It's happening: a XF effort to block a XF effort.
in General
This event might be the best done so far in history of Ingress: a massive change of teams where there are no ENL or RES, just people trying to move shards and people trying to block shards.
The highest bet so far!

XF vs XF
Soon™
Yeap, all the agents who were soo opposed to an Xfac event because "it was against what Ingress was" are engaged in an XFac effort to spoil it. We have entered the Undiscovered Country, but what side is Captain Kirk on?
This is bound to happen one way or another when I see the Avenir rules. It's not even only people who hates xfac event, I am pretty sure there are also people who likes the idea of faster decay rate and will try to prevent the shard from reaching the destination portal.
This feels like a true enlightenment vs resistance, where the resistance is made up from various factions, each with their own interest and only groups together because they share a common goal.
Resistance is futile.
I'm not going to say that it wasn't expected. I knew something like this would happen and they obviously don't want to get another badge or something like that. I'll wait and see how this develops.
And would it make this event, my dear fellow agent, the best Ingress event so far? :D
The new two teams: XFAC and CFAC, in a fierce battle to determine if "cross" should be represented by an X or C.
And maybe a day, we ll pay in OPR to validate portals !!
Coming soon...
Day 2 of the Global Civil War:
·Cyberbulling on shards becomes a usual thing.
·Shard defenders are helpless to protect them and take them to safety.
·Goverments refuse to make formal declarations for the moment.

I am pretty positive at least one shard will be delivered by the end of this event, but it will likely only be one shard. At max I could see three.
I dunno in the US of A over here we seem to be happily entering a new era of peace and harmony between the factions. The shard moves unimpeded, blue and green agents are holding hands skipping down the nature trails recharging their mutually agreed upon guardian portals in perpetuity. Not a burster fired in anger, except in x-faction designated 'competitive' zones where trophies are handed out to both sides regardless of outcome... it's beautiful, truly a melting pot of togetherness and peace.
Shard #2 Is progressing towards its target nicely. It should be nearing the capture point by the end of the day. Doesn't appear to be any significant XFac interference yet. But We will see once the shard finishes its sea voyage.
I am sure the only few shards, if any, will be capped in the US. Other countries... not so much... but we shall see.
nah 3 only would be a huge fail and we all will be punished... i think scoring 7-10 isnt that hard really if both factions would coop together...
Depends on timing and position of final shards. Shards outside the US are struggling already to move.
yes i know, the one in europe idk whats going on.. i guess some ppl want no badge and increased decoy rate.. i dont want it i want badge .(
As soon as men decide that all means are permitted to fight an evil, then their good becomes indistinguishable from the evil that they set out to destroy.

Controversy is set and spread all over the globe as American Shard seems to be taken home while Asian and European shards are still strongly restranted.
While Trump remains silent, Explorer seems to be pushed away since some voices claim "is a foreign thing". Some others say "Positive Discrimination".
Another batch of shards are due for today but there are reports claiming they refuse to show because of cyberbulling. Society of Ethical Treatment of AIs is surprisingly quiet about ongoing events.
Meanwhile, the Civil War seems to be granting Avenir a masterly victory over humans.
What? Sorry I don't follow what you're trying to say.
FYI, a European shard has been scored: the one that spawned in Leeds.
I think it's a broad political satire. I laughed anyways.
*I made an oops and posted twice. How do I make this go away. halp
In think Niantic should do more events like this. And make different reward/punishments for the outcome.
For example, fast decay + increased hack output vs. slow decay and lower hack output.
Or more offensive items vs. more defensive items.
A civil war inside factions seem fun. It could be competing objectives. Like "there must be a total of X faction portals before a certain date" vs. X portals destroyed.
People are afraid it's going to lose it's edge and become a snoozefest like POGO or HPWU, and I get that. It's honestly not fun playing against the environment all the time. Without a human opponent, these are basically co-op games, and I like a good co-op game every once in a while, but having a real living person to play against, at a deep, strategical level like you find in Ingress, can't be replaced.
But! I have really been enjoying this event. I've said to some players on the opposing faction, "Hey, you play good, imagine how much we could get done if we were on the same team". That's not me trying to flip them to my faction, that's a sincere sentiment. But no one's gonna flip without irreversibly damaging the trust of their old teammates, and having to face an uphill battle gaining the trust of their new teammates.
So this event has been great! I get to work with the brightest minds from both sides, and I don't hold animosity towards them. Certain agents on my team and the opponent's team are bad at being a good sport, and we all acknowledge that they probably wouldn't get much out of this event and work with the agents who can reach across the aisle.
That isn't to say that anyone who shuns this event is a bad sport. There's a multitude of reasons someone might not want to play co-op. Maybe they don't like the direction Niantic is going (I feel turning off your scanner for the duration would send a stronger message than interfering, just imo). Maybe they don't like the local opposing team (and sometimes, yes, some people can't get along. No point in forcing them). Maybe playing against the computer isn't a good time for them (which I feel is the most legitimate complaint, but for me, it's not who I'm playing against, it's who I'm playing with).
So yeah, people have different reasons for playing, and people can play how they like, red faction or no. And I hope that Niantic doesn't get the idea that they can pull the competitive rug out from underneath our feet. But I've enjoyed this event, and even if there are some people who want to play contrarywise, that's okay. Shards have a goalie. But that just makes it more fun to score 😉
I find your post inspiring. I would just point out that you don't even need to flip to break down trust.
@LemoMcLemonFace it is suposed to be a joke, but feel free to flag me! Some haters didn't miss the chance to do so :D
Good to be proven wrong? 😅
Very much so, goes to show how vocal the minority anti-XF agents truly were.
The one thing I love about this event is the communities around the world connecting to complete the mission. Just watching the shards jump across oceans to reach the target destination is pretty amazing. 👍️
nailed it
