[Suggested Feature] Media Locker

Media items are generally only kept by players for sentimental value. They take up valuable inventory space without providing any benefit to play. (They actually take up space that could otherwise be used for functional items).

My suggestion is that Niantic sell a "media locker" from the store. The media locker should behave like the existing purchasable key lockers and enable storage of 100 media items. This would enable long term storage of media sets from anomalies or other events.

I'd prefer McWibble's suggestion to mine. It sounds like an entirely new feature.

I'll admit I thought about this. I could see something along the lines of the hexagonal screens we keep seeing on the Nemesis livestreams. It could fill out gradually and progressively like the mission or medal pages, or it could show everything up front like a sticker book with items to collect.

In reality both suggested features are compatible with each another. You can fill out your sticker book whilst also treating media items as inventory items. The item could be "consumed" like a key when it is applied to the sticker book. In this case a media locker would still be useful if you needed large numbers of them for an event.

  • Only downside to moving it away from physical virtual items is that the ability to trade with other agents is gone.

An alternate suggestion: make media and frackers not count against inventory limits.

I would have bought more frackers in the past if I didn't resent them taking up precious inventory space.

Certainly for purchased items I don't see any problem with making them not count against the inventory limit. For media, it might be a problem if someone collects 10,000 of them and bogs down the servers whenever they load their inventory.

  • Yes! Especially after last anomaly having media cold storage would be Peachy!
