the distance went so far. A dog poop station they can interact with if they have pets.
"High-quality Portals nominations are those that help Agents discover and enjoy their community." Exact quote, no one is trying to discover a dog waste disposal station. However, someone might be excited to discover a trail they had never been on, a super cool super hero themed coffee shop, a fancy restaurant with a cool story etc. This is what is means by discover their community.
Are you personally excited about finding a dog waste station?
"No sidewalk" isn't universally applicable. There is NO sidewalk leading up to any of the myriad of generically blank playground equipments, but they're all 5* nonetheless.
There is NO sidewalk leading up to the state campground, just a highway. It's still a 5^ submission.
"Safe pedestrian access" is the rule, universally applied. "Sidewalk sitting right there" is but a rule-of-thumb.
By your logic toilets should be portals too. We as agents, trainers, wizards use them daily. This thread is just another repeat of nonsense of the other threads.
Playgrounds typically have sidewalks in view and in the back ground of the playgrounds.
Campgrounds have walking paths and should be used for those submissions. No side walk or walking path it is not a 5 star on accesible and can be removed as a result.
Safe pedestrian is the rule universal and required per Help to be rated properly... Yes they matter more than people think.
If I ever even TRIED to submit POIs like that, also showing your supposedly "required" sidewalks leading to the area, about 1/3 of the playgrounds would be refused in OPR due to "photo quality". They're just too far away.
A dog owner goes to the park with their pets. They can't always go in a coffee shop with their pets. Yes dog poop stations at parks are used by members of the community. Knowing a park has dog poop stations would allow more players to bring their pets to the park to enjoy the game with them. It is valid and should be allowed. It is culture that you are not realizing because most players don't bring their pets. Not all playgrounds are used 24/7 yet still approved... No difference for other things at parks. None at all. They all have history and culture in some way shape or form. Ask your local members of all games if they would want dog poop stations at parks to be allowed to be portals, I bet more say yes, because they are dog owners more so than people saying no way.
Good example, this shelter, swings, and playground in the back have no sidewalks, no walking path, however would be considered safely accessible because they are in a park.... its not in the middle of a lake or in the middle of a busy road, its safely on grass...
A dog park is a good POI, fantastic actually it could be a gathering spot to meet people.... a poop station is not, and worried a park doesnt have a poop station, bring your own poop baggies.... Again a poop station does not help someone discover their community...
Agreed because Reviewer's add their own criteria to what is allowed. Support photos should show them because that is what Niantic stated is required per Help in OPR.
Doesn't matter what I think. NIantic has it written clear. Hence why you are allowed to be a few feet away. That service road gives players with ADA requirements a place to rally at which is why sidewalks or pedestrian foot access is required.
Huh? None of that even made sense... No where does it say a POI can be a few feet away you keep making that up. Also safely accessible is defined as it being safe to get to. Something like my above picture is safe to get to despite not having a trail or sidewalk...
He was fixated on the sidewalk thing in the drinking fountain discussion and he didnt understand what he was talking about then and he still doesn't now. Are we surprised?
That is both function and cultural significance. It is both. Culture for a church is religious place to worship. Culture for a dog poop station is to preserve the area and keep a clean environment as a result while allowing pet owners to enjoy the park with their pets just like others. Dog parks are valid POI's. Other things for those dog park areas should be allowed.
The sidewalks fixation is because it is written and clear. I assumed they wanted drinking water fountains because they are typically the ones with sidewalk access everywhere. That was a valid mix up. It is a fountain that has sidewalk access. Just not a pretty fountain. Drinking water fountains, I am still bringing up during AMA, because you can't promote exercise everywhere without promoting hydration at the same time.
That is not a valid mix up, also why bring it up in the AMA when you were clearly given direction from Niantic not to submit Drinking Water Fountains. Peoples hydration is their own responsibility.
Still a fixation on sidewalks, they are not saying a sidewalk is required for a fountain just accessibility, sidewalk was an example... You are trying to use sidewalks to justify other claims...
Accessibility isn't just safe for you. It is safe for people with disabilities to access the portals. Wheel chair people play the games too. That is why in help under how to rate accesible, it shows you a safe harbor median with no sidewalk access should be a rejection. Because yes it is safe to stand in the middle of the separation, but disable people can not with wheel chairs easy enough. It is very clear on what is and isn't allowed.... Hence why support photos should show a sidewalk nearby....
I am not mixing it up. You just ignore the accessibility rating requirements in the Help. If you vote 5 star on accessbility without a sidewalk, than you are voting wrong.

Which is still coming inevitably.... 6 to 9 months isn't far away. It could happen any day in reality.

Never has a truer statement been made.

I lost brain cells reading this. Dog **** = Culture!
I lost brain cells reading this... Dog Waste = Culture because we clean it up?

Yes.... Culture has to do with cleaning up the mess. https://www.rd.com/culture/etiquette-rules-for-dog-owners/

Ive seen plenty of your submissions like the Grilles/Picnic tables that did not have sidewalk access, so are you now saying you submit incorrectly?
Most were submitted in Redacted which did not have support photos. And in the background of those, you could see sidewalk access.
