Can’t send nominations in 3G reception areas.
Hi. Being a rural agent I’m used to having reception issues even in some towns. Things have improved a little with new Prime updates, however I can’t submit nominations anywhere there is no decent 4G reception. I’ve tried multiple times in 3G & even with full reception, I get the same “Image upload error” type message. Given where many of us explore to add portals in more remote areas, can this get fixed ASAP! There’s plenty places I won’t get even 3G reception within 25km of the candidate or only weak reception. One of the attached clips was taken the town of Moe, Australia. It’s not a little town & the area I was in was flat. Still couldn’t complete the upload. Please see attached screenshots for what happens.
Thanks.

Just wanted to add that my phone is an iPhone 7 model A1778.
So true! I live and play in rural area and also cannot send nominations in low signal areas. Hundreds of POIs are not always in metropolitan areas. Rural areas have POIs too and many people are missing out on these rare gems.
Many of us live in rural areas or towns in the middle of vast rural areas and have definitely noticed more issues in Prime with being able to do actions while in areas we used to barely be able to do things in Redacted. This is a step backward and makes playing frustrating at best. Niantic needs to invest more time on making sure that the game's data usage is light-weight enough to accomplish the same play as before if not improve on it or I would challenge the fact that they have achieved parity with Redacted. It's hard enough to keep players with the latest things Niantic has been doing, don't make it even harder with these low signal area issues.
I'm usually timing out on submissions when on solid LTE now. A message about image upload timing out flashes up quickly. Last attempt was last night.
What resolution are you uploading the image in?
Whatever is coming out of the default camera app on my Pixel 2 XL
How low can you reduce it? If not into the 4MP or lower, I recommend switching to a third party camera app like Open Camera.
I had trouble on the coast in Massachusetts because my T-Mobile device kept falling to 3G or trying to roam. There should be plenty of data capability even on 3G to submit portals though, because I've submitted them on 2G under the classic client.
Either they need to improve the submission abilities, or remove the 25km restriction which is silly anyway.
I can do that, just annoying that the app isn't doing it on its own anymore.
AGREE! I know the tricks like reducing resolution and taking photos then running to wifi to submit. But this really is an issue. Why can't it save the submission and queu it up so I can go back to playing and wait til I'm on wifi to upload? Or reduce the image size to the appropriate level before uploading? Although I kind of like having reasonably high res images while approving new portals.
Yesterday I was attempting to nominate a portal in a rural area and right after I hit submit the reception dropped out. It stayed on the loading screen (you know, those white rotating bars, the Ingress version of a rainbow wheel of ****) for a long time and even after reception improved it was stuck so I eventually had to exit. I did not receive a confirmation email for sucessfully submitting the portal, and now I have one less nomination left.
Because the reception dropped out after hitting submit and I had to exit, did I lose one of my nomination quota?
